i can see the setup spec maybe not helping that much. but i really cant see it hurting, and im a bit suspicious of those who are pushing back against it. this is info SCUM ALREADY HAS. lets level the playing field? for VTs it wont help much, but for PRs theyll know what other PRs are in the game, at the very least.

Let me see if I can follow along. With how this setup works, if you're good at maths and all, you can kinda mechanically guess what sort of PRs town could have based on how many points were spent for the Undead? I will admit I am unfamiliar with the setup or how any of it works, so already starting a step or so behind there. Is there any sort of benefit to theorizing that, or is it more just a good place to start early game conversations? I can't remember the last time I played an Open so forgive me, my logic is rusty on ideal play.

Firstly, I thought you would have some opinion about the parallel with Noir Mafia situation, and be willing to share it, as you had recognised it too. I had an expectation of what your opinion might be, but am more surprised you didn't share one. Although I appreciate the need for balanced meta, that doesn't preclude you reflecting on whether 2 situations/behaviours are comparable.

Secondly, I struggle to see what you're getting at with the probability thing. Isn't that the same with any 2 random players? And if you aren't reading much into the interaction, why even bother picking me and Taylor? Getting a slightly weird vibe here that you're starting with the presumption of at least 1 of us being scum, which wouldn't accord.

Yeah I guess what I am saying is that I am specifically trying not to meta just based off of that one data point just because it is particularly salient. But yes I am noticing the parallel that you are seeing. I am also slightly worried that you might attempt to use that parallel as scum to make town taylor look bad, if I'm being perfectly honest. Not saying that's how I'm reading it, but that's why I'm being careful.

And yes, it is true that it works for any two players but you two had a very pointed interaction, that's why it makes sense to start there. So I'm not currently getting much out of it, but I might if I look at some meta and I'm going to be watching how you two continue to interact in the early game going forward. It's not an assumption that one of you is scum, just a starting point.

these two posts are unbelievably rude considering we dont know each other at all. and that might be coloring my xofelf read. on the other hand, it seems like a really cheap reason to scumread someone and dismiss them without actually having to do any work to sort them, so this also genuinely pings me as scum.

then theres the readlist from xofelf. from xofelfs self meta, they are a tone/gutreader like me. and they often have strange reads and get scumread like me. consequently, id expect us to be very much on the same page. and i generally trust myself to be pretty accurate with confident townreads, even if my scumhunting leaves something to be desired. so the fact that xofelf hasnt sorted a lot of the people i have, and has sorted as town some of the people im still waiting to sort really pings me hard.

i think some people mistook this post as me stating a scumread on xofelf, since people have started referring to xofelf as x. i do scumread xofelf, but this post was a shitpost because isis said its fine to say "I scumread X player and am not going to say why due to the ongoing games rule," where 'X player' is a stand-in. The thing about Noraa is that people who have played with her knows she does this as town so it's hard to get a good scum read on her for it.

ive seen noraa enough as both alignments now to be able to sort her pretty confidently. this isnt her towngame. the reason it isnt quite her scumgame is that she knows i know her scumgame and she's trying to adjust. her scumreads are still people who question her, which is what scum!noraa does. and her readlist was pretty awful generally i think. my solve rn is BM and noraa, but noraa for sure.

This reads town to me, as I've experienced similar things.

Besides that, I still see barely anything AI in taylor's ISO. I can see some of the things in BM's case (ex. fluff and scumclaiming as a joke being slightly more likely to come from scum) but I just don't think it's enough for a real read. The buddying and stuff reads just like friendly interaction and I find that kind of stuff useful as town because you need to work with people to win. It also just makes the game more enjoyable. I'm mainly just seeing a player who is busy and frustrated about BM tunneling her and not contributing a ton to the game as a result.

I had a cult spotter in a previous game which was just this side of not VT, and that was actually fun cuz I at least had information to do something with. I kinda.. need direction and concrete something to work with or I don't exactly know where to go or where to really start, and too many options and variables makes for not fun for xoffies. I'm completely right on the Taylor-meta. she started the game as open-wolfing scum, playing deliberately anti-town in an open setup. Exactly like she did in her only other scum game, also in an open setup with me. It's the strongest meta read I've ever had I think. Taylor is smart enough to play to her wincon.

im also smart enough to be aware of my meta, especially obvious stuff like that. and its something i do as town at least as often as scum
