try to keep things spoiler-free in here, unless I otherwise give permission. I may do limited information reveals as the game goes on in order to keep things interesting.


in order to spice things up, i will be running a

contest

for this game. the rules are simple: try to correctly guess as many alt accounts and alignments as possible by the end of Day 1. To do so, submit a list of the alt account names in this game paired with guesses as to their main. In addition, submit a list of 3-player scumteam guesses.

The scoring for this game will be as follows:

Correctly matching an alt to its main -

2 points

Guessing a player who is in the game, but paired to the wrong alt -

1 point

(if someone altslips you get points if you guessed before the slip and none after. fingers crossed that doesn't happen)

Correctly guessing 1 scum -

1 point

Correctly guessing 2 scum -

4 points

Correctly guessing the exact scumteam -

15 points

whoever gets the highest score in this game gets to choose my avatar for a month. and maybe another prize idk yet

i know i's not easy but i figure having something to do makes it more entertaining

plus trying and being wildly wrong is fun too because then afterwards you can be like "how did I think [A] was [Z]?!"

yeah, unfortunately it's a mechanic that carries a high degree of risk in a forum setting for various reasons. however there are strong potential rewards for and i've tried to incentivize jumping in the setup design.

bell actually suggested letting the things learn the roles of their target if they jump, but i felt that might be too scum-favored in what is already a scumsided setup. it's something to consider for a possible future iteration of the setup though, if jumping is too intimidating for this game's scumteam.

It’s a scary mechanic for sure! But it’s so much fun. I like trying to figure out if someone’s been taken over. Also it’s hilarious watching someone pretend to be you.

The first time I encountered a mechanic like this it was in some theme game, and I had the power to take over someone else’s alt twice for an hour at a time. Both my uses had to be done by day three. I was so scared when I used it though and I just screamed in all caps things like DIE SCUM DIE at the person I was trying to swing the wagon onto. I was terrified if I did anything else it would be obvious it was me since I was still me too.

That was a hilarious game overall and completely lost in space when we lost our website rip.

tbf half of the characters in the thing have, like, 3 lines of characterization, it would not be the easiest to roleplay
