Rules:

Participation

All players must post at least an average of once every 48 hours for each game day (unless day lasts less than 72 hours), and must not go longer than 72 hours (within a single game day) without posting. For the purposes of this rule, posts shorter than 25 words (beyond voting/unvoting and quotes) and consecutive posts do not count (shorter and/or consecutive posts are allowed, they just don't count toward the minimum), but the "clock" on the 72 hour rule will stop during Sundays (GMT). Anyone breaking this rule for any reason will be replaced ASAP.

If something unexpected comes up in the middle of the game, notify the moderator ASAP.

Post Content

Voting and Unvoting should be posted in bold at the bottom of the post. Unambiguous misspellings will be counted as if they were correct.

Only the following tags are allowed: Bold (for votes and unvotes), Italics and Underline (for emphasis), List, Quote, and URL.

Do not quote the moderator. If claiming information from you role PM, you are allowed to state your Role Name word-for-word, but you must paraphrase your Abilities. Alignment and Win Condition is given in the sample role PM for innocents; other alignments may quote these if they determine it is to their advantage to do so.

Questions should not be directed to the moderator in the thread. If you have any question about the game, ask it by PM. If it is something that everyone needs to be aware of, the mod will make a public announcement.

Timing

The game will start with day. Day will last a maximum of 2 weeks. If no one has received a majority of votes at the end of 2 weeks, the lynch will be determined by the Condorcet method (see voting below).

Night will last a minimum of 48 hours and a maximum of 72 hours. Choices not received before the deadline will be lost. Players are encouraged to send choices early, where possible.

In addition to the normal voting/unvoting procedure, players may include a preference list with their votes. For example:

The example list expresses a preference to lynch G first, then K if G is not an option, then L, then no one, then P (and then anyone else that is alive, with equal preference). Unless they explicitly state otherwise, it will be assumed that all players list themselves as the last option.

If, at the end of day, no one has reached a majority of votes, all posted lists and votes will be compared to determine a Condorcet winner. Each option (all players, and no lynch) is pair-wise compared with every other option to determine the group preference between just those two options.

If a single option beats every other option in these pairings, that option is the Condorcet winner, and is lynched. If there is no Condorcet winner (or if "no lynch" is the Condorcet winner), no one is lynched.

(If that's confusing... well, hopefully it will encourage you to reach a majority.)

General Rules

1. Have fun, and don't be a jerk.
2.

Read all the rules carefully and make sure you will be able to follow them. Unexpected things do come up, and in that case, let the moderator know as soon as possible so a replacement can be found, but if you just flake, expect to be barred from future mith games for a while.

3. No editing or deleting your posts.
4. No invisible text; no extraneous formatting tags.
5. When you're dead, you're dead. No posting in the game thread until the game is over, unless your role specifies otherwise. This includes "Bah!" posts.
6. No talking outside the thread, unless your role explicitly allows it.
7. No talking in the thread at night, even if the mod forgets to close it.

You stand in the library holding a glass of wine. The others are here as well, though oddly none of them appear to be in conversation. They are all, like you, standing silently, their eyes darting back and forth, around the room and back to the wine, always back to the wine.

Where am I?

The thought echoes in your head as the fuzziness begins to clear. You can't remember how you got here. Or where "here" is. You're not even sure of your own name...

One of the others throws his - or her? - glass to the floor. The glass shatters into tiny pieces, and drops of wine splash beautifully on the floor. The angry guest must think he has been drugged.

Have we?

Your glass drops from your shaking hand. Others reach the same conclusion, some losing their hold on the wine out of terror, others angrily smashing glasses against the floor and walls. The last glass breaks, and there is silence in the library once more.

You look at the others again, realizing now that they are all dressed the same - a long, androgynous robe, a name tag proudly displaying in some cases a seemingly random string of characters, and a black mask. Your hands rise, almost against your will, and confirm your fears - you, too, are wearing a mask.

At this moment, the door opens and a man enters the room. Unlike the rest of you, his robe and mask are grey in color. There is an unintelligible shout of outrage, but the man calmly raises a hand and speaks.

"Welcome, dear guests. I hope your arrival here has not inconvenienced you too greatly. You may be suffering some slight amnesia. This is an unfortunate necessity; don't worry, it will wear off soon. In the meantime, if you would help yourself to your choice of drink, we will begin shortly."

Spontaneous Combustion

After several minutes of mostly silence, the door opens again. You are surprised when, rather than your mysterious host reappearing, a beautiful woman walks into the room. She is carrying a tray with six identical open bottles of wine.

She approaches the nearest guest - which happens to be you - and before you can react she grabs one of the bottles and pours it into your empty glass. Unfortunately, your glass is still on the floor. You watch in a stunned fascination as the woman - or rather, the woman-shaped android - pours exactly 175mL of wine on the floor.

As she moves to the next guest, the others quickly grab the glasses conveniently lining a table, and hold them in front of them. You take one as well, and soon everyone has a full glass of wine.

Through the open door walks the man in grey. He, too, is holding a wine glass, and the android fills his glass as well. He looks around the room and raises his glass.

"Cheers."

He takes a sip of the wine. Seeing that there are no ill effects, you and the other guests feel safe drinking as well, if you so choose.

"I had hoped that you might take this time to get to know one another, but perhaps you are still disoriented. Never mind. I am confident that there will soon be plenty to discuss. Now, if you would follow me?"

You and the other guests are soon gathered in a small courtyard. The house - or mansion, perhaps - forms three sides of the courtyard, while the fourth is enclosed by a high fence. Through the fence you can see that the house is situated on a hill overlooking a city that you recognize as Fresno.

"Allow me to introduce myself properly - or rather, as properly as I can under the circumstances. You may call me Mr. Grey. This, of course, is a pseudonym. You will notice that you are all wearing name tags on which are written aliases as well. You may find it important to hide your true identity."

"I have brought you here to my home in Fresno because you are all in grave danger."

As he says the word

, there is a large explosion.

At least, it sounded large. Looking at it now, it appears that there was only one guest harmed. In fact, there is no damage to the lawn at all; it's almost as if the guest was the victim of spontaneous combustion.

"Now, you may be asking," Mr. Grey continues, as the guests look at the remains of... well, you... in horror, "would we have been in any danger if I hadn't brought you here? That is a good question, and one I will leave to the philosophers. Nevertheless, I hope I can impress upon you the seriousness of the situation - there are some among you who want you dead."

The guests look around at each other suspiciously. A few take large gulps of wine to calm their nerves.

"So, what to do, what to do. Before you there is a large white ash tree. I have tied a noose to it. I would suggest that you search out the evil souls among you and bring them to justice. You may very well save your own life - or at least you will have the satisfaction of going to your death with the satisfaction of knowing that you stood up to those who would harm you."

"And so, I leave you to it. Dinner will be served after sunset. I trust you will have come to a decision before then?"

And with that, Mr. Grey reenters the mansion, locking the door behind him.

The each turn and fire. LoudmouthLee takes out a window, and Cubsfan4ever manages to hit a small bird. One of the other guests says, "Well, that was anti-climactic." As the guns only contain one bullet each, the android retrieves them and retreats into the house.

Snap Crackle

The door to the mansion opens precisely at 7:06pm. The last rays of the setting sun shine through the leaves of the ash tree. Shadows move lazily across Mr. Grey as the wind blows.

"I see you have yet to reach a majority. As such, we will see if you have a group preference which is satisfactory."

On cue, the beautiful android appears through the open door.

"Scarlett, would you tell our guests who they have chosen to lynch?"

"COMPUTING."

Scarlett's eyelashes flutter rapidly for a moment before opening fully again.

"THE LYNCHEE IS..."

She stops mid-sentence. Her eyes, previously a lovely shade of green, have now gone blue - not just the irises, but the rest of the eyes as well. Mr. Grey frowns and walks up to the android, tapping it lightly on the head.

"Frozen. How... annoying. I suppose that's what I get for using Windows AE. Oh well. Fortunately, I have been keeping count myself, and the group's preference is to lynch Cubsfan4ever."

Except for the guest wearing the "Cubsfan4ever" nametag, no one seems shocked by this result, and some of the guests gather around Cubsfan4ever to lead him to the tree - or drag him, if necessary.

The guests stand around the tree watching Cubsfan4ever, who is standing on a small stand, his head in a noose.

"What do you want from me? I already told you who I am. Do you expect me to beg?"

Mr. Grey steps forward. "No, Cubsfan4ever, I expect you to die."

And so, Mr. Grey kicks the stand from under his feet, and Cubsfan4ever dies with a sickening snap of the neck. After the body has stopped twitching, the guests cut him down, and Mr. Grey removes his mask, revealing...

Morning Mood

At exactly 5:46am, the silence filling the mansion is replaced by the beautiful opening notes of Grieg's

. The music starts at a whisper, gradually building over several minutes until the volume is loud enough to wake all the guests.

That is, all the guests except for one.

The sleepy guests mindlessly follow lights on the floors of their rooms, which lead them to their respective showers. The warm water is relaxing, and the stress of the previous day washes away. Feeling refreshed and clean - even under their masks, which they are able to loosen a bit during shower time - the guests make their way to the courtyard.

Waiting for them is another woman - or, more probably, another android. She looks quite similar to Scarlett, but is wearing a purple dress.

"Let me guess," someone jokes, "this one is named 'Plum'?"

From behind the guests, a voice replies, "Don't be silly. What sort of name is 'Plum'? She's called Violet, of course." The guests turn to see Mr. Grey standing in the doorway. "Violet, would you bring our guests tea and coffee, to have as they wish?"

Violet nods and walks into the mansion, returning a few moments later with a tray. Mr. Grey continues, "Now then, if you weren't so busy making bad jokes this morning, you might notice that one of you is missing. Most tragic, most unfortunate. I regret that I must do this, but perhaps seeing his body will further impress upon you the grave situation you are in."

Violet re-enters the mansion and again returns pushing something - though this time it is not a tray. Instead, she is pushing a coffin on wheels. Peering into the open casket, the guests see a man apparently peacefully sleeping. It seems Mr. Grey has hired someone to work on the corpse to make him presentable. His arms are folded across his chest, and above them sits a nametag with one name crossed out and another written below it.

No one immediately recognizes the face, but Mr. Grey reveals his identity before leaving the guests to choose their next lynch...

Conversation among the guests is just picking up when suddenly one of them lets out a gasp. The other guests watch helplessly as "xyzzy" clutches at her - for this guest is a woman, as they will soon discover - chest and collapses.

Violet rejoins them in the courtyard and walks up to xyzzy. She coldly reaches down and checks xyzzy's pulse. She shakes her head.

"Dead? Another one? Oh dear," Mr. Grey says, speaking what many of the guests are thinking to themselves. "Let's see who this one is, then. Violet, if you would remove the mask?"

Mysterious Reappearance

"COMPUTING."

Violet's eyelashes flutter much like Scarlett's the previous day. The guests look on, curious to see whether she will crash like her predecessor.

"THE LYNCHEE IS..."

She stops mid-sentence. Mr. Grey seems unconcerned however, and a moment later there is a weird sound coming from her mouth. The guest soon discover that this is the sound of a printer, as a thin strip of paper comes out of her open mouth. Mr. Grey takes it and reads:

"Mgm. Thank you Violet, go check on dinner, please."

Gong Show

The guests are sleeping soundly at 9:43am when there is a loud clanging sound which fills the house. Some of the guests jump up in bed immediately, startled by the noise, and hurry out of their rooms unwashed. They come upon Mr. Grey standing in the hall, poised to strike a gong again.

Mr. Grey does a quick count of the guests that have appeared, and with the count coming up short, he hits the gong again. The guests around him get their hands up a moment too late, and cringe at the ringing the gong causes in their ears.

A few more guests appear - the heavier sleepers - and this brings the count up to fourteen. Mr. Grey hits the gong one last time, and when no one new arrives, he nods.

"I apologize for the rude awakening. Violet went a bit buggy and forgot to set the alarms. Technology... what a pain. I've sent her off to Androids 'R Us for repairs. Jade will be assisting us today."

He holds a hand out, motioning toward one of the doors, as another android enters the room. Some of the guests roll their eyes beneath their masks, but say nothing.

"Now then. Down to business. I count fourteen, which means two more have failed to survive the night. Shall we see who they were? Follow me, everyone."

Mr. Grey leads the group to the bedrooms of the two fallen guests. After, the remaining fourteen gather in the courtyard to discuss the next lynch.

Explosive Exit

The sun is still well above the horizon when LoudmouthLee abruptly laughs and exclaims:

"I can't believe I'm going down for

this

! Whatever. Go on then, lynch me, I'm a mean evil nasty killer and I deserve it."

Mr. Grey and Jade enter the courtyard. Jade reveals the count, making the lynch official, and the guests lead LoudmouthLee to the tree. Minutes later, LoudmouthLee is standing with a noose around his neck, and Mr. Grey speaks:

"Any last words?"

"Words? No. But..."

A device drops from LoudmouthLee's left sleeve into his bound hands, and before anyone can react he presses a button and there is an earth-shaking explosion from somewhere just outside the mansion. The vibration is violent enough to knock LoudmouthLee off balance - the stand falls over and the murderer is left swinging as the guests look around, wondering what has happened.

Mr. Grey exchanges a few whispered words with Jade, and then addresses the guests.

"It appears that Mr. Wesson discovered a secret passage from his room to the servant's quarters. I'm unsure what - or who - he was hiding, but it will take us days to sort through the mess. I suggest you return to your rooms for the evening."

The remaining guests gather with Mr. Grey around the casket of "VitaminR". The guests observe a moment of silence, but then appear ready to get on with the task of lynching someone else, fresh off yesterday's success. However, Mr. Grey has something else in mind.

"If I may have your attention, I have a video to play for you. It was found in VitaminR's room."

The latest android - Blanca - enters the courtyard with a tray holding a TV. She plugs in a cable from a small video camera, and presses a button to start the video playing. VitaminR's masked head appears on the screen.

"Hello. If you are watching this, I am probably dead. I am being held captive in a large mansion. At least, I think I am being held captive. We are being treated well enough, but several people have mysteriously died, and the guests are taking matters into their own hands. Within a few days, there may not be any of us left. I don't know why I am here, but having found a video recorder in my room... well, you know, in case something happens to me, maybe this will make it to the people I care about."

The guests are in the courtyard arguing, the sun setting behind them. Trying to come to a decision before night falls, they are distracted by a sound in the house. One of the guests runs over to the door of the courtyard. A hand is placed on the door knob, but the guest stops, remembering that the door is likely to be locked. Halfheartedly turning the knob just in case, the guest is surprised to find the door open.

The guests file into the large, empty hall, looking around to see what the sound might have been. The house is quiet, however. One guest calls out, but there is no answer. Ready to give up, the guests turn back to the courtyard, but just as the last of them is stepping through the door, the sound echoes through the house again. With the door open, this time the source of the sound is obvious - it is the doorbell.

Seeing that Mr. Grey and his pet android are nowhere to be found, the guests decide to answer the door themselves. Unfazed by their ridiculous appearance, they pull open the door and are surprised to find that the visitors are small children, and more surprised to note that the children are wearing what appear to be very convincing costumes. One is holding a pumpkin.

"Trick-or-treaters? But it's not Halloween. It's May!"

One of the guests addresses the children directly.

"I'm sorry, children, but we don't have any candy. This isn't even our house. And it's not even Halloween. I know, I know, we're wearing ridiculous masks too, but... well, it's too difficult to explain. Terribly sorry. Now run along to your parents."

The door slams in the face of the children. The look at one another, and shrug. One makes a sound, which can not be written down in the words of man but if one were to try it would look something like this:

"URRKRREEEEEEEEEEEEEESHRKRSHEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"

The guests are already back in the courtyard, and do not hear the sound this time, but Blanca - who is dusting while jamming to some music on her iPod - happens to be near the front door. The android removes her earbuds and opens the door.

One of the "children" is pointing the business end of the pumpkin at her. There is a flash, and Blanca is no more.

Very Secret

Dear Diary,

It's me again. Mr. Grey.

I have a problem, diary. Well, two problems. The obvious one is that I am talking to my diary as if it is a sentient being. But the other problem is that I am out of ideas. Here I am in this giant house with these carefully selected and invited guests, having a grand time what with all the intrigue and mysteriousness - and, yes, the blood and guts and horrific murders - but I am feeling terribly uncreative today.

Saffron is completely useless, of course. Androids don't do creative. I've introduced her to the guests this morning, as usual, but it just doesn't have that oomph that it normally does. Maybe the "new android every day" gimmick is wearing thin.

It's the body, though. I just can't think of any clever way to introduce the body. We got lucky last time, what with the victim being a youtube fetishist, but this poor girl doesn't have anything like that to offer.

I just went over to look at her, now, to see if something would come to me in a flash of inspiration. She just lay there with her eyes wide open. She's mocking me, I'm sure of it. I probably deserve it, letting her die like that, though.

Something isn't right. I can feel it. It's as if whoever is pulling the strings here - besides me, I mean - has something else on his mind. If I concentrate hard enough, I almost feel as though I can hear his thoughts. "Word count..." he says. Over and over, as if it is a mantra.

In fact, I can't help but feel as if even my actions here, writing my very secret thoughts in my very secret diary are a part of his grand scheme of "Word count", whatever that is.

Oh well. I guess I should go and tell the guests about the latest victim. Maybe today they'll do something about it. Thanks for listening.

As Tamuz finishes his thoughts, he looks up at the sun, rising above the courtyard wall.

He breaks off, sobbing. One of the guests puts a comforting hand on his shoulder. He angrily pushes it away.

"You don't understand!"

"I do, believe it or not. You loved her. And now she's dead. And gone. But she'll live on in your heart."

"It's not

. It's just that we never even got to..."

He trails off as his eyes go wide and he clutches at his chest. He collapses.

Later, Mr. Grey declares that he has died of a heart attack, but the guests know the truth - he died of a broken heart. And possibly of not getting laid.

Possibly the poison he took when he saw Valentine's dead body helped too.

Musical Interlude

Discussion between the guests is active throughout the day, only concluding with Saffron's appearance at sunset. Some guests, still somewhat confused over how the lynches are decided, wait anxiously to see whether they group has been successful in selecting someone to die.

"COMPUTING."

Saffron's eyelashes don't flutter like her predecessors. Instead, her head spins around several times in an anatomically impossible way.

"THE LYNCHEE IS... PookyTheMagicalBear."

The guests nod, and those most adamant about this choice surround their cuddly victim and ready the noose. Throughout their preparations, PookyTheMagicalBear is silent. Soon enough, the lynchee is standing on the platform, all noosed up and ready to go. The guests are ready to kick the platform away when there is a shout.

"Wait!"

The doors burst open, crashing against the walls, and the guests are somewhat surprised to see Mr. Grey appear - not so much because of his appearance itself, as he seems to always show up, but because he is slowing them down.

He ignores the other guests entirely and looks straight at the victim.

"You don't have anything to say?"

PookyTheMagicalBear remains quiet, accepting death bravely.

"Nothing?

Frustrated by the continued silence, Mr. Grey pulls out a gun, points it directly at Saffron's head, and blows her electronic brains out.

One of the guests whispers:

"I feel like he is trying to tell us something. But I don't know what."

Mr. Grey shouts in annoyance, and walks back in the house, muttering about "writer's block" and "creativity" and "characters not cooperating". The guests get on with the business at hand. The platform is shoved aside, and PookyTheMagicalBear is left dangling in the wind - but with a dying breath manages to gasp out at the other guests:

"Could've... Been... You..."

The guests are once again gathered in the courtyard. They can see that foolinc is missing, and await his arrival - whether he is alive or Mr. Grey wheels out his body for them to see.

It turns out to be the latter. Mr. Grey and yet another android escort the corpse to the courtyard. One of the guests, however, doesn't seem interested in the identity of the body.

"What's her name, then?"

"What?"

"The android, there? She got a name?"

"No. Why do you ask?"

"Well, all the others, they had color names, yeah? I was just wondering what hers was. Since you seemed to be running out of good color names."

"It's not so much that I have run out of names, as that..."

He trails off.

"Well?"

"Well what?"

"It's not so much you've run out as what?"

"Oh. I just haven't named her yet."

"Probably because you haven't thought of a good name yet."

Mr. Grey sighs.

"Fine, fine, yes. I can't think of anything. I don't suppose you have any suggestions?"

"You could call her Coral."

"Too old fashioned. Besides, we've already had a Scarlett, it's too close."

"Beryl?"

"That's even more old fashioned, and even closer to Jade."

"Goldielocks?"

"Her hair isn't even gold. It's black."

"Orange?"

"Ok, now you're just being silly."

One of the other guests chimes in.

"What about Keira?"

"What about it?"

"It's a color name."

"Is it?"

"Means dark or black. In Gaelic."

"Hm. Keira... I like it. Ok then."

Mr. Grey turns to the android.

"Your name is Keira."

Nasty Hangover

The sun is still well above the horizon when the guests reach a decision, the number needed for a majority reduced by the unexpected display of violence earlier in the day.

As they drag Silent Lee to the lynching tree, he bursts into tears.

"Alright! Alright! I admit it! I'm one of them! I didn't mean to cause any harm. I was drunk! It was all their idea!"

The guests hesitate, perhaps thinking to question Silent Lee, convincing him to strike a plea bargain to lessen his "sentence" and rat out any remaining partners. They don't have time for this, however. An eerie disembodied voice appears, growing louder as it approaches from the house.

"Sinner! You will pay for your sins! Drunk? He deserves to be cast into hell; so that divine justice never stands in the way, it makes no objection against God's using his power at any moment to destroy them. Yea, on the contrary, justice calls aloud for an infinite punishment of their sins..."

The guests look around for the source of the voice, but nothing is there to be seen. The noose is placed around Silent Lee's neck by an invisible hand, and before the guests can do anything to prevent it he is dangling in the wind.

Mr. Grey runs out, wearing something on his back and holding something that looks like a gun or a hose. He aims it in the general direction of the ranting voice and presses something, firing a bright stream. There is a scream and the voice trails off, being sucked into the machine.

Mr. Grey sighs, taking the contraption off and handing it to Keira.

"Sorry about that. Somebody... I won't name any names... is having some sort of malfunction with her software and let the ghosts loose. I've been chasing them around all afternoon. I hope I got them all. Anyway, let's see who you've gotten rid of this time..."

With both M. de Villefort and his daughter dead, along with their family doctor, Doctor d'Avrigny, the current investigations are focused on the Villefort household. While the crimes remain unsolved, the number of missing citizens is dwindling, and with no additional disappearances the police are confident that this bizarre string of murders will soon be at an end." - M. Day Off

And so it was that on the seventh day, Mr. Grey looked at the remaining guests gathering in the courtyard to again scream and yell and demand each other's heads. And it was good.

And so, Mr. Grey rested.

He did not name a new android. The new android drifted about aimlessly, having no sense of purpose because of her lack of name. She didn't even know what color clothes to wear. After several hours of indecision, her default programming kicked in and selected something in a nice taupe - which, as everyone knows, is the average color of the French mole.

He did not greet his guests in a flamboyant manner. He did not entertain. He did not juggle, nor swallow the flaming sword.

He even resisted making some sort of bad "Show me the money!" reference. Which is a good thing, as it was later pointed out that the previous night's victim was not

"Eep."

He backs away, but it is an enclosed courtyard and there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

It is over quickly. IH's broken body lies on the ground as Talitha stands over him, glowing with the joy of the kill...

Decisions Decisions

The arguing carries on late into the afternoon. Dragon Phoenix and Talitha seem set on lynching each other, though Gaspar remains fearful that they may turn on him before the day is over. With the sun descending steadily toward the horizon, they finally vote for each other and put the choice in Gaspar's hands.

He weighs his options carefully before finally coming to a decision...

"Dragon Phoenix... I choose you!"

Dragon Phoenix sighs.

"If I have to die, I have to die. But could you at least avoid bad Pokémon references? Kthx."

Afternoon Delight

Meanwhile...

A boy sits in Mr. Grey's library. He isn't sure how he got here. He was following his sister through some coats, and somehow ended up surrounded by books. They aren't even interesting books. He can't understand a word of some of them.

He can't find a way out of the room, and boredom is setting in - sure to make him grumpy. Unexpectedly, one of the bookcases opens into the room. Through the previously hidden door, two figures walk in. One is a woman dressed all in white, and the other is a rathre goofy looking man dressed in purple. The boy immediately demands an explanation of his whereabouts.

"Patience, my dear boy. All in due time. Perhaps you would like some of this delightful candy?"

The boy looks at it suspiciously.

"What is it?"

The woman opens the box to reveal large pieces of turkish delight.

"Turkish delight! My favorite!"

He reaches out to grab a piece. The man in purple half-heartedly mutters:

"Stop. Don't."

It's too late, as the boy has alreaady stuffed a piece into his mouth and chomps on it greedily while reaching for another.

Several hours later, as the sun is setting outside, the poor boy is still eating. No matter how much he eats, there is always more in the box. The man and woman have long since left, but even though the boy is now sick of the stuff he can't make himself quit eating.

He is soon the size of a beached whale, and has to be rolled off by a clan of tiny, funnily colored, singing men.

Earlier that day...

Setael waits anxiously for Talitha to make a decision. Finally, Talitha decides to buy the product. Setael takes the money and hands over the stuff.

Setael excitedly takes out the rest of the money, obtained on previous nights. Ignoring the other guests, Setael mutters:

"Finally! I have enough! ...although, I'm not really sure how money is supposed to help me get out of here..."

Setael spots a machine, unnoticed previously by any of the guests, embedded in the wall of the courtyard. While the other guests discuss what to do with Talitha's new-found strength, Setael sneaks over to it. The screen reads:

"WELCOME TO MR. GREY'S SECRET ESCAPE ROUTE. PLEASE INSERT THREE SHINY GOLD COINS IN THE APPROPRIATE SLOT."

"Well, that's convenient. I happen to have exactly three shiny gold coins!"

The coins are inserted and there is a whooshing noise as the wall parts. Setael runs out, to freedom...

Talitha shuffles out of the room and to the courtyard.

"It must have been Setael. Though where she went to, I don't know. I tried to kill her last night, but I couldn't find her."

"Well, I guess that's good. She can't hurt us if she's not here. I guess we're safe, then..."

She trails off.

"Wait. What did you say? You tried to..."

"Kill her."

"Oh."

"So I guess I'll have to settle for killing you instead."

Mystery Host

Count de Morcerf, Gérard de Villefort, and Gaspard Caderousse creep down the dark halls of the mansion. Morcerf has just rejoined the other two after murdering "VitaminR". Though the layout of the house is a bit of a mystery, they eventually manage to find Mr. Grey's bedroom. Villefort throws open the double doors, and the other two march in behind him. Mr. Grey sits up, startled, looking at the still-masked guests.

"Gaspar? Zindaras? MrBuddyLee? What are you three doing here? Go back to bed. The halls may not be safe."

"Not for anyone else, no."

"What do you want?"

"We know who you are... Mr. Grey. Or should I call you Monsieur Dantès?"

Mr. Grey flinches. "What did you call me?"

"It all makes sense. Who else would bring us to this strange place and time? We only wanted you out of our lives, Edmond. Why couldn't you just stay dead?"

Morcerf points his pistol at Edmond Dantès' chest. Edmond slowly removes the mask, revealing his prison-worn face - a face that hardly resembles the young man the three knew so many years ago.

"God has decided that I shall no longer be his angel of vengeance. But He is just, and he will not let you escape unpunished for your crimes."

A shot rings out, and the eyes of Edmond Dantès go wide with surprise at the reality of his mortality. His mouth opens to let out a cry, but as he falls over dead all that escapes is his last breath.

"How tragic. Now, you should return to your rooms."

The three spin around in surprise at the deep voice behind them. They are even more surprised to see that the voice belongs to... Mr. Grey.

"But... you... we just..."

"You killed Dantès. Mr. Grey lives. Dantès was merely another guest."

By reflex, Morcerf reloads his pistol and pulls the trigger. Nothing happens.

"You cannot kill me. Now go."

"What? Why not?"

"I seem to have misplaced my plot device. Always losing it, rather annoying. Anyway. You're free to go wherever you like. California is a nice place. I'll give you some money for your trouble."

"That's awfully sweet of you."

"What can I say? I'm a sweet guy. Until next time..."

Mr. Grey leaves Gaspar alone in the courtyard.
