the way I think about it is.

Town don't want to express paranoia on a "cleared" slot cuz in multiball if a "cleared" slot is actually scum, there's a good chance the other scum team just shoots the cleared slot so you don't have to worry about it.

Scum do want to express paranoia on cleared slots because they want to keep the PoE wide enough for their team to survive and not get elimmed.

Since there's a lot of debate here, just to be clear on my stance I'm not saying SS isn't almost for sure town by mechanics. I said earlier I don't think lie detector is a scum role in this setup. I just don't think anyone making any guesses on mechanics should be considered townslipping.

Have you actually read the content of the xof readslist? almost all of it is wishy-washy buddying and I don't see any reads that are based on actual motive-assignment, strategy etc. all of it seems to be some cute half buddying talk that sounds like it comes from a survivor game where xof is trying to buddy half the game while saying to the other half "you've been naughty" based not on anything they've done but on how xof feels about them.

I usually don't do full readslists in large games cuz I'm extremely lazy but I also feel it is counterproductive in a multiball game as it helps scum prioritize shot making decisions.

I don't say the above because I completely disagree, either. I find multiball frustrating as scum because it meant that me being widely townread was actually a hindrance, while the scum that lived longer seemed to be in everyone's scum pools. It's also frustrating as town to know there is less agency than normal, but I think this game was still reasonably winnable for town and there was a lot of agency there to eliminate the right people.

I have some thoughts on this.

1) The town didn't really deserve to win. 1 correct elimination / 5 incorrect eliminations is just pretty bad scumhunting. Town deserved to lose.

2) There were definitely opportunities for the game to turn in a different direction. For example on Day 5 when it was Raya vs Isis. If the town had chosen correctly there, they would've discovered the third scum group and been in a much better position going into that night. I still don't understand why anyone thought Isis was more scummy than Raya.

3) It's difficult for town to win without any cross-kills, but have you considered what the probability of not a single cross-kill happening in a game with 3 scum factions and 9 scum is? It's pretty damn low imo.

Now obviously there will be more cross-kills if the town keeps missing because just by definition if there's more scum alive the odds of cross-killing goes up - however it's still in the interests of town players to

actually hunt

for scum.

4) Focussing on the odds of winning is silly. Arguably the town has a much higher winning percentage than any one scum team. If the odds were 40% town win, 20% rat win, 20% dog win, 20% cat win, each scum player would have roughly half the odds of winning as any town player. Does that mean the scum should just give up and not try? Should the town as a whole not try because they only have 40% ev?

Mafia is played for fun. Not for EV% imo so it just doesn't make sense to look at it from a purely I want to win perspective.
