The roles I am using are below:

The following actions have taken place in this order (if the said roles are in the game, and not in the middle of the table):
Role Resolution Order1.
Doppleganger
Selects another players card, and becomes a copy of that role. See chart below.
2.
Werewolves
are automatically notified who each other are, and may
not
privately communicate with each other. (If there is only one Werewolf, she selects a center card, A, B, or C ,to look at.)
Minion
is automatically notified who Werewolves are.
3.
Seer
may look at one player's card, or two center cards (A, B, or C).
4.
Apprentice Seer
may look at one of the center cards (A, B, or C).
5.
Robber
may take another player's card and replace it with his card, looking at his new card, effectively switching their alignments.
6.
Troublemaker
may switch cards of two other players without looking at those cards, effectively switching their alignments.
7.
Insomniac
Looks at his card to see if it has changed.

Rules:
(stolen from Wisdom, who stole it from someone else, who probably stole it from someone else.)

Game Timeline

• This game will phases will last up to two weeks.
• At the end of the day or when 7/9 have voted for Nightfall, we will move to Night, and everyone needs to PM me their choice for the lynch. The player with the most votes is lynched.

General Rules

• All Forum Rules and Guidelines apply and must be followed.
• Unless your role PM specifically states you are allowed to, you may not discuss this game outside of this thread.
• You may not directly quote any private communications (such as role PMs, QuickTopics, Private Threads) in this thread.
• Do not use encrypted or hard-to-see text (including "invisible" text, text below the 50% text size option, or text hidden via BBCode).
• If you are somehow able to edit/delete your posts, don’t. If you need a tag fixed or something similar, I’ll do it for you.

Activity

• If a player doesn't post in-game after a period of 48 hours, they will be prodded.
• If a player is prodded, they have 24 hours to make an in-game post before a replacement will be found.

If we get majority vote on a player, does the game end with that player's lynch, or are we unable to vote for anything other than nightfall.

You can use the vote tag to indicate who you are going to vote, but the only vote that counts is a vote for Nightfall. At that point, every player will PM me a vote. The player of players with the most votes are lynched. If there is a tie, both are lynched. Town wins if at least one werewolf is killed. The werewolf team wins if no werewolves are lynched.

Once every 48 hours. At Nightfall I will close the thread, and everyone will PM me a vote. If there are two people that have more than one vote, and tie for the most votes, they are both lynched. Town wins if a werewolf is lynched. The werewolf team wins if no werewolves are lynched.

I'll run it another time if there is demand for it. I was looking forward to see the doppleganger in action, and was kind of disappointed it was in the middle.

Any suggestions regarding the roles? In some ways I think it sucks for the villagers, as you don't get as much to play off of, but I think without villagers it makes it harder for the werewolf to blend.

I have only played online. From Thesp's original game:
The player with the most votes (and more than one vote) dies. If multiple players tie for the most votes, all tied players die. If no one receives more than one vote, no one dies. (There are some situations and win conditions that may call for this.)

I think in this situtation it turned out to be townsided because both your and alex had to vote GL, and GL and 3DR had to vote alex or they would lose in all cases. Normally, one of he scum would be able to vote somewhere else to throw it off.

I think we could try with the paranormal investigator like PokerFace suggested. I kind of like the Hunter as well which we had in the first two games. The Seer and apprentice Seer does mean there is good chance most of the cards in the center are looked at. Maybe replace the Apprentice Seer with the Paranormal investigator?

Does anyone else want to run it, and do we have enough for another iteration? I'll mod, or play if someone else wants to mod.

What about the if no werewolves, re-roll? I got that from shos, but I think taking out the possibility that there are no werewolves helps town. I do like the Minion becomes werewolf if he is all alone option. Otherwise town must circle vote to win, and minion just has to mess it up. It is like a guarenteed victory for the minion.

While its true seer + apprentice is OP since it gets to see 2-3 center cards. You get knowledge of whats in the game through whats not in the game. 5prs possible 4 villagers posible 4 scum possible, this feels better. Subbing in a hunter for one of the villagers would not be a bad idea either. Most powerful role in game is likely still the robber though

I think three Villagers is enough. In the rare case that there is 5 scum, I don't think that is that bad. First they have to figure out that there are 5 of them without outing themselves, and second, only one of the 5 has to be killed for town to win.

Unlike the doppleganger, if a paranormal becomes a werewolf, the other werewolves and minion don't know about it.

If we go with the setup you have above, I think we could have the full Seer rather than just the apprentice.

What do you think?

For the new roles:
Tanner, wins if they are killed.
Drunk switches his card with one in the center without looking.
Hunter kills the person they are voting if they are killed.
Alpha wolf: In addition to being a werewolf, selects one player and swaps their card with a designated werewolf card in the center making them another werewolf without their knowledge.
Mystic wolf: May look at one other players card.
Witch -starts on the village team. She may look at one of the center cards. If she does so, then she must swap that card with that of any of the players, including herself. Therefore, if she gives herself a werewolf card or tanner, she joins the werewolf team, or stands alone.
Revealer-looks at another players card. If it is not a werewolf or a tanner, the card remains face up.
Bodyguard-The person voted by the bodyguard cannot be killed. If they have the most votes, the person with the second most is killed as long as they have more than one.
Aura Seer- Is told which players either looked at or swapped cards, but not which action they took, or which cards.

Witch -starts on the village team. She may look at one of the center cards. If she does so, then she must swap that card with that of any of the players, including herself. Therefore, if she gives herself a werewolf card or tanner, she joins the werewolf team, or stands alone.
I don't like this role. She could grab werewolf from center, give it to another player, claim witch and get that player and herself double lynched for the win as town


Revealer-looks at another players card. If it is not a werewolf or a tanner, the card remains face up.
I am fine with this role. I may need to change my setup idea to include this but I have a question. If it reveals a minion does the card stay revealed?


Bodyguard-The person voted by the bodyguard cannot be killed. If they have the most votes, the person with the second most is killed as long as they have more than one.
I see nothing wrong with this role. But I don't see too many instances where it would be helpful either, so meh it ok


Aura Seer- Is told which players either looked at or swapped cards, but not which action they took, or which cards.
They check one player to see if they are a power role or do they learn who all has powers?


I agree on the drunk and the Tanner. It looks like a Minion stays revealed from the description. We could house rule modify that as I don't think it would be good to keep a minion revealed.

For the Aura Seer in the actual game everyone that swapped or looked at a card puts their thumb up when the Aura Seer wakes up. Here I would just send the Aura Seer a list of players who manipulated cards.

One of the interesting things about the Alpha wolf that I read is the Drunk can take the werewolf card from the center and that way knows his alignment, although that kind of messes with the alpha wolf's plans.
