So rejecting everything that we use to explain how the world works in favor of something that doesn't is a forward step?In post 5338, Accountant wrote:I disagree. You must not imagine that for beings like you and us there can be laughter. The low men laugh, and we envy them. But for us, the higher ones, there is no laughter, only an unending vigil, purely serious, stretching on into the night.-

No tolerance for traitors
But when it supports the utopia we embrace it with open arms like the parent embracing a runaway child returning homeThere's nothing that says that a fake can't beat the real thing.

...and you wonder why I say the utopia would have to be in effect for it to start going into effect.
You'd have to outright shift the entire world to think the way you do before people can start thinking the way you do, because the level and method of progress we've had the way we've been going is provably effective. Rejecting the fundamental basis of that progress is not something that's going to happen by itself.
At least, barring a cataclysmic event that will set humanity back, which would be bad for your philosophy too since it's apparently a 'forward' idea from where we are now.-

That is not the same as smoking being illegal. It just limits where you can smoke. And good thing too, I don't need second hand smoke giving me cancerIn post 5357, Shaziro wrote:Also, the smoking thing is illegal in "(a)

I realize, I was correcting myself. Oh also, gay sex is illegal.

Here's a Business Insider article about the weird illegal things. Most of their links don't work, but they're all to that official site where you can probably use the search function to find stuff.
But, would you say that the high amount of legal enforcement and structure in Singapore contributes to your religion?-

Singapore is like a bad copy of the utopia in that it tries hard to do the strict legal thing but ends up seeming silly with chewing gum laws. I don't think it's any worse than some other silly laws though.

You don't have to accept it. It will come to pass. You will grow up and eventually have to come to terms with the fact that you can't live in a fantasy world. When that starts happening, you are going to view suicide as an option. And I feel I have to make a reasonable attempt to stop you.In post 5304, Accountant wrote:By the way, Kublai, you are forgetting one thing that guarantees that I will not commit suicide, and hence invalidates all the fake red flags you claim to have found.
If I am dead, I cannot live in utopia. There is no way I'd accept that.
I know you're going to repeatedly insist that you won't ever change and blahblahblah. You've got the stubbornness of a mule. Don't even bother typing it.
You've decided to engage a battle against reality but you have so much privilege that you don't actually even know what that means. You have no idea what you are up against and eventually you will crash and burn and hit rock bottom. Being able to cope with the shittiness of reality will help. Fantasies won't.Last edited by Kublai Khan on Wed May 17, 2017 9:25 am, edited 1 time in total.Occasionally intellectually honest
