Also since I have you, what do you make of this post?
I just finished a game with a guy who microblogged in the game thread. I'm desensitized. orcinus may feel differently, but I won't consider that alone to be alignment indicative.

I called myself town in the first post of my first scumgame (offsite)
So I'm not inclined to believe that.
Also, your 22 doesn't make a lick of sense. Sort of reminds me of Buldermar bugging Fery about why a player said "Mafia Goon" instead of "Scum" in BSG.

in the game I referred to a newb made posts like that almost every time he was online. He was town. He was a PR. He actually played a damn decent newb game.
So...yeah. newb scum might make a post like that. so might newb town. On its own, it's null to me.

well, now I'm not sure what post you were asking me about in #29, the gotta run post or the I'm scum post? I thought you were asking me again about the leaving post.
In post 39, Selkies wrote:Like I said to fery the other day, why didn't rach address the fact that people were considering policy lynching her?
So that's why you voted her?
That was very early RVS. Orcinus and I didn't discuss his votes until we were ready to put down a serious one.
However, it was after the RVS vote on Rach that FuDuzn mentioned willingness to policy vote Rach, so I would be a little surprised if that was the reason why orcinus voted her.
In post 48, Mac wrote:Fu what did you make of the "gotta go" post?
Also I'm quite happy with my vote on Rach since she has contributed zilch despite evidently keeping up with the game.
Rach's early Day gameplay reminds me of Molla's Big Idea tbh, of course we know she was scum there.
And about the gotta go post, I just see it as a newb player narrating his every move. I was trying to see if anyone would 'opportunistically'(sp?) jump all over him for it, as scum will sometimes do. Though nothing of that sort happened, peobably from lack of activity from most people here.
Scum? Going after low hanging fruit? say it ain't so.

Quick run-ups during the random voting stage is not unusual, though people usually sit up and take notice when someone puts a player at L-1. A quick few votes is actually a way to get an early reaction from the player, which might help with a read.
Rach is amazingly calm when it happens to her. The first game I played with her she was voted to L-1 and didn't even blink.
If you think the flurry of votes looked scummy, you could question the person or persons you thought looked scummiest about their votes and maybe put down a vote yourself.

nah. you smell town orcinus. Some players bollix up their town game to benefit their scum game. I haven't figured out if Rach does that intentionally, or if it's just her personality to hang back and be noncommital.
That's just the way she rolls. If she's Mafia, she's doing a good job of it. If she's Town, she's just preventing the Mafia from getting any info on her role.
So hypothetically, not posting anything but "a" every day is by your definition good play for Mafia and town.
You have a townie (and a day/night phase) to lose in the process.
Why are you assuming rach is town?
Other games have absolutely no influence on this game.
Bullshit. It's the same player playing in both games. If I think somebody's town play was crap in game A, I'll be more inclined to lynch them the next time I play with them.

In post 78, Torcinator wrote:Still, asking, "What do we have to lose by lynching you?" is pretty scummy in my book.
Let me just clarify this.
Because Rach is such a pain in the ass to read, we'll end up lynching her at one point or another in the game. And since I doubt she will contribute anything to the game (beside maybe free pom-poms), we might as well make it day 1.

However dont be too sure he is town there I am always suspicious when someone jumps to my defense ever since my first game on site when Meta did it and it helped him and LS win the game.
yeah I was thinking orc was being his towny self can you rein him in a bit so we dont end up outing PRs so soon? The idea is to catch the scumz....
I am very fine with him linking to offsite games.
Hi Rach. Can you promise me that you will claim only
1). When you are at L-1 AND
2). When somebody offers to hammer

In post 86, Torcinator wrote:I have not seen rach play before, and you specifically said, "Cheerleading," so I assumed that you meant the meaning of the word.
How exactly is cheerleading pro-town, and how exactly saying "good job catch scum go town!" every game for like 50 times more productive than the hypothetical I gave?
I am assuming that because she is unconfirmed either way, and therefore is more likely to be Town than Mafia.
Wow. So everyone is unconfirmed...so...we should no-lynch, right?
Yes, but until the player actually plays, you have no reason to lynch them (unless it's a running gag).
If somebody demonstrates to have poor town play in another game, it's not exactly a crazy extrapolation to assume that they'll have poor town play in this game. And since risk/reward, and the risk of losing a bad town player is a bit less than usual, I would be more inclined to lynch them if all other factors were held equal.
No, you try again.
Tell me about this

Can all people with offsite meta just link to them now
I think it's stupid and maybe even scummy to not consider a persons prior experience in a Mafia game. You're trying to evaluate whether or not a person is town or scum. It would be naive to judge a persons posting by a benchmark that does not apply to them. For instance, calling a new player scummy for being clueless about the game is something I frown upon because it makes no freaking sense. It's a new player. You don't expect them to come in and lead the town. Scum typically need to fabricate reasons for scumreads and this is one of the easiest.
And to disprove that we're scum together with Rach I will now tunnel her as it seems like she often escapes cheaply by whatever the guy's name with meta experience on her was called.
In reality the vote is very randomly put, but I'm quite blank at this point and most reads are null/neutral and tilt not to left nor right.

When I said newbie it was not meant to be offensive, just that on this site you are a newbie based on your start date. I can only judge based on that since I have no clue how many games and what other sites people have played on. I do know there are several significant differences between this site and others like length of day/night. being anti NL early on which some other sites encourage on day 1, and so on. So not an insult by anymeans after all we all start out here at some point.
I am an IC so I play with a lot of newbies in the Newbie games.
'
Orc I miscounted in 487 and I thought I was at L-1 when I claimed not L-2.
PEDIT let me post you two
Hi Ms. IC you're not doing a fantastic job of explaining to torc why more town than scum in village doesn't make everyone town

Fudu: evidently I do, why would you ask me a question like that? I mean, I sort of voted the guy. You telling me why you think scum wouldn't make a post like that would be helpful.

Fair. I'm not one to lurk but I'm having trouble getting into this game. If things don't start happening and I'm not more invested by Day 2 I'll replace out for the first time ever.
Anything in the 6 pages so far that's worthy of comment or sparks observation?

orcinus and I are not of one mind atm, but votes are are tool of the game. How is his using our vote different from your using your vote? The day is not currently in danger of ending early.
What do you think we should be doing about lurkers?
@Shadi, there are two questions for you in that post:
you think empking's post looks like a scum reaction? Or you think my post does?
Neither, you both follow valid points.
However, if I had to think of who I think is MOST scummy although both of you are overall non-scum read so far; I'd say you.
Do you equate scumhunting with tunneling?
No, however, the thing you're doing to scumhunt right now is tunneling, no?
I don't think so. My read of you is null and I'm trying to refine that via conversation. I don't think orcinus is tunneling you either. he's moved our vote around quite a bit so far, though I think he has a bit more of a scum read on you than I do.
