Alright, here's how this game can play out. We all have 2 wishes. We can use them in the same Night phase. We all use our wishes on Night 1 to Cop the person above and below us on the player list. This will result in an instant town victory. Backfired Cop results will provide an innocent result on the player they were used on, and using both of our wishes on two different people removes any possible outliers of the scum being able to hide, unless all three of them are in a row on the player list, which would just be silly.

So, here's the Night 1 plan:

-L- Cops Vifam and adorkable
adorkable Cops -L- and Balrog
Balrog Cops adorkable and Benmage
Benmage Cops Balrog and captaineddie
captaineddie Cops Benmage and Human Destroyer
Human Destroyer Cops captaineddie and kiwieagle
kiwieagle Cops Human Destroyer and Klick
Klick Cops kiwieagle and MrZephyr
MrZephyr Cops Klick and PeregrineV
PeregrineV Cops MrZephyr and Sanjay
Sanjay Cops PeregrineV and Seanald
Seanald Cops Sanjay and Vifam
Vifam Cops Seanald and -L-.

This is effectively playing the game in a fashion similar to Texas Justice Mafia, where everyone Vigs the person below them, resulting in about a 70% chance that the town will win. However, our chances increase substantially because we're not Vigging everyone and everyone will get an opportunity to post their results. It shouldn't be hard to discern whose wishes backfired based on who was Nightkilled, so we effectively have the game won by Day 2.

Alternatively, we could all use one wish to Cop the person below us and then take turns reviving dead townies, but that just seems lame and inefficient, especially since we'd have to coordinate who's wishing so as to make it effective (thus using 3 wishes a Night just to revive one person) and we could really only revive 3 townies that way, anyway. It just seems like a poor use of resources.

Any takers on this game-winning plan? Or would you guys prefer to play it in a manner that doesn't allow us to win instantly? I'd have suggested a mass Vigging but that just seems silly, given that we will literally end the game on Night 1 (unless, again, the scum are all in a row on the player list) with everyone dead.

There's no sense in lynching toDay if we opt to go with this plan, as it decreases our resources.

I don't see how it requires a huge leap, given that it only requires the reading comprehension of an 8-year old and a knowledge of common Mafia game themes.

Oh yeah. I actually never got to play on MTGS. I signed up because a group came from the WOTC boards, but there wasn't enough room in the game PK set up. I tried to replace into other games, but was too slow. Since it was becoming another forum to check, I just stuck with the two I already have.

Groups of three players that can investigate each other tonight. We are allowed to organize, so having groups of three allows for pretty good coverage yet reduces the gamebreakiness of the first plan.

I would rather you choose the groups, since you are my strongest townread.

Is anybody actually believing that -L-'s town? If not... do we even bother replacing that slot? It's kinda mean to make someone read through 13 pages of fluff only to be lynched a couple of posts later.

Did you consider that Benmage could be playing differently here because, I dunno, maybe...he was the Doctor in that game? :shifty:

He is intimately acquainted with -L-'s replacing out as town under pressure.

Yet, when he sees -L- replacing out as town here, he's like "yup, there's your scum".

Has -L- replaced out as scum before? I'm not seeing enough data to come to the same conclusion you are. His being a Doctor can drastically affect the way he played that game, versus this game where everyone knows what everyone else is. We don't have to play close to the chest because we're in a uniform open setup.

I also think you're putting too much weight on your meta arguments.

Because, Sanjay, you can't expect a player who's not super-experienced and widely heralded as a fantastic player (not that I would know who's heralded around here) to play exactly the same way in every game with every role. That's asinine.

As the quality of his posting has not improved since then, I can only presume that this is how he always plays. What exactly was so terrible about my reason for voting him initially?

Let's discuss Night strategy.

Obviously it's a bad idea to wish for any kills because if those backfire, we die instead. I fully expect to get backfired toNight since I am all but confirmed at this point and I will be wishing accordingly.

As fun as the idea is, changing alignments is probably a bad idea because Q said he wouldn't tell me what happens if you wish to become a Neutral and you get backfired.

Copping and Doccing people seems okay still, since that backfired would result in an incorrect result or a Vig shot. We could also revive dead townies.

I wonder what would happen if we all wished to be Bulletproof.

@L: All in good time, my dear.

@kiwi: Would you prefer I call you scum and push your wagon instead of stupid? Why would I have asked the mod 500000 questions about what I can and can't wish for in the pre-game? Do you see any downside to my initial plan of 'COP EVERYONE'? Q didn't - that's why he banned us from committing to my plan. He even commended me for it - why would the mod publicly say, 'Good job finding a way to make your team lose!' if I were scum? The way he phrased it basically clears me. I'm sorry your reading comprehension hasn't passed the 3rd grade level, but you, L, and Zeph are the only people who don't seem to realize the subtext IS there. You say I'm not a good player, but you don't even know how I play. And this is coming from the guy whose garbage case on the nearly-confirmed town is based on an absolute lie! Get over yourself, dude. Seriously.

Wow, L. It hasn't even been 2 full days. I haven't been home in the past 48 hours. This is the last goddamn time that I'm going to repeat that I can NOT vote and I can NOT quote when I'm phone posting. I told you I would try to get to you at some point tonight. To push a little further, you mentioned people's observations of my meta - you're going to have to excuse me for calling you out for being full of shit, given that nobody here KNOWS my meta. Which I've stated at least once. But wait, you would know all of this if you had actually ISO'd me like you claimed. Whoops?

You say I'm not scumhunting. Okay, let's run through a mental activity here. What actions do you qualify as scumhunting? Feel free to provide as many reasons as possible for why you perceive scumhunting in the manner that you do.

Fucking simple.

Yes, let's trust the person who has a different alignment from us to not fuck us over! What a great plan. :D

Unfortunately, that omits the main point. Hooked on Phonics, look it up.

I'm quite familiar with the English language, thank you. My mommy gave me Hooked on Phonics when I was a wee little Balrog.

The main point is that you chose to play against the majority's win condition, for which you must die.

Nothing can confirm Vifam's statement. Moreover He doesn't know if he was backfired (albiet assuming Zeph is scum as well saving his call) ....Or Vifam was scum, and lied but on a true townie.

**Zeph needs to claim what he asked the mod.

****Note Also scum could backfire two people!

Confirm what? That I made us all neighbors and you essentially got pissed? Sure, I'll confirm that. Why did you get so upset?

Why did you make us neighbors?

@Mod: How did you allow a single ability to target two people in one Night? You told me that you could not make such a wish.

If I didn't stick to my word, you lynch tomorrow, durrrrrrr. It would be stupid for me not to. Again, try to pretend that you can think more than 1 step ahead.

Oh yes, let's potentially waste a Night of information and generate a potential mislynch for toDay over confirmed anti-town with the chance to be at a higher-risk situation, as well as potentially let you get a kill in - but no, you're right, we should do the stupid thing and leave the SK alone.

Oh man, I was about to flip the fuck out because I forgot we already lynched an Anti-Fairy. Because we couldn't have controlled the lynch toDay with two non-voters and three scum alive. :/

GOOD THING THERE'S ONE DOWN

@Vifam: Oh, I thought by "taking his role" you were also taking on the "dead" part. Okay.

Cool, so, confirmed players:

L
Balrog
eddie
HD
Zepher

So it's either Seanald or Vifam.

Seanald, did you wish last Night? If so, what for? If not, why not?

So yeah, we win. Wanna give up now? Because you can't stop us from lynching the only two non-confirmed players at this point.

So, let me see if I can remember what I said earlier.

Obviously the game was overly town-sided. That's a given. If you revise the setup, Q, consider a mass 1-Shot Backfire that can be used in addition to the NK.

As I said, I was disappointed that this game came down to "let's see who can confirm themselves with their wishes". Though I guess it's for the best since almost the entire town's play was so awful that every single one of my scum reads was wrong.

Sanjay, you were wonderful and maybe we'll play together again someday - that would be cool.

I disliked that the town didn't know what would happen if their wishes backfired. While I agree that the scum needed an extra leg to stand on, depriving the town of information that should be given to them is definitely not the way to go about it. Also, Q, if you want me to run some more game-breaking scenarios by you when you revise the setup so you can make "Da Rulez" more cohesive to the setup initially without having to retroactively change everything, let me know.

I liked the premise of the setup but knew it would ultimately be a town victory simply because of how overpowered we were. Consider dropping the town down to 1 wish each, as well.

I think that's everything. If anyone has any questions, let me know.

Oh right, I'm still disappointed I couldn't be a Cult Leader who recruited SKs. That would have been the best role.
