Voting and Deadlines

1. 1. All votes and unvotes must be put in bold or with VOTE:   tags. Vote tags are highly prefered.
   2. Votes made in spoilers will not be counted.
   3. Abbreviations and nicknames in votes are acceptable, as long as I can clearly tell who you are referencing.
   4. When a player reaches a majority of votes, all votes are frozen and that player is eliminated/nominated. All players may continue to post up until the thread is locked.
   5. No eliminations are not permitted. You must eliminate a player each time the decision is presented.
   6. Day phases have 7 day deadlines. Night phases have 48 hour deadlines.
   7. If all living players agree to it via PM, I will end a night phase early.

Activity

1. 1. You are expected to make at least one game-relevant post every 36 hours. Players who go 36 hours without posting will be prodded.
   2. If you are prodded, you have 24 hours to post in-thread. Prod dodges do not count. If you do not respond within 24 hours, you will be replaced. Additionally, if you accumulate more than 3 prods, I may force replace you.

PRELUDE

The sun hangs motionless in a greyscale sky -- a bright beacon amidst a sea of faded colour.

For many, it is a beacon of hope. Its vibrant rays keep the glassy world of Hue and its inhabitants bathed in colourful, life-bringing light. For most of the world, it keeps their inner fire alive -- it preserves their reason to be.

To Cultist Lavender, it is a reminder that her work is yet incomplete. The Knights of Hue have fallen -- the colours of their domains fade away with each passing minute, and there is no one left to stop the Cult of Achromaticism from realizing their new vision of Hue.

"Knight Magenta! Come quickly, there have been terrible happenings at Rainbow Knight's hall," Cultist Lavender says, impatiently brushing away the purplish-pink remains of a slain glass guard underfoot.

That is, except for one.

"Is that the voice of a Knight I hear calling?" Knight Magenta rushes down the grand glass stairwell, coming to a stop at the bottom. He surveys the palace hall, quickly identifying enough rubble to constitute dozens of bodies. Out of the corner of his eye, he spots a figure shift from the edge of the wall.

Once the old order of Knights is absolved, all that will impede in the way of a still, quiet, and frozen Hue is the sun itself. A deity formed by a Rainbow Knight, a great traveller of the world, coming to the end of their journey. The sun is the glorious culmination of an infinite number of generations each reaching their climax. The sacred torch has been passed more times than can be counted.

A torch, soon to be extinguished by the aspirations of an elite few.

"Knight Lavender, is that you? Your colour, it's--," he begins, before his words are cut off by the blade of Lavender's dagger. He freezes in place, sword partially drawn in a delayed reaction.

Wasting no time, Cultist Lavender retracts her knife and delivers a blow to the center of Knight Magenta's torso, devastating the Knight's fragile body. Pieces of Magenta fly in every direction, coating the room with his colour. Lavender's steady expression breaks for a moment, as she allows herself a moment to bask in satisfaction at her twisted work.

"The Knights of Hue are all but a myth, now. I thank you, Magenta, for this is the world in which I have yearned so long for," she says to the shattered remains, before finally turning to leave. As she departs from the palace, she discovers a welcome sight: the land of Magenta has already begun to discolour. The once energetic hills of pink and purple fall away to reveal a dreary grey landscape.

Lavender hesitates within the doorway, now. Her face quickly morphs from satisfaction to a deadpan stare. She lifts her gaze to the sky.

The sun enters its final days.

DAY ONE

"Oh, love! You're still with us yet."

Lavender strolls through the hall of corpses, kicking glass underfoot as she walks. She kneels next to the half-fragmented Knight's body.

His once-smooth surfaces are broken apart by countless cracks and impurities, and yet, his form retains its shape. He's not broken to pieces -- not, like the others. Cultist Lavender cannot resist but drag her hands across the surface of the fallen Knight, fixing whatever broken pieces she stumbles her fingers through, and yet relishing in each imperfection that remains, all the same.

A shrouded figure, opaque and grey, approaches from behind, "My lady Lavender! We never got through to that one. Never broke through to his mind. There may very well still remain prismatic energy inside of him--"

Lavender flashes a fierce look backwards, and retorts, "Silence! Do not utter unkind words at the love of my life. I have taken great care to drain him of his scarlet hue, you see?" Cultist Lavender briefly removes her hand from the Knight of Crimson. All remnant of colour is faded away -- save for the dark red smear of blood persisting across his neck.

She looks back to the fallen knight, "You should be rebuilding your Lords, Rainbow and Beige."

"My.. my mistake. I shall resume," the figure responds timidly, before resuming efforts to search the illustrious Rainbow Hall for fragments of the ones who brought down the Knights for good.

More cultists begin to swarm the building, but Lavender gives them no notice.

"With no one left in our way, we can finally inhabit a new, grey, Hue. Together, this time."

Crimson's fingertip moves, causing Lavender to squeak in excitement. His eyes open, and his joints begin to move, making a crackling high-pitched noise. He is colourless, save for his irises and his neck wound. There is also a brief crimson-coloured flash of light, and, oddly enough, some other colours that also shine through.

The tip of Crimson Knight's finger twitches, causing Lavender to jump. His eyes slide open slowly, and his joints begin to shift around -- a high-pitched crackling of fragmented glass. As the knight stirs, some present believe they notice brief glimpses of colour hiding within the cracks of his skin and armour -- but soon enough, all traces of colour are gone. All colour from the knight has left him, save for the red in his irises and pouring from his wound.

Lavender pulls Crimson up from out of the pit of broken glass and into an embrace.

"It is so good.. to lay my eyes upon you once more.. Lavender."

His voice is gravelly and broken, and he sounds as if in a daze. Lavender pays little mind to this.

"I am yours to cherish for all of time to come."

DAY ONE BEGINS

"We'll depart for the rolling forests of Chartreuse once morning comes. In doing so, we will arrive just as the sun is beginning to set in just three days time."

Cultist Lavender stands before those elite few whom she has elected to accompany her on the next crucial task.

"How does it feel, Crimson? Free from the order, free from the old traditions and convention. We can give everyone this gift, you know."

Crimson looks back to her brightly, thinking on it momentarily.

"Well.. it is quite the unexpected pleasure to be fighting beside my brothers and sisters in arms once more."

Lavender laughs. As she turns from Crimson, her lips purse into a frown. The cultists within earshot perk up their ears.. and check to make sure their weapons are still at the ready.

Something's awry.

DAY ONE ENDS

"--lady, my lady, my--!"

A lone figure shrouded in loose robes bursts through the entrance to the illustrious Rainbow Hall in search of a familiar Knight of Hue turned cult leader. He spots her seated at the banquet table, beside Crimson, who holds a tattered and bloody cloth to one eye.

He drops to his knees unceremoniously before the two of them.

"Have you lost your wits? Up with you!" Lavender exclaims as she rises from her seat. Crimson does not respond.

"N-no, no!" he stammers, standing upright, "There is an issue, you see... the others. They're, ehm.. how do you say it-- witch-hunting?"

Bang!

The doors to the hall slam open once more. This time, however, seven cultists pour in, a prisoner dragged along in tow.

"Could one of you kindly expand upon the meaning of this? Was I perhaps not clear enough when I gave word to 'not come until morning'..?" Lavender manages to get out in her exasperation.

The group forces their captive before the two Achromatics. Crimson's attention appears to become fixated on something, at last.

He rises to his feet, "An execution, I presume? You needn't worry yourself with this, love," he says, brushing past Lavender.

The frenzied mob lets go of their suspect at last, eyeing Crimson as they back up slowly.

The red knight offers an outstretched arm to the cultist, shaking and sprawled out on the floor, "And what would your name be then, lad?"

Accepting the hand, the man slowly and carefully pulls himself up to his feet.

"It's 'Greeting', sir."

Crimson looks the cultist over. His garments are torn in multiple places, he favours one leg. The knight appears to become lost in his head once more.

"Greeting.." the Crimson Knight unsheathes his sword and, in a second swift motion, plunges it through the cultist's heart.

"May the Sun, in all of its vibrant colour and light, take pity on you."

The accused goes limp immediately. Crimson retracts his sword, and.. unexpectedly, lets the body fall. It shatters immediately into a hundred grey and jagged fragments, some of which slide and make contact with the remaining cultists' feet. The cults' hoods hide faces of shock and disbelief at the scene before them.

There's no colour.

Crimson, apparently unbothered by this, turns around and, upon spying his lady, smiles at her and retakes his seat.

The hunched-over figure in robes standing before Lavender does not budge an inch, save to help clear his throat.

"So is this how the newest Lady deals with her devotees," the crooked man starts, turning to leave, "You're no noblewoman — you're an assassin for hire. The others, they may view you as they might—"

"The others whom all, may I remind you, heralded the execution of one of their own upon absolutely zero basis—" Lavender begins, agitated.

The elder flashes cranes his neck to flash an angry glare and barks out, "An execution carried out by that outrageous

pet project

of yours. I am already quite knowledgeable on Greeting's murder, thank you."

Lavender, who had previously opened her mouth to speak, decides against it, keeping it open slightly.

"I suppose you still don't want to hear about the reason I came — Mad Hatters Tea Party is dead."

The convert cultist perks her eyes and ears up.

"We found them both upon sunrise. As he was clutching shattered bits of faer in his hands, and spitting out dust from the broken glass, it is reported he whispered a prayer of sanctification over the shards."

The man's tone shifts from angry to displeased.

"I hope for the both of our sakes he isn't simply getting warmed up. Or perhaps.. you would like to send the remnant with me, after all?"

Without a word, Lavender motions for him to leave.

"Oh, and also.."

Lavender tips her head in his direction as he exits.

"Put a leash on that tongue of yours, if you know what's good for you. Just how many more, do you think, are willing to sacrifice for

you

?"

DAY TWO BEGINS

Caw!

Off in the distant barren treeline, a murder of crows begins to stir. The once-luscious, pale green trees and vegetation of Chartreuse are but twigs now.

A lighter than expected party of cultists traverse the terrain. There is no sound to be heard anywhere, save for the crunching of wood and rot under their boots.

"The realm known for its ease at which it teems with life becomes the most desolate. How ironic."

"Actually, that's not irony. That's sarcasm."

Lavender raise a hand for the group to stop, pointing ahead to the flock.

She speaks, lowering her voice, "Have you lot forgotten? A number of outlying villages surrounding the late Chartreuse's kingdom are still holding out."

"A vain attempt by them, but one that requires our full focus to stamp out nevertheless. Do

not

let your guard down." Lavender says.

The hunting party continues on shortly after — more carefully, this time. In order to survive, each cultist present must decide which is more dangerous, the enemy hiding away from them, or the enemy hiding in plain sight?

DAY TWO ENDS

The sun threatens to finish hiding behind the horizon. Were it not for their hoods, looks of frustration and dismay would be on full display among the parties of cultists as they start to reunite.

"Perhaps.." an Achromatic huffs, "Perhaps the villagers have taken up and left, after all?"

"No. This is not likely. They were resolved to fight us until the end when we first arrived with the news of the late Knight Chartreuse. It's a puzzle."

"—one with an answer it doesn't take a genius to come up with," a third cultist leans in, voice hushed, "They must be receiving help from within the order."

Several suspicious looks are exchanged. The circle of cultists try to avoid dwelling on the topic for long, lest they let their guards down as they await the others.

. . .

The pitch-black forest rustles in the dark. The party readies their blades for whatever comes. As soon as the approachers enter sight range, blades are sheathed.

"You are quite behind on time." a forward scouting cultist says, bruised and battered figures starting to trickle in through the branches and trees, "Do tell, what has happened?"

One such silhouette comes near, hunched over and shambling.

"It was an ambush," she says, looking around, "Many were lost on either side. This one tall boy lurched out, as if from nowhere. I surely would have gotten stuck by him had Lavender not intercepted his jab."

Those spared from injury move in to assist the wounded party of assassins.

"I'm not sure what became of her. Saw a recruit, one I had been overseen the training of, skewered just a few metres away. Toogeloo, their name was. Hey, ouch—!"

The scout overtightens a wound's dressings, lost in a thought.

After a moment, he speaks up, "You were standing close to Lavender and a couple of others, correct? Who was Toogeloo near when the ambush happened?"

"I.. cannot say for sure. They were standing behind me. Well, except for Crimson — he was definitely holding the rear. Some of us conspired to ensure Toogeloo stayed in the back closest to him. We just wanted to keep all of our enemies together. Guess we were wrong."

The two members of the order go silent. Discerning who to trust within the coming days will be critical if they are to survive this mysterious plot.

The moderator PT is released -- and with that, I'll go ahead and reveal everything about the setup now !

Nobles -

Duchess Vigil (as played by Dwlee) and Baron Discipline (as played by mc esther) were the highest-ranked cultists in the group (as well as nobility) -- although they ensured their identities and skillsets were kept a tight secret from all but the most trustworthy. These two were the most capable of actively / mechanically making plays to influence the setup, and could discuss with each other on how to use their actions.

Discipline targets a player who is not Nobility in order to bodyguard them each night. If Discipline dies for a player this way, that player is added to the Noble PT and given a title ("Thorn"). They count as Nobility, but are not confirmed as town as the other two were.

Vigil, on night two, targets four players who are not Nobility and is given a random VT (Achromatic) on the list. If there are none or the ability is prevented in some way, Vigil gets No Result and may try again the next night.

In the Loop (other town PRs)

Shroud (as played by Mad Hatters) is the closest member of the cult to the nobles. Shroud knows the twos' identities as nobility (but nothing else about them). In addition, Shroud cannot be targetted by Noble actions (basically cannot be protected). And finally, Shroud has a weak active ability where they could redirect Nobility actions targeting them to someone else.

Murmur (as played by Galron) is more of an outcast but is a very, very good hider and listener. Murmur knows how many nobility there are alive (two) and is updated whenever this number changes. In addition, Murmur targets a player during the day in order to neighbourize them for just the following night. Murmur is told whether or not their target is Nobility as well.

Warden (as played by anahit) is not acquainted with the two nobles but sizes them up easily. Warden knows that the nobility are capable of investigation and protection. Warden's main ability is the box. I'm just going to copy and paste exactly how it works from the actual setup post in the mod PT. (tldr it's an invention that is passed around which sort of investigates and roleblocks at same time)

Spoiler:

- During the first day and any time the Warden has the box, Warden must target a player to pass them the box. At the beginning of the following night, they receive it. The box starts open.
- During night phases, a player holding the box may choose to close it or pass it to another player.
- If they do not close it and instead pass it, their non-factional actions are disabled on that night.
- If they do close it, the player who had the box last is informed that it was closed and then the box is sent back to original owner if they are alive. This also happens when the box is passed to a dead player.

Remnants (scum) -

Scum's nightkill was performed by an invisible third party -- and as such, it didn't take up any of their actions. Scum was not multitasking, however.

Scum knew that the regular power roles knew the nobles' identities, number, and power. As such, it was encouraged to hunt for these players -- but that's only the beginning.

Scum had three regular abilities -- rolecop, secret listen, and role interfere. They let you look at roles, look at informed statuses, and negatively affect town PRs. One could be used by a single Remnant per night, and all had to be used before you could use the same ones again.

Scum had two corrupted abilities -- vanillaize and truecop. These had no restrictions on use -- you could use them every night if you wished, granted you had enough remnants. However, if you target a vanilla townie, the ability is permanently destroyed and that VT is granted a new powerful role.

Finally, when scum died, get to use a free ability while dead before joining the dead PT. The later in the game they die, the better the ability is. (That is what scum knew). The ability was an investigation that got more precise and more useful utility-wise the longer the game went on.

giant shoutout to Jingle for being around to answer questions and talking with me in the moderator thread -- he didn't have to do that, but i really appreciated the help. also i think all of his contributions while we were designing were spot on and definitely helped reel in the setup.

Idk. I'm not pleased with this one so much. The setup worked itself out pretty much how i wanted it to which is satisfying, but the active mech was lacking and i dont think it was all that fun to *actually play*

The idea was that I wanted the intriguing part of the game to be the day phases where there are two VIPs who just aren't treated the way everyone else is. Like masons, but actually in a way I think could have been fun (I don't really like masons in of themselves because i dont think mafia have enough tools to counter them if they're just in really good players hands)

With regards to the town power I thought they all played really well actually

the regular PRs diverted scum well. they also used their knowledge to assist the masons without revealing them which I was surprised by (like the Dwlee wagon D1 for example and Flea)

The scum power was too confusing the way i implemented it. You would hate to see how it was when i first designed it hahaha. I wanted scum to have more than average chances of finding strong roles, except they still needed to use dayplay and couldn't randomly fire the abilities wherever they wanted and autosolve by d3. There were safe abilities for slowplay and there were risky ones if you wanted to decimate town quickly (but this would require a bigger day game i think)

however in my implementation of this idea as well as trying to communicate it i think it just ended up being confusing and disengaging to try and deal with

Vigil used their investigative prowess to catch scum (but not all)

Shroud diverted scum away from nobility (Dwlee was dead n1 if not for Mad Hatters IIRC?? Scum thought Dwlee was a mason on the first day because of the wagon) without revealing nobility

murmur and warden (galron/anahit) both took away scum's attention from masons as well especially with their dayplay

I dont know if this was a result of the setup but it was thematic and I enjoyed that part quite a bit!
