tbf it is a lot easier to see things from a detached pov in spec

in game i might have still had the initial read

(your opening was strong but it felt to me like it was more aimed at establishing presence and getting people to townread you than natural solving. i do the "early push someone who typically becomes obvtown later" move a lot, its generally a really good entry point imo)

but probably would have lost confidence in it and been unwilling to push it

like in house of the dragon i was reading along and if i had been in spec i would have been hard tunneled on you and datisi, but once i replaced in i lost confidence in those reads and they kinda dropped off because i thought my case to support them wasn't good enough to justify them to others

sometimes being more engaged in thread and being more reliant on leaning on the relationships that develop within the game is useful for me (and often feels necessary), but it also can create blind spots in terms of reads

if i end up playing again i might see if i can try to test out a playstyle shift and bring some of the spec mentality into games

the dannflor/andresvmb interaction is actually so fucking good for flavour. i'm super sad that i'm both busier than i expected to be and that my mental health has gone down the shitter again because this game would've been so fun to write for!!
