Where I think she's doing the exact "your read is based on your mental model of how scum!peta would interact with the thread and i find expectations of behavior to not be the best for making accurate reads." thing she was critiquing in defending you while trying to use it to explain a scum read on me.

I find this vast difference in approach when talking about two different slots to be interesting at the very least and yes I do think one possible explanation for why one would discredit a method when talking about one slot and then use it yourself when talking about your own thoughts on another slot might be that you are partnered with the former.

i guess i see what you're saying about the reasoning being used in one area being different to another but we are different players so i can see a townie doing. on the whole though i think ari is scummy as of right now so inclined not to quibble over that

it just raises my hackles a bit to see someone do that sort of preflip associative on me based entirely on something someone else said about me

I like to call out stuff like that as I see it because otherwise I will forget about it entirely. I think poking at possible associatives while I'm reading helps me sort of figure out a map of what slots are related to each other as I read and try to understand the game through that lens, then when flips happen I can go back to that map and try to reevaluate the pre flip thoughts I had.

Not to get too deep into theory but I've been really trying to conceptualize the game as like...interacting nodes that group out together and for patterns and in this model there are certain keystone reads which form the basis for reading a whole bunch of other slots.

One more thing to note here that you might have picked up on is that I think you're one of the aforementioned keystone reads for me this game, I noted a lot of weirdness early in the game with people calling you town with little justification and aris method dissonance was another example of that. This isn't a scum read, really, I like you lean slightly town for play yesterday as I noted in my final catchup post yesterday, and there are plenty of reasons a town slot would be treated the same way, I just think that a lot of things fall into place for me if I can correctly sort you.

Re: Ari when I have observed Ari as scum I have seen a lot of poking and asking questions that don't really lead anywhere, which I don't think have a lot of purpose behind them. I think ari tries to mimic her town play style but isn't super great at finding real things to push on, and I don't think I see her doing anything remotely like that in this game so I don't really understand scum reads on her.
