i was definitely intending to post more than just the one time yesterday, but i let things get away from me a bit and now it's been a whole day oops. there's probably a lot that needs addressing. i might address some of it i guess. we'll start here:
In post 528, the worst wrote: are you able to expand on what you're Vibing about umlaut's posts? (Assuming you're treating vibing as an explicit town indicator)
so one of the things that distracted me yesterday was that i'd been thinking about Umlaut's where he asked if anyone had looked at town draft picks in other iterations of the setup to compare to Hoopla's observations of scum draft picks, and i thought "that's a good point" and then i thought "eh, how long could it take".

Spoiler: NUMBERS
it took a little while. i don't know if i have exactly the same list of games Hoopla did; i went through the ones listed in the history section of this setup's wiki page, minus the one Hoopla mentioned where the mod didn't give scum pregame chat and these are my findings:

town picked:
1: 21 times (13.64% of total, compared to 19.05% of total scum)
2: 18 times (11.69% of total, compared to 7.14% of total scum)
3: 14 times (9.09% of total, compared to 9.52% of total scum)
4: 31 times (20.13% of total, compared to 7.14% of total scum)
5: 11 times (7.14% of total, compared to 9.52% of total scum)
6: 13 times (8.44% of total, compared to 9.52% of total scum)
7: 11 times (7.14% of total, compared to 2.38% of total scum)
8: 8 times (5.19% of total, compared to 4.76% of total scum)
9: 4 times (2.60% of total, compared to 2.38% of total scum)
10: 6 times (3.90% of total, compared to 4.76% of total scum)
11: 3 times (1.95% of total, compared to 2.38% of total scum)
12: 5 times (7.14% of total, compared to 2.38% of total scum)
13: 2 times (1.30% of total, compared to 2.38% of total scum)
15: 1 time (0.65% of total, compared to 2.38% of total scum)
16, 17, 19, 22, 30 & 9002: 1 time each (0.65% of total, compared to 0% of total scum)

scum also picked 18, 20, 22, 42 twice and 413, none of which were ever picked by town.

1 seems to be a significantly more likely scum pick, while 2 and 4 seem to be more likely town picks. any other pick is extremely null. mostly i think this supports Hoopla's plan to townblock the tripled up 4s in this game, though of course i would say that etc etc.

anyway, that's a huge tangent from the original question. Umlaut seems to be picking up on a lot of the same things i am, and he keeps posting extremely relatable content like this:

Spoiler: Umlaut posts
this game is well beyond what I consider the sweet spot of activity and I tend to react the same way Clover says he is reacting (by just mindlessly scrolling through and then realizing I haven't actually read anything) unless I actively force myself to slog through, which is hard to do for something that is ultimately supposed to be a recreational activity
More talking about herself than talking about other players which is what town should be more interested in doing.
I mean like I could make up some fresh hot takes to impress everyone with my original and unique perspective but overall I think it's probably better to just say what I actually think instead.
this last one in particular is, as i believe the kids are saying these days, A Mood.

Do you have a strong grasp of her non-mechanical playstyle? / Outside of non-manipulative data analysis how do you feel about her game related content?
i don't feel like i have a
strong
grasp on anyone's playstyle (even my own). but i have more of a grasp on Hoopla than most of the playerlist i guess.

i expect Hoopla to seem town regardless of alignment, but even bearing that in mind, i enjoyed and immensely and they also send good vibes out to me.
could you talk to me about how you feel about the cat? I'm literally in their pocket whether they want me to be or not
i really liked the observation about Ico in . especially following on from , feels like an organic progression from "Ico seems scummy but i don't know why" --> *looks for reasons* --> "aha! a contradiction!", where i'd expect scum to jump straight to the last step if they saw something contradictory they could push. that pushes them into my townreads.

That post is weird for another reason too actually. Umlaut says he likes me for town, but then clarifies he's eh on me but isn't "explicitly scumreading" me. Why does he clarify he's not scumreading me if he just said he liked me for town? Seems like a weird disconnect.
GC there is Green Crayons, didn't notice it was ambiguous until I saw this reply

can you talk about this a bit more? like, is he picking up on things that you agree on that are game-content-related, not just "relatable"? because the first quote is complaining about the game speed, and the last one is complaining about the "dullness" of it (or the ability to make things up for townpoints? anyway), which i don't exactly take to be AI?

Call me dense but I don't see how 536 rebuts Grumpy's point at all. I guess Icon is saying it's voting Gypyx again
because
of no new posts in the interim? It's possible but it just doesn't seem like a good reason to me. Not a lot of time has passed in this game at all so voting someone for "low activity" just because they're not constantly here spam posting is really a bad take.

540 I just don't think matters that much, of course it had
some
reason in mind for voting so demonstrating that doesn't make you town.
