Upon the banishment of Zachrulez from the Castle, everyone decided to retreat to their rooms. Lit up at dusk, the Winter Garden became a gilded glass palace in its own as the Crystal Chadeliers twinkled in the lights.
As the guests retreated into their rooms, the planning began. The paranormal encounter at dawn had piqued the interest into ghost hunting within the Castle. The outcome the depuration process so far had given the guests a false sense of self confidence. Some had even started to believe they could all somehow make it through. So they all agreed to meet at the bottom of the Western Tower and search the halls with their motion cams, electric charge detectors and electro-magnetic meters.
The Castle incumbent had not let them visit the Tower much. They had overheard him say the mediums had still some work in the area before deeming it safe. The stories must be true then, you supposed. As soon as you all managed to break the padlock and open the Tower Door a stream of cold air started to flow into the hallway. Not that you thought this was some sign of ghostly presence; rather, that the Wind was flowing through the old walls. Besides, your detection tools did not pick up any change there.
You all proceeded towards the bedroom corridors, somewhat resenting not being allowed to stay over on this side; the rooms looked more rustic, but larger, and the windows overlooked the woods. The silence was broken by an unfamiliar voice.
"Hey, what's going on?"
You noticed your EMF meter readings were rising suddendly. The voice repeated.
"I said hey, what's going on?"
None of you knew where it was coming from. It seem to come from
everywhere
.
"HEEEEEEEEEY-EEEEEEEEEEEEY-EEEEEEEEEEY, WHAT'S GOING ON! OOOOOOOOOH!"
The screams were too loud. You thought your ear-drums were going to explode. You were excited, but second-guessed yourselves and decided to leave the Tower. Perhaps, it was foolish to have come here. You ran down the flights of stairs with all your might, only to find the Tower Door Closed. To top it, your flashlights has stopped working. You couldn't find a switch to light the room here. The darkness was terrifying. With all your strength, you all started to kick and hit the wooden door, on the hopes somebody would hear you. The experience had been fascinating, but you wished to live to tell it. And you knew that the darkness was the perfect moment for anyone to use in their advantage. You weren't as afraid of the dead as you were of the living.
And evidently, you were right. By the time the keeper opened the door, you realized some of the screams in the dark did not come from fear of the paranormal encounter. One of you was no longer among the living.
