I allowed Gamma to come back because I saw no harm in it. If something comes up IRL and you think you won't be able to play at all, then replacing out of your hydra is fine.
I wouldn't ban someone coming back to their hydra unless they kept leaving and returning repeatedly.

The crew now knew that the monsters were capable of replication due to the events of the previous night. Through a system of quarantining and eliminations, they were able to deduce that Garry was the only one who could have had the opportunity to kill Fuchs during the mad rush outside. He screamed as they dragged him outside to be incinerated. Carter walked up to the man and asked him if he had any last words. Garry went silent for a moment, then opened his mouth far wider then he should have been able to and let out an inhuman roar. A quick blast from the flamethrower of MacReady brought an end to the thing. As his body burned, Peder slipped inside to grab Garry's revolver, knowing it would be of importance in the dark night to come. The slightly smaller crew retreated inside, grimly preparing for another night of paranoia and potentially, death.

Even worse, in the rush to reach the shooting, Derek had vanished. His jacket was found lying on the ground, smeared in blood. When it was taken to the lab, Blair's analysis revealed the blood already mutating into...something else. It was quickly incinerated to prevent any further harm. The lab now crowded with crew members attempting to devise some method to figure out who was human and who was not.
