this strategy was explained in the first two pages of this game. we pick three people to sit down for 1-2 hours and do the counting near the end of the day, so we can guarantee that we hit our target of 325.

people should still post and count in the meantime, but we cannot rely on this kind of crowdsourcing alone to get the count up to 325, especially considering we haven't been able to get it beyond 50 something in the last three days.

pedit: @chick, I'd say false. Saying I'm very careful about posts/page when I'm the only one to make a posts/page mistake is not a "weak" reason, it's false. The only way to townread me off something that isn't true is to know I'm town in the first place. I haven't really been pushing for your lynch, either, I'm just noting alignment-indicative things as I go.

Well yea, I'm a bit peeved. If this were a different game without the challenge, you wouldn't have questioned me being gone for 10 or so minutes at a time. I finished my spare cycle at the moment, and came back to refresh figuring it would be my turn again soon. It's not reasonable to expect people to sit and watch this like a hawk, even if they're idly around.

After my mistake, I stayed and helped spam to get the count back up. I've tried to atone for what I did. I've been nervous to the point of paranoia since then, triple checking that I've typed the number, and at that, the correct number, before forming any sentences. I literally had a nightmare last night where I forgot what numbers were.

And I wasn't the only person asking lurkers for content. Mylo just happened t be around when I asked so I asked them directly. Someone who took issue with that - can you tell me why it was bad? And don't just say that it was bad. Actually give me a reason why. I don't actually feel like I have concrete things I can defend myself on.

for the record here though, it's not that asking lurkers for content is bad in and of itself, it's that it's really the only thing you've done and it looks worse when there's nothing town in your ISO alongside it. There's been more juicy topics of discussion that you've ignored entirely, and your scumreads are all just people who haven't played the game. It feels like you're playing safe and not picking fights or getting your hands dirty.

I think the optimal strategy here is to control who we want choosing the number. I don't see any real strategy on actually picking the good number. I suppose we could talk about what number is calling out to us the most? We have 1/3 shot at getting it right. At least those are pretty good odds.

Similarly, you also did not mention NK15 at all yesterday. If you wanted to consolidate on something, why did you let everyone else pick the target during day phase yesterday? It seems like you had no preferences of your own whatsoever for who you personally thought was scum or wanted to lynch.

I had town reads yesterday, not so much scum reads. But what I did was the exact definition of consolidating. I went with who I thought would be lynched. That seems to be what you're questioning here. Before it seemed like a semi-solid plan was forming, I was up for lynching within the lurkers/empty posters.

Hi, I'm currently travelling for work, and I'm struggling to get into this game so apologies if content is a bit lacking. Will read and write in order, so probs change my mind as I read through haha.

Looking through the votes, Pine's and Mylo's explanations rub off on me the wrong way, and to a degree ofrhz. I feel their justification came off as weak and uncommitted. Whilst we (myself included) would naturally tend to associate those with lengthy and in-depth explanations as more pro-town, I would also be a bit cautious with this since it is an appearance you can easily make.

I very briefly browsed through some of Mylo's games to try to see what NSG was thinking. I assume NSG you are suggesting his meta as town is very cheerful/relaxed/easy going? Where as he actively tries as scum? I can see that a bit, though not super strong. Could you explain a bit more on why you are so sure?

Continuing reading, the one I'm kinda becoming unsure about is Chickadee. I felt on day 1 she played the sorry/pity card, yeh ok, we bought it then. She knew she was very unlikely to get lynched. The last will just feels a bit ehhhh as she continues to play that card. She said she regrets not pushing her scum reads, then comments on D2 that she doesn't have any reads or feels like sharing them (isn't this how you push scum reads??)

And I see on the next page GL makes the same connection ahaha.

Scum reads are used for pressure. The voting here is a bit different, but where you don't share scum reads then how do you expect to get pressure and discussion to validate/refute your scum reads?

Bit disappointed by the challenge. Suppose town's best bet just for a good town read to randomly pick something (though not provable), our chances of winning are still shit. Alternatively, if a null or weak town read did successfully randomly pick the correct number, this would add (some) town credit and be helpful for forming a town block (useful considering the fortunate mechanics).

I feel like you're twisting what I'm saying here. I never said scum reads. I said reads. Reads can go either way. Pushing does not have to be toward a lynch. You can push a town read on someone.

Not the bottom, per se. Among the bottom. I'm also of the opinion GL's lynch would reveal a good lot, and cut out a lot of noise, should he flip scum. The benefits of lynching scum!GL are really high IMO.

Also, I wanted to announce that I am now 13% sure fairies exist, but the scientific struggle continues.

1) I don't think Pine's case on GL was persuasive. That doesn't make Pine scum (the jury is still out on that one), but I would like to hear what points Pine laid out were persuasive to Friday.
2) When asked what about Pine's case was persuasive, Prof Fridays dodged the question (and again in 992) and instead decided to list a bunch of random reasons to justify a GL lynch.

I think one of Chickadee/Enigma is likely to be scum. Chickadee still isn't really engaging with much and her turnaround on Prof Fridays based off of solely ofrhz's post is a bit weird. Enigma I have a hard time ruling out as scum but also have a hard time ruling him out as town. I think more discussion and reads from him would help me a lot here.

Actually what I said was that it was compelling enough for me to look back over that slot...which I have not done yet. I have several 11 hour works days ahead of me. I'll try to get to it tomorrow.



Can we pick a first number already? I'd really like to have time to asses, and not just pick numbers back to back. If no one is opposed, I would say Irrelephant can pick the first number. I'm not sure why people want to pick a number already. If we get a bad number we would run the risk of someone picking another and ending the day prematurely. Yeah, whoever did that would probably be lynched, and in the worst case scenario it could be a confused town player who did not know what they were doing.

I think everyone knows what's going on. Kokichi is the only one who has expressed general misunderstanding, but at the same time I don't feel wants to pick a number. And if someone did speed-pick, they are absolutely the lynch.

Enigma saying it was more passive. I actually do give some town point for others pushing me, it was just a more involved interaction. I feel like Enigma asking me this was more straight forward and to the point. Others actually gave me something to push back against.

Also that post of mine had a curse word in place of "gosh", but like I said I don't like to curse (as either alignment, you can meta me and check I have a reputation for politeness even when upset). When I posted it I also noticed that the tone was odd because of that word switch. Idk if that affects your read at all but there it is

The use of the curse word had no affect on me reading the post this way. At the time, no one knew which way the number would go. But you seemed to be using definite phrases, rather than worried phrases. It just struck me as odd. I've decided not to read further into it at the moment though, because it did not turn out to be the case. More than anything, I just wanted it in my ISO because it was something that really stuck out in my mind.

this push I really can't grok. If the day had ended, maybe Irrelephant's confidence would have been worth a side-eye. But the day didn't end, so this whole thing is invalid isn't it? I don't understand why a town!Chickadee would go ahead and post this anyway, while acknowledging that she's disregarding it. The thought process seems forced and I get vibes of "work for the sake of work" from this analysis, especially because she hasn't really pushed on much else this game so it can't be explained away as passing commentary inside of a full ISO. like you weren't sharing many reads because you didn't feel that you had good ones to share, but then you do feel compelled to share this despite it being invalidated when the day continued? and you're not really full-on scumreading Irrelephant to go with this either.

I don't need you to understand the irrelephant11 thing. I wouldn't lynch him over this no. I don't even really scum read him. But that post stuck out in my mind and I couldn't stop thinking about it, so for ease of finding it later if I thought relevant, I wanted it in my ISO. It's not really something I intended others to need to interact with. It's for my own personal notes, via ISO. It's easier for me to look through my own ISO and know what was going on when, than it is for me to look through someone else ISO to dig for things I want to find again. And other people have said it was an interesting thing to point out. I won't dig for who at the moment because I need to leave though.

Wow. I did not read anything yesterday, and suddenly this happens. I've read up on new posts, but I only have time for some quick replies tonight.

Pine has been playing clueless town most of the game... was this meant to get us to re-think Pine's alignment when he makes this mistake?

No. It was my reason for why we should not have picked numbers yet. Pine took a huge risk doing that, and it could have backfired badly.

Like if Irrelephant didn't know whether the day would end or not, he's town. If he's scum then he knew the day

end. So arguing that he's more suspicious because he knew the day

end just doesn't make any sense and I'm having a hard time seeing how town-Chickadee would genuinely think that way. Help me out here.

She said that the second number being correct was revealed while she was catching up. I can imagine her noticing that post and finding it suspicious, writing a post about it, seeing in the preview the number was in fact correct, but deciding to leave it in and editing her response.

What troubles me here is the lack of urgency. Irrelephant seems to have dumped everything that was on his mind into the thread, expecting the day to end at any moment. Chickadee shows no indication of having been similarly alarmed.

it happened. I got here mere minutes (like less than 5) of it being revealed. I didn't even have to refresh for it to show up, that's how close the timing was. I just finished catching up and it was already there.

I was more focused on catching up to see what happened.

Ah, well that's just how I generally approach things. Don't panic unless there's a reason to. I decided to catch up since there wasn't much, and at the end of my catch up it was already revealed. So why panic at that point?

Alright. So I'm going to try and walk through this timing thing as clearly as I can because there seems to be a lot of confusion around me concerning it.


Pine picked the first number. I saw and responded. I think we're all on the same page up to this point.

The following morning Pine picked a second number. This was at 8:03am my time. I came back around 11:15 my time and see there are more posts and decide to catch up. I see Pine picked a second number, and that there is a page after the one that number is on. So I catch up. I had not started any catch up post or anything. I just set out to catch up. I finally catch up and the last post I read upon catch up was the one where the number was revealed. That is the point at which I started my first post after catching up.



If day were ending right now, I'd vote enigma or ofhz, since it seems to be one of them or me. I'm obviously not voting me. Between the two, I'd go with ofhz, because I feel like enigma is putting in more effort, trying to be present.

but the point people are making is that a townie in your spot should have panicked when you saw Pine's second guess, instead of deciding to proceed with a catch-up (rather than immediately posting and dumping thoughts) and risk thread lock before you say anything.

It could have just as easily locked while typing a post. Any thoughts I needed to say I could have said in my final thoughts thingy that we do in the night phase. We approach things differently.



@Pine, I'm ok with ending the day now. I just wanted to try and set the timing right with what went down. I don't think further commenting on it is going to sway someone one way or the other from where they currently are on me.
