You can disagree that the noms are mediocre/impersonal. That's fine and normal for aesthetic discussions. But I really dislike the approach of dismissing legitimate reservations about noms either just because people have been discussing noms for a while, or just because the reservations are being misinterpreted as a call for perfection. You can't step in the same river twice.-

I don't want to get into a heated discussion about this but I feel like Jake has been making a good faith effort to contribute to Nancy's title's discussion.
I agree that his discussion around other titles was perhaps not the best but I feel like he is making a legitimate effort here and truly likes one of the titles so I think it's important to not mark that off as bad faith. Like people can disagree with his arguments but I legitimately believe that he's making a good faith effort here.Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.

Responding to this as all of the related posts to cut down on wasted space:In post 3815, Jake The Wolfie wrote:*with no better alternative
What you're missing here is that there is a better alternative that she deserves, because it better encapsulates her as a whole, instead of one very specific thing she does.
I’m not really missing the context. I’m aware that you think inno scent is the better title, and that may well be true but that doesn’t really change my stance.
Given:
A. The recent trend of offering multiple titles as options.
B. The potential for a person with a title to receive a new title.
C. The number of titles that have come based on other people seeing/workshopping suggestions.
The argument that a title shouldn’t be considered because it’s not good enough is a poor reason to shut down a title.
The argument you elaborated into: that inno scent encompasses a larger portion of Nancy’s personality, is a good argument to prefer that title.
For clarity’s sake, I don’t think any of the jake feedback on the Nancy title has been out of line and he’s definitely engaging in good faith here. If it came across that way that was unintentional. This is a Parachute.-

I agree with this by the way, my comments have not been towards Jake. Even more, I think that Jake always makes a good faith effort, or at least he has got better to express what he thinks a long time agoIn post 3832, Noraa wrote:I don't want to get into a heated discussion about this but I feel like Jake has been making a good faith effort to contribute to Nancy's title's discussion.

I'd need it explained to me.
Furthermore, I'm not really sure Citizen Cain has done anything remarkable notable that deserves a title, but I haven't really paid much attention to them.Show"I'm sorry that you put asbestos in your coffee."

On the other hand:
Nom Nero for Last Centurion.
I have reticence based on the fact that it is a Doctor Who reference and Nero doesn't particularly strike me as a Doctor Who person. However, I think the title fits despite the Doctor Who reference and it's not like the storytelling concept is unique to that storyline.
It's a nod to both sides of his username (Nero being a Roman emperor and Cain being the first murderer, cursed to wander the earth, protected from being murdered and functionally immortal in some popular mythologies (Cain implies he actually was a Roman Centurion at some point in the movie He Never Died, for example.). It also references his longevity and the fact that he's been pretty constant throughout ms's history while still remaining the same NC we've known for years. While others have come and gone, Nero has been here, playing mafia and watching the site change around him, a remnant of a forgotten age.
Also, it's less potentially insulting than While Rome Burned as it doesn't imply Nero was passive in the face of the collapse of MS.
Maybe#1 Centurion?<Embrace The Void>

I think #1 Centurion captures what was wanted in The Last Centurion without the implication that he has longevity in mafia games, which isn't always true
plus #1 feels like a good sticking point from your submission<Embrace The Void>

Nth Centurion for Nero CainNorwe is spontaneous, has a stream-of-consciouness posting style, usually posts on catch-ups by commenting on past pages posts, gets rather fired up in certain moments in games, is relatively as playful as me in games and likes casual shitposting

Nero does strike me as an powerful warrior from an older time. But still going at it in the fullest.
He also tends to have a bit of an brute streak to his personality, which fits the image of an older days military man.Last edited by NorwegianboyEE on Tue Aug 31, 2021 11:28 pm, edited 3 times in total.Norwe is spontaneous, has a stream-of-consciouness posting style, usually posts on catch-ups by commenting on past pages posts, gets rather fired up in certain moments in games, is relatively as playful as me in games and likes casual shitposting

Notably, I like that this gets away from the Dr. Who bit which was a good reason it didn't fit in the first place. This is a Parachute.-
