Someone mentioned Python. I'm a python programmer too, but learning scheme is helping me become a better python progrmamer because I'm understanding concepts that I never really got before.
In programming you often want to test whether something is true, and if it is do one thing, if it's not, do something else. One way to do that in Scheme is with the procedure if.
So let's write a fibonacci program.
(define(fibonacci n) (if(<= n 1)n(+(fibonacci(- n 2)) (fibonacci(- n 1)))))
What this says is: Define fibonacci n to be a procedure such that if n is less than or equal to 1, return n, otherwise return the sum of the fibonacci of the difference between n and 2 and the fibonacci of the difference between n and 1.
So if I type in (fibonacci 4), this is what it's doing internally:
4 is not less than equal to 1, so(+(fibonacci 2) (fibonacci 3))
2 and 3 are not less than equal to 1 so(+(+(fibonacci 0) (fibonacci 1)) (+(fibonacci 1) (fibonacci 2)))
0 and 1 are less than equal to 1 so we're finally returning some values rather than more recursion:(+(+ 0 1 ) (+ 1(+(fibonacci 0) (fibonacci 1))))
Almost there:(+ 1(+ 1(+ 0 1)))
And you can see that this is going to return 3.
Recursion is really easy in Scheme! It's harder in Python, which doesn't support tail call optimisation. This function doesn't use tail-recursion either because its tail call is to + not to fibonacci but you guys need a vote count.
Mod notes:ZombieStrikes and Dell have another (expired on 2018-12-29 08:45:00) to confirm before I start looking for a replacement.

I mean I like to live dangerously and all but I feel that was too much and proving a point???? I’m past useful today but we should make sure there is a tomorrow et al.If it looks like a vote, it is. The automated vote counter doesn't care what is inside the unvote tag, but even if it did, I'd edit the post to help the vote counter understand it. For an example of something the automated vote counter doesn't understand:

Loop says there's a scum slip (apparently trying to give scum something to jump onto as explained in later post). The very next post...In post 14, Loopdan wrote:

VOTE: dicideaq
Clem jumps on.
The wagon never gets going on dicide. Amzela puts a second vote on Loop.
Clem finds a new wagon with more momentum. I haven't included it in my quotes, but he tried to encourage me to give D1 a very early end and hammer after Loop put himself at L-1.
VOTE: Clemency
FoS: Amzela. Awkward defense of dicide and almost like an OMGUS by proxy when she put the second vote on Loop (teach had already random voted loop).
Competing theories for me: Clemency scum or Amzela & dicide scumpair.EXTERMINAAATE~!-

But its far more likely to help town who may be in their first game. Like 75% more likely. In post 12, Loopdan wrote:I'd rather not give specific answers to this and help out scum who may be in their first game.-

LoopDan is town for this consistency, and the motivations I know to be underlying it. But really, self-voting? Seems janky. In post 43, Loopdan wrote:

No. Ive seen it end on page 1 and continue on page 10. Rough rule of thumb is (playernumber)*6 -- seems about rightIn post 53, Amzela wrote:Real question: Is there a way to tell when the game has moved out of RVS?-

The scummy part of dicideaq's post related to the questions, which are still pending for other players. So Dan doesnt want to talk about the reasooning, because he wants to get the same information from the other slots once they confirm or replace-in. Its a really pro-town thing to do.In post 53, Amzela wrote:If Loopdan is voting dicideaq seriously, this would mean Loopdan would explain their voting and what is obvious about dicideaq's scumslip, no?
If they're not (which it seems like so) how does this start happening?-

I think I have answered this in my other rash of posts, butIn post 58, EGL wrote:What do you think of the LoopDan situation?
Do you think dicideaq made a scumslip?
1. I really dislike the self-vote. I think it can be powerscum claiming a lack of defensiveness and knowing that the first D1 wagon normally falls apart, and that people have a subconscious block against coming back to a slot they have voted and moved away from. But.....
2. I do think dicideaq's answers were scummy, and I find LoopDan's position on the questions really pro-town. Enough to outweigh the self-vote, which could just be his contrarian personality response to my IC post saying it is normally a terrible play.-

Ive now completed my readthrough of the game. Oddly, Dan was playing differently than my suspicions. I do scumread Dicideaq's answers to the question ,and I thought Dan did too but didnt want to explain why until the other slots had posted. Instead, he *says* he was just trying to bait easy votes out of the experienced players. Interestingly, he says this in the midst of a 1v1 with an experienced player who did follow him.
The new story earns Dan less town points than I had been awarding. EGL is now my hardest town for the consistent desire for information and using the vote to pressure well.
@Clem what are your thoughts on Amzela?
Hopefully less of the demon rum today...-

A50 pointed this out to me the first time I played. I vote too heavily and too quickly. My lackluster defense is that I just don't want things to get too out of hand before people post. I know I'm playing to my own sensitivity, but I voted Loopdan because of the jump on Dicideaq, which I get looks super scummy now that he's come back and posted nakedly on Loop. I thought it wasn't fair to pick on a newbie, which is why I did pull an OMFGUS. My mistake. In post 113, EGL wrote:

Time to dig myself into an even deeper hole as I try to be blunt with my reasoning- Dicideaq's post is really... weird. But also is that a common newbie thing to do? I would imagine the draw to OMFGUS vote after coming back to several pages of banter.
@EGL can you explain Clem a bit more? From what I understand, you're getting scummy vibes from the willy-nilly wagon jumping?
@Teacher, is it kosher to vote yourself in RVS for shits and giggles or is that still really scummy?
(Okay back to work and CenturyLink plz turn back on)
