1. Please abide by all site rules.
2. Toxic and harmful behaviour will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
- flaming, insulting, or directing personal attacks at other players
- use of slurs or derogatory language
- spamming
- excessive AtE
- excessive discussion of real life issues (a mention is fine, but this is not a place to vent or to go into detail)
- otherwise being a jerk or making the game unenjoyable for others
3. Play to your win condition.
4. If you wish to replace out, request replacement via PM. Do not discuss replacing out in thread or suggest that another player replace out.
5. Once you request replacement or I notify you that you are being replaced, it is final. You cease to be a player in the game and may no longer post. You may not replace back into your slot.
6. After your death is announced in the game thread, you may no longer post in the game thread or any associated PTs other than the spectator PT.
7. Do not discuss this game outside of the game thread and associated PTs, and do not discuss other ongoing games in this game.
8. Do not take any action that attempts to prove the existence of private game communications. You are allowed to claim that these communications exist as long as you do not attempt to provide evidence. Private communications include:
- your role PM
- other communications with the moderator
- posts from any game-related PT
9. Do not engage in the use of trust tells.
10. Do not use provable randomness. Claiming to have rolled a die, for example, is fine; using dice tags is not.
11. Do not use cryptography, invisible text, or text under size 75. Breadcrumbing is fine.
12. If you have the power to edit or delete posts, refrain from using it.
13. My mod colour is
#FF8000
. My backup mod's colour is
#00BF80
. You can use them as long as you aren't trying to impersonate us.
14. In the past, the word "lynch" referred to the town's elimination method. Due to the racially charged history of lynchings in the USA, Mafiascum no longer allows this word to be used. Alternatives include:
- eliminate and its derivatives
- execute
- condemn
- fade
- vote off
- YEET
- anything else that gets the point across
15. Please be mindful of other users' preferred pronouns and do your best not to misgender others. If you don't know someone's pronouns, it is best to use "they."
16. Pretending to break a rule or attempting to provoke someone into breaking a rule is itself a violation of the rules.
17. Moderation actions will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the individual circumstances. Player alignment, of course, will not be a factor.
18. If you have concerns that moderator action is needed somewhere or that I have made a mistake (excluding minor errors like VC mistakes), please contact me via PM.
19. I reserve the right to alter the ruleset. Any rules changes will be announced in the game thread.
Activity
20. At minimum, you must post in the game thread once every 48 hours. If you fail to do so, you will be prodded.
21. You must pick up your prod within 24 hours or be replaced. Prod Dodges, which provide no game advancing content will not count as you picking up your prod. Even a simple "I think Thomith is Town/Mafia" is adequate.
22. If you accumulate 3 prods, you will be replaced.
23. If you are going to be absent for longer than 48 hours, please declare V/LA in thread or by PM. Players on V/LA will not be prodded.
24. Any player who does not post anything game-relevant for 5 days will be replaced. This rule applies regardless of V/LA status. If you foresee that this will be the case for you, please request replacement.
Deadlines
25. Days have a 10-day deadline. Nights have a 2-day deadline.
26. Deadline extensions may be granted in special circumstances. Requests for extensions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
27. Fast night is available if all living players, including those without night actions, request it.
Voting and Execution
28. Votes and unvotes must be bolded in the format
VOTE: Player
or in vote/unvote tags (VOTE: Player), and should preferably be on a separate line in your post. Vote/unvote tags are preferred.
29. I will not count votes that are:
- unclear
- improperly formatted
- in spoilers or obviously broken quotes
-
struck through
or purposely obfuscated in any other way
30. An execution occurs when a majority (>50%) of players vote to execute someone. If no majority is reached by the deadline, no one will be executed.
31. You may vote not to execute anyone (VOTE: No Execution). If the number of living players is even, only 50% of players must agree to secure a no-execution.
32. Once the hammer vote is cast, the day’s fate is sealed. Discussion may continue into the twilight, but no further votes or unvotes will be counted.
Private Topics
34. If you would like a notes PT, you may request one. You can state that you have a notes PT, but you may not attempt to use it to prove you are working from a town mindset (real or fabricated).
35. All PTs shared by two or more players will be released 24 hours after the game ends. Any redactions should be requested within this time frame. If you have a notes PT, it is up to you what you would like to do with it, and you will have the moderator privileges to do it yourself.

All Role PM's have now been sent out. The game will begin when 11 players have confirmed. All players have (expired on 2024-01-25 17:27:10) to confirm their role, otherwise they will be replaced.
Currently 12/13 players have confirmed.

To my knowledge, global multitasking is allowed in simple normals as it is not an individual role modifier, which is what is happening in this case. What isnt allowed would be singular people having the multitasking modifier.
This setup has been reviewed, and has been classified as a Simple Normal by the Normal Review Group, so will follow the standards set by the Simple Normal wiki page.
Edit: For further clarification, Multitasking in itself is also not a Normal role modifier anymore.

From my point of view, it's certainly not a strong view that one of you must be scum, but I sense something off with both of your openings, and don't necessarily feel like you would begin that way if bugs was your partner, although of course that is possible. I last played mafia a few years ago now but bugs always lacked confidence as scum so I could see a question like that being asked as an entrance point into the game, and I'm not sure you would put early pressure on your partner by pointing out such a flaw, as you would be overly sensitive to the fact that it could be construed as an awkward opening.
I don't feel the need to right now. I'm not one for following conventions just because it's expected, when I don't otherwise see the value in it. If I see a good reason to vote someone then I surely will.

this explains downweight of "scum psyche / scum bugspray", but doesn't give why "scum psyche / town bugspray" and "town psyche / scum bugspray" scenarios are upweighted
