Should I Upgrade To Windows 10

Never had to use an app ever, and going to control panel is super easy? right click the start button and then its right there?

I keep control panel as a shortcut in my taskbar on win8

Mine's pinned on 7, too. Along with the sound mixer, chrome, folder, and my DAW.

like, anything I use all the time or need on short notice (control panel / screenshot tool) now take me a single click to access, rather than at least 3 clicks + typing

My method requires 0 clicks and can get to any program or file in a second or two.

Your method requires typing, which probably almost always takes longer than clicking a pinned taskbar icon, no matter how fast you type.

Unless you're using a 21-screen monitor setup and you're up on the top row.

Right clicking the start menu button is literally the only way I know it operates in 8. Which is just so inanely backwards, that I have to now right click for a smaller and less functional version of what the left click used to do.

There was no start menu when I had it.

sometimes you only want a snapshot of a small fraction of your screen

I find the Snipping Tool to be quite useful for this.

It's right there in the Start Menu on my Windows 7 boxes.

Nah 8's awful. Who knows maybe 10 will be able to make the stuff they introduced in 8 work. Lord knows when I first saw vista I never thought windows 7 would actually come from that. I mean the only real difference between vista and 7 is that one is functional and usable and the other isn't.

That's been how they've operated forever though 95-98 ME-XP vista-7 and now likely 8-10. Not really news.

The mention of the old wolf 3d game in the game thread reminds me that windows 8 did a horrible job at running dosbox. All the old dos games I had on steam ran really slow. I hope that's not the case with windows 10, I would be really disappointed.
