He seemed completely obsessed with the wagon on Andante. He was there when it started, he later said he'd go to bed and then he was still there every single moment and responded all the time and even hammered in the end.

As stated by both Shirou (374, 391) and Fire (425) here, the first wagon was expected to die down, and I shared the sentiment. I wasn't even there when the hammer fell although I often f5 threads for new stuff when something exciting is going on, but there was not much reason to expect it would become exciting. The only person who seemed fully excited about the whole thing was House.

He was so opposed to this wagon when it started, I think him trying to have a reasonable explanation for a U-turn on his opinion might have raised more eyebrows than just pretending to have done it for the lulz.

That itself isn't alignment indicative for him I don't think. My issue his very active engagement with the wagon the entire time. Like he knew there was something spicy going on, because he knew of Andante's alignment.
