I don't get how Alisae claims to be interested in just solving in the most basic sense and disregarding the mechanics, and then later openly plays for money. MONEY FOR WHAT?

Alisae said it would be funny if they used all their money to send messages to other people. Shirou responds saying that would be funny if they (referring to the town) were in a better position. Shirou is pretending to be town.

So as preamble to the logic of why I'd never kill Pooky this game I want to give an overview of our PT, which reached 6 pages and was well into that sixth page when pooky died
  • the thread starts off with me doing my bog-standard opening of claiming scum, Pooky then claims scum back by saying he doesn't see me in the PT to which I retort "parallel universes"
  • I then poke Pooky a bit about having 34 posts already which prompt him to essentially say that's on the low end for him
  • Pooky asks about minigames and pulls the thread on my scum claim by asking for a buddy, which I snap-replied to with Shea
  • I ask Pooky about his Cakez opinion, he says he doesn't really have one and recalls I have read him well in the past (which I am considering dialing back) and asks me about my read there, which I respond to by saying I think cakez is scummy. Pooky says he's down at which point I fire the challenge off.
  • Me and Pooky both conclude T-bone is town from his reactions to the challenge (I liked his gutsy responses to me, Pooky figured T-bone would voted cakez immediately)
  • I post a readlist that basically goes "pooky and tbone town, shea+furtive+penguin+fenrir leantown, cakez and shirou scum, norwee and alisae leanscum". I also comment that it feels like we swapped places since in Hidden Temple 3, Pooky lolchallenged VP Baltar and Noraa, and I fielded numerous questionable SRs, meanwhile here I challenged cakez/tbone by like page 10 and Pooky was being shaded by Shirou, Alisae, and Norwee all together I think. I become more comfortable with Shea!town a couple posts down.
  • Around the time I called out the bolding thing Shirou did, I post that I think I've got him pinned down. I call Freedom stiff but hedge my bets by saying I've basically never seen him play except for a hidden alt game. Pooky responds by saying Freedom feels more fluid as mafia, effectively saying "the thing you're seeing from him is town-indicative". This topic kinda gets left by the wayside after.
  • I make a post saying I have a strat I feel breaks things in favor of town, Pooky says he thinks Alisae is desperately trying to de-escalate Shea in the matter of "why are you completely ignoring the mechanical ramifications of your suggestion" discussion. I comment about Ali's PoE lining up with mine and Pooky replies by saying he is unsure if Ali knows how unwise it is to bus in nightless (which based on hidden speezy my gut sense is e doesn't). I comment that I feel like Cakez's FoSes are semi-random. I also state that Norwee's comment at one point Ali being "more aggro as scum" rings like something Ali has said as self-meta before (in other words but w/e).

  • I theorycraft that Ali+Shirou might be T/T (with Pooky also being town) based on this game feeling a lot like Hidden Temple 3. I suggest not engaging Shirou's AtE, Pooky says it's too much fun, he also requests I say something that would probably get me in trouble if I actually did post it if he got voted out. I note that Shirou's weird wavy approach to Pooky does not go unseen.
  • I make 2 posts almost 24 hours apart both expressing that I've lost my hang on the game. Pooky says to just relax and have fun. I comment that I think Shirou and Norwee are joined at the hip in their scumminess, Pooky basically agrees. [Tactical Omission] I note I don't trust Haschel if most of the original scumpool I had ends up being town, since it felt like Hashcel arrived late to the party to kinda just echo thread consensus on matters. [Tactical Omission]
  • Pooky says furtive is rushing the vote by saying there's no reason to wait for a swap. I note that I kinda see the read but don't feel as strongly about what furtive is doing. I basically feed Pooky my list to submit for the event at the time.
  • we both essentially co-mald at people being scummy and the results of the first event. Pooky posts a solve of furt+shirou+cakez+penguin, I kinda go on a tangent that it essentially seems that the teams of Single Braincell and Johnson's have mindmelded on the Shirou-Norwee-Alisae scumpool. Pooky replies that we're either really on point or really off-base. (I think this is around the time furtive got swapped in) Pooky calls furtive and Alisae not SvS and I note that Alisae is bitching about the voting options after having opted to swap furtive in (to pause for a second, I think this is an
    absolutely abysmal look
when compounded with what T-bone and I have scrounged up in this thread, since it seems clear Alisae had just been BSing eir way across the game). We then have hammer and furtive flipping town.
  • I note that I'm townreading Shirou's turning against Alisae, since I felt like they'd been kinda allowing each other to exist in a blind spot prior. After a few posts Pooky says he has trouble seeing Shirou as town when he hasn't given many actual takes.
  • Around this point is when I start coming down with the sickness (I can keenly state this since Jan 24 was my first day working my new job and the very next day I started feeling unwell). This is also the time of the flag minigame.
  • I ask Pooky what his Shea read is, since around this time I started thinking "maybe Alisae is scum trying the same type of game as hidden speezy and Shea is the intended deepwolf". Pooky kinda trips into what I think scum were/are doing with the kills while discussing why Shea might not have been shot yet. Pooky notes he's been creeped out by Cakez for a while.
  • there's next to no activity between the second event ending and the third beginning. Once the third event begins I throw out the idea of killing through all the not-Pooky people who voted both furtive and Titus. Fire says we have to submit privately which causes me to compare the action handling to Rocky Horror Picture Show by drealmerz (a tl;dr: absolute dogshit game where the mod was a massive cunt, would never make anything clear, and insulted his entire playerbase after the game got called because he stopped running it). Most of the next several post are just coordinating the rest of the third event.
  • once we win we debate (in a very civil manner) who should swap and what team should be swapped out. There's a few more posts that are small potatoes and then Pooky gets shot.
Now, across this whole post, you wanna know what never happened? Me and Pooky never turned on each other. I'm pretty sure that has NEVER happened in a game before. In our earliest games I had constant paranoia of him after he dominated as scum a couple times. In HIdden Temple 3, I accused him of cheating in a casual chess match and I believe that put a pretty big damper on our hood. In this game, while I wasn't particularly aware that Pooky didn't trust me at the time this went down, he took me posting something that was meant as a kind gesture as gloating. And in the LOST large theme, we had a pretty substantial blow-up happen between us End-of-Day 2 because I felt uncomfortable with a joke he and Lukewarm made that I felt like was at marcistar's expense, and they both kinda proceeded to trample my feelings on the matter.

NOW, Given all of that history between me and Pooky, let me ask you this:

WHY DO I KILL POOKY WHEN I BASICALLY HAVE HIM IN THE PALM OF MY HAND?

The above goes double for Shea who if town, was probably just as solid of a kill without the particular history me and Pooky have.

OK this is a summary of your PT

Which isn't that interesting to me because I know that Pooky was town, so you would have been talking with them either way

And there were 4 mafia alive when Pooky died, so maybe someone else wanted Pooky dead

I do townread the effort though, which is maybe shallow reasoning.

Pooky died almost immediately after norwee got voted out
which btw tells me that scum were basically holstering until they could win or their first member got voted out
which now that I write that out, I can't believe I or anyone else legitimately thought Psyche could be a bus after that shot happened like it did

atp I think the winning strategy is to never vote out Gimli or Tbone, and we should hit another scum before another shot occurs so I think the worst that happens is like, a 3p endgame with one of them, me, and Shea

ftr the PT summary is meant to support the second part of the post by showing how in this game me and Pooky have been vibing quite well

I was entertaining a thought that Shea deliberately went after me after I blew basically all my money on the auction but the highest bidder updates the scum got were also every 24 hours and I only had a high enough bid that I couldn't swap back after the 400 was announced
