Each player starts in one of the mini-forest areas. There are various items around the arena, guarded by mob spawners. The most valuable are right on top of the tower, but it's heavily guarded...

izak, what are you using to make the world? Can't just be creative because of the spawners.

Single Player Commands, WorldEdit, and TooManyItems. SPC lets you convert any block to a spawner of your choice, by pointing at it and typing "/spawner Creeper" (for example). That means you can have spawners that wouldn't normally appear, like magma cubes, slimes, creepers, ghasts, zombie pigmen, etc.

You can have enderdragon spawners too, but I don't think I'll be putting many of them in.

What kind of state is the arena in? I haven't been on since last night. Also, if you're on without me, you'll have to put up with the regular day/night cycle. That plugin still isn't behaving.

If I have time, I might load my improved PvP version. It has less spawners throughout, starts you off with armor, food, flint and steel, and torches, and has various resources (mostly potions) in unguarded chests.

PvP Arena v1.1 (for Minecraft 1.2.5)

This version aims to make the map easier to play, so more players are likely to survive and end up in PvP situations. The previous version was way to hard, and it was just a survival contest, not a fight. However, the insanely powerful stuff at the top of the tower will still be suitably tricky to get. Also, this version will completely screw Om's chances if he sticks to his old strategy. I'll load it onto my server some time soon.

Changelog:

- Removed all land outside the arena (to stop slimes hurting the mob cap)
- Cut down the number of spawners
- - Silverfish are unchanged
- - 2 Magma Cubes in each corner instead of 3
- - Removed Creeper spawners guarding the food
- - All other spawners halved
- Changed starting equipment (you now get full leather armor, 4 steak, 16 torches, and a flint & steel)
- Scattered various other equipment across the arena (potions, ender pearls, TNT)

I've finally made a spider farm. Manual killing, so we can get spider eyes (they only drop if a player kills them). It's by my 6th house, head to the left from the portal.

That for me is a long way. You have to expect me to:
- make it to town without dying
- make it through the nether without dying
- get what I need in the jungle without dying
- make my way back through the nether without dying
- make my way back to my house without dying

And I am especially good at dying. Plus, if it is where I thought it is located on the map, it's a shorter distance for me to go there and back on foot.

Regarding the Survival Games, I don't think I'll be spawning mobs, but I WILL be adding increasingly powerful items to the chests in the middle. The chests spread around the arena will just avout keep you alive, but to really boost your chances you'll need the stuff from the middle.

We should ask some of Maru's people if they are interested. We really should have as many people as possible, it's a big arena. We could not run into each other for days.

This is why we have the host/eliminated players: to drive us together SAFELY, not by doing stupid shit. Lava is wonderful for this purpose. Or a forest fire. Or TNT on a distant island.

Yeah, I'm planning to use the improved items and feasts as the primary way of keeping people together, but if anyone is being really stubborn about it (bear in mind I can check your coordinates and stuff), I may creative-mode someone to herd you back.

Ok, I kinda forgot, we're also going to use a plugin affecting mob spawns for the Survival Games. The creator recommends that it's done without mobs, or with them to make it VERY challenging. So to keep it interesting without totally overwhelming you all, the ONLY hostile mobs spawning will be Zombies. Also the only passive mob will be pigs, because wolves and cows are CRAZY OP for this kind of thing. I'll put some extra arrows in the starting chests to compensate for the lack of skellies.

And that Skyblock thing looks AWESOME, please tell me you'll run the PvP version!

In other news, my client is totally fucked. I can fly, I'm immune to fall damage, servers randomly kick me every few minutes and I get mega lag when I run.

Whoever it was that was thinking of automating the melon farm, hold off on that. There's a really compact design I want to try out first.

My idea was to keep it in the same format it is now and have any redstone underground. Basically I wanted to do what chesskid has at his house and have sticky pistons under all the dirt blocks were melons/pumpkins might grow. Wire those all up to a button using underground wire, and hit the button to lift the dirt blocks up, destroying the grown stuff on top.

That's the simplest way, but I was thinking of a tower design that pushes all the slices to a single point. Most of us use melons for food, so I'm sure it would be a welcome addition.
