Depending on which Haden they get it's either a decent deal or lighting money on fire. I'm inclined to think the latter, but you never know. The Pro Bowler could show up and surprise us.
I think it's pretty simple. There are people who are good at reading people, there are people who are great at reading people. Put me in a room with someone, let me have a 10 minute conversation with them and then I ask them 5 questions and I can more often than not tell you if they're lying. If I can't tell if they're lying or not, I can at least tell I can't tell. Then you've got lie detector tests. It could have been something as simple as Goodell going to Elliot and saying "are you willing to take a lie detector test?" and Elliot says "no" and Goodell says "okay then you're suspended" OR he could have even agreed to the test and failed. As much as people love to hate on Goodell, I think he's done a lot of great for the league and I trust him as commissioner to make good choices, not arbitrary ones.
I really don't like the way the NFL is heading. They are becoming this weird, jaded, reactionary enforcer out for justice for people that don't even watch the game at all. Meanwhile, they turn their backs on technology to protect old contracts, ignore medical research that screams that something is wrong, and are usually tone deaf on very important topics, i.e., Pink shit for a terrible charity, making the government pay for pre-game services, etc.
Goodell is a robot. The owners like robots. Robots make them cash. Problem is, eventually robots will kill everything good about the sport, and the fans will find something else. You look back at how dynamic and charismatic Pete Rozelle was, and how down to Earth and intelligent Paul Tagliabue was. Goodell is so far removed from either of those guys. It shows in his leadership.

Why are the Broncos included in that?
Yeah I don't get that. They finished third last year, don't have a franchise QB, and are playing in a really tough division. Yeah they still have a fairly decent defense but, they don't even really know that for sure until they start playing actual games.
I know more Bronco fans than one would think living here in NY and I don't know a single one who is going into this season with high expectations.

Most people that call us cheaters don't even understand what we were accused of and how it was cheating. For example, people don't realize that for the majority of the NFL's history, videotaping teams was a common practice. Coaches like Don Shula and Bill Cowher came out and said they wouldn't have nearly as many games if they didn't videotape other teams. Most people that are involved in the NFL don't hold the cheating scandals against the Patriots because they understand it, it's just fans who read headlines instead of the actual stories that say we cheat.

Well with the way things are going, I honestly only see the Giants winning one game until the bye, against the Chargers, and even that isn't a sure thing.

Honestly for only ending the game with a two-point difference, the Rams looked so much better than the 49ers. San Fransisco took advantage of some goofy shit though, and gave themselves a chance. They put points on the board, so I gotta give them that.
What’s going on with that defensive line though? They have young top talent on there and didn't get any pressure on Goff tonight. Or do much else in their other games if I’m remembering correctly.

They're giving up way too many rushing yards, and the secondary is looking poor. It's frustrating, because theoretically Gilmore should have made the secondary better, but instead, paying him instead of Malcolm Butler seems to have put the holdovers into a funk, and Gilmore isn't exactly performing to his price tag either. Gotta fix it, or it'll be a disappointing season where, like, the Pats lose the AFC Championship game.
At least I can enjoy the Jets totally Jetsing up their attempts to tank for a QB in next year's draft.
I’m starting to think it’s coaching issue.
There's just no way everyone got bad overnight. There are multiple All-Pros, Pro Bowlers, and up and coming players on this team playing defense. On talent alone, this is an elite unit. We might have a coaching issue and Patricia needs to be held accountable. 4 straight weeks of bad defensive play. The coaching staff needs to fix this.

If the original Patriots defense was this bad, we'd all be British.

Not saying that.
I’m just saying our defense is awful and needs fixing. I’m starting to turn towards the coaching.

When Gill is actually in coverage he is great. Penalties and miscommunication have been his problem. He is extremely talented, and he is not the biggest problem in this secondary in my opnion. I think letting him either play a cover 3 look like Sherman and lock down one side of the field or just man up the guy in front of him is the way to go. Let him boost his confidence.
Agree on the rest.

The data is out there now. There is no reason for a sports stadium to be subsidized by tax dollars, and we're seeing the fallout play out in real time for the Chargers. LA doesn't want them. They barely want the Rams. Now what?
Yeah, we voted against a CRAZY tax bill that was "supposed to only tax tourist"
He’s expanding Tesla there. I can easily see him making it the official car of the Chargers or something.

I’m not really sure I like the idea of a sports team in Vegas. I don't think it is going to work. Vegas is a tourist town. They are not going to have a loyal and consistent fan base. Their ticket sales will probably go up and down.

Not surprised.
Eventually everyone will come to terms with the fact that under this collective bargaining agreement, Goodell can suspend anyone for whatever reason he wants short of doing so on the basis of race or religion and a court will ultimately uphold it.

Nah. It’s impossible to conclude if he ever physically abused her. I can't go as far to say he never at any point touched her or treated her badly, but the allegations, all stemming from her testimony and photos she provided, don't seem reliable or trustworthy given all the conflicting evidence. No one else claims to have witnessed abuse by Zeke, however there are plenty who claim to have questioned or disagreed with Tiffany's allegations due to their direct involvement. I just don't see how an outside party such as the NFL can feel justified in making such a conclusion and suspending him.

I can never get into Bill's head but this is what I think he is doing:
Banking on Brady making it through the rest of the season unscathed, while having Hoyer as the backup just in case. And then picking up a new QB in the draft. He must have a college QB in mind that he loves and will use that 2nd round pick on him. That's the only thing that even moderately makes sense.

Yeah Dak has major talent and drive, no doubt about that. I've been concerned however that he'd fall off in a big way since the start of last year, because quite frankly he's a similar style of QB to guys like Kaepernick and RGIII, mobile, good runners, good improvisers, but not top quality arms or downfield vision. These sorts of QBs tend to be flashes in the pan. They hit big their first year or two, because they're doing things different and surprise defenses. Then the league catches up to them and exposes their weaknesses. And they become second rate almost overnight.

Wilson does has the best narrative and momentum going into this final stretch though. If he keeps putting on a show as the Hawks streak into the playoffs then I really do think he takes it, even if Brady has better numbers on the year. With the MVP race, it’s usually about peaking at the right time and Wilson is getting really hot when it counts.

Bro I get all that. I really do. However for me and a lot of fans around the league, it’s simply just impossible to ignore Brady still sitting on God-tier efficiency while still putting up the volume numbers of his two peers here. Those two things simply aren't supposed to pair together, but when they rarely do it almost always results in that player walking away with the award at the end of the year.

It really comes down to how you view the award:
A.) The MVP is the best QB or RB in the league according to statistics and/or winning percentage.
If this is the theory you subscribe to, then of course Tom Brady is the only answer.
B.) The MVP is the player who's team would see the sharpest decline if you removed them from the equation.
If this is how you would describe the award, it would be very difficult not to give it to Russell Wilson. An extremely efficient stat line coupled with the fact that without him, SEA would only have 4 or 5 wins.

Bad rule, good call. If anyone doesn't know that by now, they haven't been watching football for a while. I wanna see it changed as much as anyone but that's the rule.
Be mad at Ben. He was being beyond selfish and lacked complete situational awareness in that final play. Why in the fuck would would throw in triple coverage on a slant?

Not really sure how anyone argues this to be honest. I think it's stupid and should be a touchdown, but as the rule is written that is most definitely NOT a touchdown. He needs to complete the catch to the ground, and the ball moves FAR too much as it comes into contact.
The rule should be re-written, but as it stands now this is a correct no-touchdown. Stop letting the call distract you from the fact Ben choked.

Questionable TD call gives Steelers fans more reason to whine. Sad truth is they lost the game with that INT, and the Bills lost this game giving up 3 unanswered TDS. Holy shit, keep crying about the refs.

Lol game was tied at the half, their D was doing well against Brady at home and they got the ball to start second half. They didn’t have a reason to have low morale or no momentum.

Yeah sure!
It's been amazing to me to see how well he is doing. A lot of people are talking about how complex Shanahan's system is to learn, but on top of that - he had never played with any of these guys before. He already seems to have really good chemistry with Goodwin and Taylor but they mentioned the other day that he's got completions to 8-9 different people in the last couple of games. I have to imagine he and the rest of the team are going to get even more comfortable together once they actually have more than a few weeks' worth of practice as a team.
