I'm feeling good about the Nationals right now, hoping for a good playoff run after an awesome season, but a lot of other scary teams this year!

I'm pretty sure if Bauer gets a no hitter, it would be the first time in the playoffs a player gets 3 HR in a game and another player pitches a no hitter in the same day. Wonder what the record is for 5 innings?

Well that was ugly. Sale's pitches were flat all game and Altuve's seeing beach balls. Good thing it isn't a one game playoff! We'll be better tomorrow and level it up.

I did research at baseballreference.com .

It's officially the first time there has been a player to hit 3 HR in a game and another pitcher to pitch a no hitter through 5 innings on the same day in the playoffs.

I'm an AL fan but I prefer no DH. Closer games, more strategy, less inflated stats.

Honestly, I can't be mad. I'm beyond disappointed, but not in the Sox. They went out fighting and I give them tons of respect for that.

maybe we should get a fielder to stand behind them on the mound and handle their fielding duties too, they'd probably be better at it

At least with fielding you can make the argument that they're already out there. With batting, you're making them get up and go out to do a think most of them have minimal training to do. For what? Like, what is it that is actually gained by making pitchers bat? It doesn't make the games better. It doesn't make them more fun to watch. It doesn't add more strategy, outside of the most banal "OMG A DOUBLE SWITCH". It's mostly just an easy out. At least with the DH, you're putting somebody out there who is good at some aspect of hitting, and so long as both teams are playing by the same rules, what's the difference?

It's lucky that you're going to the ALCS, and not the NLCS; this way, you get to see a DH, which is the superior version of the game.
