Hiiiiiiii Titus I’m not really mad at you because of my role I was dead anyway the moment Thor claimed, and I couldn’t tell if you were town gambitting or scum fakeclaiming because House fakeclaimed doc in my first game and then Narninian faked a guilty on me in WDPT that I didn’t react to because I was so dumb back then I didn’t understand what was going on and that made me look really bad so I learned that if I have a role pm related reason for knowing someone is guilty then I have to react right away, I had to take you with me if you were scum fakeclaiming since I was dead anyway due to my role. You were right about Thor though, I’m sorry.

Also I heard that you are dealing with some lifesuck right now. My sympathy; I am also dealing with lifesuck.



It is really funny that Shinobi and Chthulu were the same colour in my head and they were both scum. My typing was not very communicative that day but I was onto something! And I knew that Thor’s ISO was full of scum theatre! Thor and BBT! Ha!

I want to have a private conversation with Frogger in which I appologise for my stupid meltdown at him earlier in the thread and explain what all is going on with me offline. I was thinking of replacing into the game I was doing the +- thing for. i didn’t just pick a random game. but a game i signed up for back a long time ago if finally going to start soon so I might not replace in there afterall. or not yet.

My limit is about 3 games. my playstyle takes forever. if i’m in only 1 game I get too invested. At the end of We Didn’t Playtest This it was really hard because for a while it was my only ongoing game and I’d been pretty heavily scumread for reasons I didnt understand for months and people were stonewalling me, no matter what I did or said or how ridiculously obvtown I was, it didn’t matter, and I had no idea how well I was doing — from everyone’s reactions, it seemed like i was doing poorly and i did literally everything I could think of to figure the game out (including rereading a 277 page thread and liveblogging my reread of it) and it was just Plotinus is scum because gut. and Plotinus is scum because Plotinus is scummy. and "you’re just scum that has efforted". and towards the end of it everyone else was mostly prodging instead of interacting with me and for a few weeks I couldn’t even look at the game thread without crying so I fixed the “I can’t handle WDPT being my only ongoing game” problem by signing up here and replacing in somewhere else.

This game was nice even though I had trouble getting into it and getting reads. I felt like I was really lacklustre for a while at the start and it was frustrating because I wasn’t doing it on purpose and the people griping about my meta were right that it was out of character for me. I think I like replacing in better than starting; I can get off to a stronger start.

The reason I dumped my numbers in the thread was because I figured either you or frogger would have been able to make sense of them, but that may have been a mistake; I know what the numbers mean because I’ve just been through someone’s ISO with a fine toothed comb. Just looking at a string of symbols without having read the ISO that thoroughly, it’s not enough to draw the right conclusion.

That’s true. I don’t really get gambitting but I understand that other people do it and get things out of it.

I never lie as either alignment (unless someone asks me a stupid question¹) and that’s been working out well for me so far. When I replaced into my last game with BBT, The Zar Show, people were wagonning BBT because of his playstyle and I knew that was null for him so I started hard defending him, and the only person on this site who has seen my scum game before, pistachi0n, was willing to believe everything I was writing because she knew that i was telling the truth about BBT regardless of my alignment. It suits me to be believed by people who don’t know my alignment.

Except for the “I don’t claim scum nor do I compromise myself” clause, yeah I don’t lie. I don’t have to. It doesn’t come up. If I’m scumreading a townie it’s because they’re acting scummy. I can provide citations for anything I claim about somebody. I make a case and everything in the case is true including the fact that my townself would be scumreading the slot.

It’s not problematic because it’s not a trust tell. if you ask me if i’m town, i’ll say yes. there’s nothing obvious on the outside that anybody can point to that makes it clear what my alignment is based on the not lying thing. I refrain from mentioning things that hurt my wincon. I was scum offsite once and a cultist offsite once and I think the only time i said something that wasn’t true it was because i’d forgotten the truth myself (after i was outed as a cultist i maintained that i could win with the town, but it was because i’d forgotten that we weren’t the good guys, because if everyone had joined the cult then there wouldn’t be any more nightkilling and no more lynching and everyone would be best friends ever).

I think Thor might be one of those people I can’t play with because all of his posts are above my reading level and then he dumbs it down too far when I ask for help, talks to me like i’m a toddler. would have to see him as town first though to compare. it’s unfortunate, he’s probably a nice person i just can’t decipher anything he writes. i know my own writing is hard to read sometimes and there’s not much i can do about that either. :/ some people just aren’t meant to play together.

Feeling pretty bad about frogger, though. ITT, Plotinus failing the Sally-Anne test again and again and again and treating all their friends like shit. Next 17-21 June I’ll pre-emptively go on V/LA I think. But it’s not as simple as that because it’s not “never lie ever” it’s “never lie ever except to avoid claiming scum or compromising self”. The answer to “are you town?” is yes no matter what, etc. There’s still broad areas of things I’m unwilling/unlikely to lie about, I’ll even usually answer questions like “Is ____ alignment indicative for you” truthfully (albeit somewhat misleadingly because I won’t correct bad assumptions), and I tend to lie with the truth as much as I can.

Eh, the same thing as before, Bulbazoor just nth me for rising star and best replacement. But I’ve never actually played with him before so I have no idea what that’s about. We Didn’t Playtest This finished a while ago now. Maybe he was following our newbie game that just finished? I was a replacement there, too, and I won and stuff but I don’t think it was particularly remarkable.

I had no idea what I was doing for half of it; I knew that resisting town wagons was a bad way to get mislynches but I kept doing it for no reason, and it took my buddy two entire day phases to get lynched because I’m not very good at wagon driving even when I’m deathtunnelling someone. (He used dice tags to decide if he should hammer someone or not so I was trying to bus him but everyone kept thinking it was TvT and nobody would lynch him).

Bella was scum, but she wasn’t buddying me; she was being a decent person and a good friend to me (and she was respecting my privacy when you were pushing her about it).

I like frogger, but I can understand why you find him frustrating for not working with you; you were obvtown. To stand up for him, it’s hard being conftown because it’s harder to get accurate reads and I know he’s not having much fun this game and some of that is my fault.

This game is the last time I dump my numbers thing when I’m anticipating getting nightkilled; the numbers can’t be interpreted except by someone who goes through the ISOs with a fine toothed comb (at such a close level of detail that they could do the numbers themselves if they wanted to). You have to know what each + means in particular and be able to hold hundreds of posts in your head at once to do it.

Yeah. He did that in my scum game and I was totally prepared for and didn’t react at all, but two townies took the bait and opportunistically voted his townread. It’s a good gambit against people who haven’t seen it before, but I don’t think it’s going to work for him much longer.

Also, it relies on him being *right* about his reads which nobody is going to be 100% of the time.

Agree. Once every 4 town games or so would be optimal. And he should do it as scum too sometimes.

she probably does, though. she’s bp and BBT was a neighbouriser. It stands to reason that the opposing scum team would be bp + some other ability. so shooting thor makes sense.

i agree that honeypotting is bad play, zor. we had a townie that did that when i was scum and they were a free mislynch in lylo.

frogger’s kind of aggravating to play against as scum because he obvtowns himself pretty easily and he’s hard to mislynch, and as town he tends to roflclaim too early and has trouble telling the difference between someone being wrong about their reads (or just disagreeing with his reads) and someone being scum. but he has a lot of potential and he’s intelligent.

i’m still at that experience level where i sometimes do dumb things because i can’t help it, and i can kind of get reads out of how people react to that but I don’t think I’d ever want to do it on purpose.


@Aero: but Thor has claimed cop and Shin has claimed VT so … oh wait sometimes people can lie. keep forgetting that about this game. it could be that Shin is the cop and Thor is the BP and they said it the opposite way around to wifom the other team.

I really liked the setup too, Aero!

For me it was mostly myself that I was frustrated with this game. I was being really lacklustre and it wasn’t because I was a PR trying to lurk it was because I just couldn’t get any reads and couldn’t find anything to latch onto and then I kept having embarassing failures at reading people and kept getting into fights with my friends and I kept failing to see htings from other people’s points of view.

also if you’re VT and you’re really sure that the counterwagon to you is a town PR then self hammering is optimal to prevent them having to claim.

but these are edge cases. most of the time, self hammering isn’t the right play.

our newbie game (with frogger and bbt) almost got to 100 pages but then it didn’t because one of the spammier people replaced out and i lynched the other and I’m somewhat spammy too but I’d already “solved the game” (lined up all the lynches i needed) so i didn’t have a reason to be spamming after that. We got to 90 pages, though!

and yeah, Thor is being obvscum at this point. he’s not even trying.
