And his death was for what? He did so much for his country, making sure the Russians could not manipulate precious American intelligence.
But it was for naught.

A timer counts down. Mere minutes to impact. Robert knew that he could not let his traitorous allies have the last laugh.

Philosophically I've always been on the side of "it's the responsibility of the observer to read correctly, rather than the job of the villager to perform."

But as far as mis-elims go, that was one of the more acceptable ones I've seen.
