Day 1

All of a sudden, the megaphone tower sprang to life and brief static filled the air, before
the mayor's cheery voice crackled through it.

MiniDeathStar:
Hello loves! How're you doing?

Brief confusion ensued before the burly, bearded town shepherd bellowed back a response.

Cooperative Sheep:
We're fine. Some lynchin' goin' on 'ere.
MiniDeathStar:
Good! Keep lynching. Remember, I'm watching you.

The static died down, but her words echoed in their minds and everyone suddenly became
painfully aware of the red eyes of the cameras that peppered the entire town square. She
was watching all right. And they weren't sure if that made them feel safer or creeped out.

Baaaaa

Vote: Intermission

I could also lynch Sesq (for coming across stilted to me, which, to stave off the inevitable question - is also how Intermission feels.)

I like Siblings and Jester for town.

You feel fake and I don't think any of your questions advanced the purpose of finding scum beyond the very general 'at least people are talking' thing, but...we could start a discussion about the Superbowl and it would get people talking - wouldn't help us find scum or town though. Felt like empty busywork in a 'lookit me, I'm working' sort of way.

Does that clarify why I put you at L-2 for you?

I see your point. This is how I usually started games in the past, and to my memory it was never interpreted as a scummy thing for a player to do, regardless of their alignment. Maybe game openings have changed somewhat in the past 6-7 years, I dunno.

But yeah, I can see why you'd think of it as busy work, and I imagine most of my votes are for similar reasons. All I can really ask for is mercy. There's still plenty of time left in Day One, so I'd appreciate a little more time to contribute.

UNVOTE:

Taking some pressure off. In general I think I liked Intermission's reactions. Heading out to work for most of the day. I'll come back and share what more thoughts I can.

Cooperative Sheep, is there anything in particular about Siblings Quarrel and The_Jester that strike you as town reads?

Jester basically asked a couple of questions that seemed actually likely to get real conversation going (probing at the RQS and the RNG).

Sesq - I'd advocate you go look at his current iso and just ask yourself what real info he's offered about himself thus far, and what actual opinion about anything game relevant he's made (my opinion would be zip and zilch for both). The play feels fake and guarded, and not like he wants to solve anything.

For Jester see above.

For Siblings, I really liked post #68, it read like a legit inquiry with some consideration behind it and less like noise.

Busy couple days between the Super Bowl and work; will catch up tonight. Intermission is being too passive in his defense of himself... I would expect more pushback.
Part of the problem.

@theplague42 Yeah, I'm a pretty calm player even when the heat is on. If I became overly defensive or angry that could be interpreted as scummy. I've explained myself with honesty and humility and I think that's a best practice when you've made a mistake.

I still don't think we have much meat to go on at this point, but I'll say I'm feeling fairly good about Siblings and Sheep for town. Mostly a hunch, but I think they've presented good questions and reasonings. Nobody thus far strikes me as overly scummy. I was slightly suspicious of Mitchell after he praised me and then voted me, but I'm not convinced either way.

@Transcend what exactly are you not feeling good about?

Why do you care so much about appearance? Your thought process implies you're not being calm cause you're confident, on the contrary- you choose this stance because you're aware of it being the best way to gain towncred, which is a scum tactic. Unless you're just a nervous townie which you state you're not. What's the deal then?

Was going to ask the same thing as Jester.

And I think Jester is probably town. He kept saying that intermission isn't the droid we're looking for, but is now changing his mind and questioning intermission on something I picked up on too. I even pointed out intermissions LAMIST statements and concern for his image to Ali in our hydra PT.

That jester is rethinking things and pressuring someone he originally thought was a bad spot for pressure, certainly comes from someone trying to figure the game out.

I thought the reaction was funny.

I think charl is probably town, although I'm having a hard time reconciling these two posts from him with no explanation of why he townreads intermission in the latter post

Why ask how he plays as town and not as scum? And nonchalantly saving it for last. I like to think that preserving your cards is essential in mafia regardless of alignment, so i consider this question kinda bad.

Intermission said that this is his first game in years. I can't help it but think of him as a time traveler; So i tried thinking about it and him playing overly cautious fits the picture. My questions towards him were mainly to see what kind of person he is. If he made a facade, there will likely be ripples in the future. So far i think his scum game is nearly identical to his town ones, but him putting in additional effort and his answers in general are enough for a townread at this stage of the game.

What do you perceive as his effort if not that? Because you have to agree, even if it's more than nothing, it's not by a lot (and I would argue Jester did more).

Intermission also seems to be missing that it's not his..temperament that is weird, or the questions, it's the lack of follow through.

@intermission, what've you learnt so far?

I think there is a misunderstanding. For me content=/= effort. Effort is purely how much time you spend making posts. Content is something noteworthy that happened in the game;
For example we are looking at a dog
Me: That's an ugly dog - Useless fluff
Intermission: Wow, what a dirty dobberman, bla bla bla - Elaborate fluff with a lot of effort put into it
Jester: Broken leg, beaten up. Calling the cops to arrest his owner. - Short, shrewd deduction that actually has a purpose.

Basically i give Intermission town points for effort.
