Recap from memory was we went back in, fought a goblin raiding party that just came back and wolves on the other side. Calm Animal was great for the wolves after Who almost got mauled to death. In other words, I'm going to die in there. Main plotline is over, gg, well played.

I had already run, but did you have a chance to run and take Ballad with you?

More details: I stayed at the back due to having 1 HP left, Ballad went down pretty early, Clovis refused to consider running, I ran pretty early because we obviously weren't winning and I couldn't do much to help at that point, Shadow ran a bit after me, then Clovis fell and Miniri ran.

Oh, also, in case anyone's wondering why I didn't do much, I ran out of spells. I Mage Armored myself round 1, it wore off while we were shopping, I mage armored myself, Coyote, and Shadow (4 so far), I attempted to color spray the first cultists, I attempted to color spray the second cultists while they were invisible, (6) and then sleep (7), out of L1s. And I used 2 BCSs and a glitterdust, leaving me with 1 L2 which was being saved for an invisgtfo (Especially important given how I had no expeditious gtfos left). Daze was a cantrip, which was why I used it.

You know how Beguilers are like sorcerers with zero damage spells?

Warmages are like sorcerers with ONLY damage spells.

Why not just be a sorcerer though?

Beguilers get skills to compensate, what do warmages get? As far as I can see the only thing that matters is +Imy modifier to damage, but they cast from Cha so Eh. I mean, yes we get the fun sibling rivalry between Who+Who2 and Who3, but meh, I'd rather Who3 just be a wizard.

It's kinda funny, how bad I feel is inversely correlated with how bad I feel. I feel really bad about your death, you forgive me, I feel kinda bad about Miniri, I think she's sort of annoyed but nothing compared to Quadz, I feel no shame over Quadz' death but he's pissed at me.

Also, the burning skeleton saved my life. Had it not been there being attacked by the spider, the spider would have attacked me instead, might have rooted me with a web, at which point I would have been killed by all of them. I don't know what it was, but I am grateful.

Also, magic items:
I saved Shadow's gloves of DEX. Quadz' new character does not want them. I bid for them, as my new character will be a warmage who uses ranged touch spells.
My old character had a bag of holding. My new character isn't as specifically geared towards having a bag of holding (My old character had lots of skills, and half the point of a bag of holding is to put all the random shit which gives you bonuses on skill checks in there), and also if I get the gloves of DEX then me having two magic items would be unfair.

Also, should we switch from all having individual money to having a party pot? I vote we do.

Everburning Torches cost 110 gp and thus can be sold for 55 gp.
Continual flame costs 50 gp.
Torches cost 1 cp.

Making an everburning Torch costs 50.01 gp. They sell for 55 gp. Thus, for every torch, I get 4.99 gp profit.

Teela and Who3 fought some stuff, wiped them out, Caled joined them, they fought some more stuff, a wereratperson bit Who3, we all scrambled around madly for a cure, we eventually got it (Teela cast remove curse. Who3 was very grateful) we went back, fought some more stuff, met some people, almost got massacred by an undead horror, but escaped (Teela had to carry Who3 away from it because he had been paralyzed, again he was very grateful). We delivered the hat of one of the people we met to Dr. K, he insisted on coming with us if we went back there. (We went down a hole)

Yes its speed and reflexes were terrifying, but all it was doing was trying to paralyze and Teela had enough fortitude save to be basically immune provided not too many checks were required, and given how it didn't attack you because you got away first, it actually does make sense that we made it out.

I'm glad we did go in, given how we made it out. We got xp, and also now know what it is and what it can do. When we do eventually go in, if we all drink antitoxin beforehand we get +5 on saving throws against poison, which makes the paralysis unlikely to affect us, we know that it has some method of seeing invisible things so we don't rely on that, and we know that it's insanely fast. We also know not to use things with reflex saves, and definitely not to maximize things which are totally negated by reflex saves.

We're probably going to be taking on the spider today, we should go in with a plan. (Who2 described the encounter in intricate detail to Who3, so this isn't metagaming)

We have to deal with the spider and the mummies. The spider is a fan of cutting off our escape, and also has tremorsense so invisibility won't help against it. Also it can anchor people and make them visible.

So, it restricts both invisibility and mobility.

We should stay at the entrance in a group, meatshields in the front, casters in the back. The spider is large so we get LoS at it even if we're behind people. Clerics and meatshields focus on dealing with the undead, Caled focus on healing, Brian and I can focus on killing the spider. If they refuse to animate until we're deeper into the chamber, we destroy the mummies one by one before they animate. (That's possible, right? It should be possible) If the spider stays back and lets the mummies handle us, we kill them first then take on the spider. If they all retreat to deep into the chamber then we go forwards, staying as a group, not letting them get behind us. If they try to get us so far that they can flank us, we refuse to go that far. As far as we know, they lack ranged weapons besides the spider's damageless anchoring webs, whereas we have magic missiles, scorching rays, and eldritch blasts, so they'll lose a ranged fight. Therefore, they'll keep it melee, attack us, and we'll be able to maintain a defensive line near the entrance.

Sound good?

Also, we should ask Dr. K if he knows anything about Tomb Spiders and the mummies. They might have abilities we don't know about.

All I can think of is "rain down destruction and pray". We don't know if the high reflex save comes from base save or dex, and we don't know thus don't know if it has a similarly high AC/touch AC. It's probably too high a level to be turned, and it's too fast for melee attacks. We should drink Antitoxins going in, and the clerics should prepare several hide from undeads to cover our escape if we need it.

You forgot about the dex bonus to AC 13. You'll actually have AC 16. Speaking of which, you should probably switch to a different armor which has more max dex bonus if you stay a lycanthrope.

I think it sounds as if you'll benefit defensively, but take a hit offensively, at least until you learn to control your shape. I thus vote you stay a lycanthrope but I'm biased because I'm a caster who relies on hiding behind you.

In case anyone wants to know, a summary of the RL game I played afterwards, very very different to the last one:

We hunt down the orcs, rescue the people. While fighting the orcs, it basically looks like a bunch of 5 year olds playing with real weapons. Everyone kept rolling natural 1s, and we play such that instead of just missing something very very bad happens on a natural 1. I was taken out first round, one paladin got her hammer stuck in a tree, the other paladin sent his axe flying, several orcs killed themselves, it was a general failure. But we won in the end.

We return to the bartender. He has a new task for us, deliver some random thing to someone in another town. We deliver it to someone. He tells us to deliver it to someone else (In the same town). It turns out that the thing we're delivering is to help some girl who got bitten by a vampire a long time ago. We decided to avenge her. We hunted for the vampire, it happened 3 years ago so we had no clues, we ended up realizing "wait, it's probably the guy caring for her". And paladin uses detect evil, it is the guy caring for her. We go back to the house of the person we first delivered the thing to. Also he had a husband who was there now. Apparently they knew the dude who was actually a vampire, and had already invited him into their house in the past so it wasn't safe but we kinda didn't realize. The husband went off to do something and we went with him fearing he would be attacked by the vampire. The one who stayed home was attacked by the vampire. (One of us wanted to stay with him because we all kinda knew that the vampire would attack whoever we didn't go with, but we did not want to split the party. I specifically did not want to go through 2 consecutive split party TPKs). We and the husband hunted the vampire to his lair (We realized it was probably the library, we went to the library, and it turned out to be the library), there were lots of corridors, dancing lights was very useful, we found the girl who had been bitten 3 years ago there, she turned out to be a vampire and attacked, but she was a relatively weak one so we killed her easily. Then we found the other one, he was very very strong, it was mostly just NPC vs NPC, the one on our side won (We were distracted by various things, we kinda helped kill the vampire a bit). We found the kidnapped dude, his husband and one party member left, everyone else was weirdly averse to looting a crypt so all the loot went to me.
(Oh, also, the barbarian left the party before we started this session, one paladin had to leave before we went to the library, the rogue left before the final showdown).

Then we found out that we weren't supposed to have gone hunting for the vampire and that we had been supposed to just deliver the thing and go about our day, the vampire hunt was made up by the DM on the spot after we insisted on finding it.

for example of a player trying to abuse jaunt, if someone charges you, you can't just say "I jaunt 10ft to the right" and watch him charge into an empty space. Instead, he'll get to take back the charge and do something else, like maybe charge to your new position.

an example of better usage of jaunt might be to blink behind a nearby wall when you see someone try to charge you/cast a spell at you, and force him to do something else.

That makes sense. Still definitely worth it though.

Don't use D&D Wiki for anything. Bunch of bad players make a habit of writing in things they want in there and try to use it as evidence to convince their DMs that they are right.

Headmaster Fink isn't going to share his spell list with you without reasons. You will have to make it worth his time.

My thoughts before creating this character:
"I'm going back to being a pacifist. Battlefield control is where the fun's at."
"I am freaking done with evocation"
"I am also freaking done with enchantment." (Who and Who2 were too into enchantment)
"Conjuration and Transmutation both seem cool, let's see which is better"
And then I decided that conjuration was better. Barring evocation and enchantment was easy.
While creating my character:
"I have so few spell slots"
"Oh hey, I have no Abjuration spells"
"Let's go for focused specialist".

Looking back on it I should have barred Necromancy instead, I would have lost random rebuffs but I wouldn't have lost an entire category the way I do with Abjuration, but eh, my character will die eventually and when he does his brother can bar Necromancy.

I already copied the spells I wanted so we're free to return them.

Though actually, we get looting rights, right? According to PHB, the spell books sell for 50 gp/filled out page. Can we sell them for that much?

Also, now that we have found a camp where we are basing our operations+resting+etc. do we have lots of time to do what we want? Because copying the spells took time which I assumed we had.

Also, we saw the enemy and lived. Instead of blindly running into their base, should we try scrying on them first?

I should still cast darkvision on someone in the tower. We don't want him to see light and get spooked, meaning we need someone who can see him without light.
