We don't know if it matters. Usually confirmation numbers are (number of players - number of scum + 1)/(number of players) to ensure that at least one scum has confirmed before the game starts (i.e. 10:3 is 11/13, 7:2 is 8/9). If that were the rule followed here, then it would make the game 10:2.

I mean... it is site meta

there isn't really a particular reason it needs to work that way. It's just a convenient number that makes sure that most people are ready to play while allowing for a certain fraction of people to lurk out without holding everyone else up.
