Is that all? I wouldn't say that throwing around random reads without explanation is anything like taking a strong position. It is easy to distance yourself from your early-D1 reads:

"It was just a hunch."
"We have more information now."
"I was just checking how people would respond."

The mayor had a brilliant plan. The Police Force would enforce a curfew on the citizens. Troubled times called for troubling measures. ANyone caught out after curfew would be arrested.

well, due to a clerical error the curfew was put into effect by not announced to the public until 30 minutes before its implementation. The shocked townsfolk were effectively traped in the rec center that doubled as a meeting hall. What would they do? Now the police would get you before the monsters they all heard rumors of.

'Lets send one out!'

One brave soul cried from the safety of the back rows. The murmers that spread throughout the crowd agreed. One soul would be sent out to ask the police for leave.

Drawing lots, Phantomcolbalt drew the short lot.

'Hey guys, c'mon'. I have band practice tomorrow, I cant go getting arrested!'

He pleaded to the deaf ears. And why should they listen? They all had things to do tomorrow; some had to work, some had to drink, some had to watch the kids. Why was he special.
Shoving him out the door, the townsfolk locked behind him. Walking slowly in the dusky sunlight, he wished he had been able to grab his windbreaker before being sent out here. Where were the police, anyway? For having a curfew there sure weren't any out to talk with . . .

And speaking of muster, weren't there fewer empty beds last night? The town's tech-store operator is missing.
