Because I'm going to be honest, 1047 just straight-up reads like satire. You had him as a scumlean, but like, posting a case on him just an hour after he posted one on you without any warning and basically mirroring a lot of his accusations... idk it just made it very hard to believe that you really believed it. It would have probably taken me an hour just to write up something like that so my intuition (which is presumably not right) would have been that you decided to counter-case catboi almost immediately upon seeing that he cased you (and that was your second response, your first being "that's a good scumread" which to me implies that you townread his case or at least are okay with it existing).

I am rambling but that's just because I'm very confused by that post. Can you elaborate a little on how you felt about catboi before and after the case, and why you chose to case him there?

my initial reaction is that, I think it made sense to scum read me. I don't think I'd done anything particularly towny and my first impression was that the read seemed well developed. I had had scum!catboi thoughts circulating for sometime but I didn't really want to out it until I had more of a chance to observe catboi.

I thought a little bit about whether I thought the read on me indicated town!catboi or not and decided that I didn't like how he outed it and that the town reads I'd outed didn't really make sense to scum read. I'll admit my lizard brain started going, oh no scum!catboi is discrediting me, I have to respond quick before he gets away with it, which really wasn't a proper reaction given the circumstances.

I do admit I was having some conflicting thoughts while writing the wall but I decided to finish it anyway to see what the reaction would be. I wish now that I hadn't because I don't think it did anything for anyone and I think I could've handled my confliction in a healthier way

catboi's response after that just made me feel like it was a trash read that I should have kept to myself

I realize it's a weird progression and I mostly just wish it never happened. I think I let pride ego inform that interaction more than I should have. with some distance I think catboi's scum read of me makes some sense and is generally towny. and I think I started wanting catboi to be scum after he cased me rather than actually objectively evaluating my reasoning

there's also something that probably isn't very interesting to anyone else but recently I'm really trying to push my self to actually improve at mafia and get to a level that I consider "good at the game."

and a large part of that is trying to force myself to have more conviction on reads I'd normally second guess myself out of or hedge on a lot more. so when I reach a crossroads where I start feeling unsure, I've been trying to force myself into having conviction and seeing what happens. in this case I think it was misapplied. I just need to get better at recognizing which of my reads are good and bad

1) I was applying conviction to a read that wasn't developed enough rather than a read that was fully developed. Like, I think my foundation was rotten and I should have realized that my self-doubt wasn't my ordinary self-doubt on otherwise solid reasons but self-doubt because most of my concerns were based not very solid foundations.
2) I think I expected a more conciliatory tone from scum!catboi. I don't really know why. But the exasperated tone of catboi's response I felt was towny and kinda snapped me out of it.
