As the fire slowly burned down, one of the last "humans" began to change to a more otherworldly form. It slinked around the outskirts, looking for opportunities. But just as it was about to absorb a human, another pulled a burning stick from the fire and hurled it into the beast. It quickly burned to death in a chorus of loud, freakish screams.

Now only four of the men of the station remained. Whiskey bottles were broken out as they acknowledged the futility of their situation. Soon they would have to retreat back into the base to attempt to weather the night. But for now, they had some peace.
