uh sure /in I'll take a 1/8 chance of survival (giving the enemy a die with fewer sides... might be nice?)

In post 80, Ircher wrote:Hey, the odds are like ridiculously low right now though.

15/36 to win a SINGLE match; that's 5/12.

5/12 ^ 3 = 125/1728 which is ~120/1700 ~ 6/85 ~ 7/90. (Very Roughly)

Only 7 out of 90 adventures will succeed; that's ~7.7% which is ridiculously low.
It's a little short of double that - 1/8, or 12.5%. Ties are just replayed, you're treating them there as if they're losses. Each round is a straight 50/50.

It's not so easy to clear Level 1.
Maximum 17 rolls per fight, you need to win more than 7 of them to survive. A quick check on wolframalpha says the odds of that are roughly 68.5%.
Therefore, the chance to win five
consecutive
fights is 68.5%^5, which is... about 15.13%. All in all, your survival rate has only increased by roughly 21% over Level 0. And the overall chance to reach Level 2 from a fresh start... about 1.89%.

Ircher: To make your maths not suck, you should remove ties from the chance altogether. 15 "win" outcomes, 6 "tie" outcomes, 15 "loss" outcomes. Since a tie results in a reroll, you can remove those outcomes from consideration altogether, meaning the winrate isn't 15/36 but instead 15/30 - precisely 50%.

[-snip-]
I'll make you a deal: If both of our current level 1 adventurers die before anyone else reaches level 1, without reaching level 2, then I'll reduce the enemy's die to 1d5 for Levels 0 and 1, with the understanding that it's not a permanent reduction.

With two adventurers at that level, I'm not really expecting them to
both
die (maybe one), so if they do, I owe the players an apology. :P
72% chance says they both die, so I suppose we'll see what happens.
Giving the enemy a d5 would improve the chance of winning a single round from 50% to 60%. As such, the "Level 0 survival rate" goes from from 12.5% to 21.6%, and the Level 1 survival rate from 15.13% to 61.75%. Given how that's a huge increase for Level 1, if you want to keep the chance relatively low, maybe just tweak the HP values for Level 1 (or reduce the fights required instead). If you want Level 1 to be a lot easier, though, d5 is probably the way to go.

Nominating a co-mod or someone who can "roll for enemy" would perhaps be a not-bad idea if people are worried about things taking super forever.

May as well play it out until I lose (which should be soon, at least with 75% chance) but I'm happy to volunteer for this if you're willing to take me.

Level 2:
Stats unlocked!

Each player now has three stats:
HP - base of 10, increased by 5 per point invested. Helps you not die when you take damage
Attack - base of 0, increased by 1 per point invested. Every point in attack increases your rolls by 1.
Defence - base of 0, increased by 1 per point invested. Every point in defence decreases your opponents' rolls by 1 (to a minimum of 1, rolls cannot be reduced to 0)

You have three stat points to immediately invest.
Enemies also receive stat points, assigned randomly (via a 3d3), the key difference being that their base HP is 6. As players receive more stat points, their opponents will as well.

Finally, to speed things up, you now deal the difference between rolls as damage. For example, 7 vs 2 would deal 5 damage.

A player needs to win
seven fights
in order to reach Level 3.
This is a
local upgrade
: In order to use the Level 2 rules, a player MUST reach Level 2.

swyellowtail needs to assign his three stat points, then roll a 3d3 to determine that of his first opponent.

"right now" being the operative word, of course. There's a few things like that...

In post 860, KingdomAces wrote:I think the monster has two points of defense and one point of attack, not three points of HP, three points of attack, and two points of defense. So effectively it's just 10 health vs. 6 health, since the stats perfectly cancel each other out.
That's more accurate, yes. :P

There wasn't any particular reason behind +5HP.
The 1ATK 2DEF was the intention:
Roll 3d3, a 1 rolled is a point in HP, a 2 rolled is a point in ATK, a 3 rolled is a point in DEF.

I'm fine with +3HP, I haven't looked into doing the numbers from here on but that wouldn't surprise me.

Anna's asked me to handle swyellowtail's rolls for a bit, so...
swyellowtail: 10HP, 2ATK, 1DEF
Opponent: 6HP, 1ATK, 2DEF

Resulting in +0 to swyellowtail's rolls and +0 to the opponent's rolls.
swyellowtail sends a 4 at us... (insert RP text here it's 3am and we're explaining how the rules work shhhh)

pfffff
swyellowtail: 10HP, 2ATK, 1DEF
Opponent: 6HP, 0ATK, 3DEF

swyellowtail receives 2 - 3 = -1 to his rolls.
Opponent receives 0 - 1 = -1 to his rolls.
(you'll want to put 1d6-1 in the dice tag, but reminder that rolls cannot be reduced below 1)
