i seriously think not using the thread to manage these auctions in a transparent way could be a huge strategic mis-step. i'm not an expert in this stuff, but wouldn't we normally try and agree in the thread for the towniest player to get the powers or something, to avoid town wasting it's money/being at a constant bidding disadvantage? for instance, if I go all in for £1.2m on Vig, and don't get it, it means we know scum have the vig-shot. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong, but it's bugging me immensely. We should have held people to account for their bids publicly too, and tracked people's money centrally to identify the cash rich.

Let's say you go 1.2m on the vig and you get outbid by scum. They probably won't claim it and you made them spend a lot of money which is probably good.
If they don't outbid 1.2m tho now you don't have any money and scum have plenty which means that's 1 less townie they have to outbid in the late game.

I'm not sure of how to go about organizing that in a way that scum can't do anything with it and the only thing I can really think of is to just do what I'm doing.

maybe, i dunno, this requires big brain BM but he isn't here right now. but the whole bidding mechanic is why i think we should have been elimming people hard and fast to avoid increasing the scum advantage.
