Limit it to one yes-or-no question per dead player, and I think it'd be fine.

It would basically make him a cop with a chance at dying though - first mafia member dies:

"Is XXX one of you partners?"

You'll know if its mafia or town.

I see the psychic (though really more of someone who does a seiance) as useable in a multi (3+) faction game was a weakened cop. I would even drop the chance at dying.

Interesting would be a similar role - the hypnotist. But have him have a chance at failure (say 25%) of getting the wrong information.

Execpt there might be some questions you could ask that are even stronger then that in some situations, like

"Are Yosarian, IH, and Coron all pro-town?"

If the answer to that is "yes", and there's only 7 people left alive, then the town just won the game.

Are there any sites/pages that have a list of a large majority of the roles that have been made up that have good potential whether they have been used or not? I mean in addition to the standard ones. If not, does anyone think they're up to the task? It would be very helpful.

The Princeton site has a bunch. (scroll down) (Also here in a different/better format.) Their names are a bit different, and it's for face-to-face mafia, but most of them can be used as-is or slightly adapted.

the roles, as anyone with a bit of imagination can come up with varients on existing roles, and original roles aren't that hard to think up (though they often aren't very good :p). Basically, imagine anything you can think of that involves killing, protecting, blocking, investigating, voting, ending the day/night, or doing random things (post restrictions, voting restrictions, etc.) to other players, or combining/strengthening/weakening any of the above, and you've got a role.
