The JOAT powers I gave you are pretty scumsided. Camn let me design the powers for it. It'd be hard to justify them as Town.

Jailkeep, for versatile protect or roleblock.
Strongman, for when you just need someone dead, no questions asked.
Rolecop, for

Jin, the plan is that we're going to try to draw an investigate onto you. That means be shifty enough to draw it, but not scummy enough to get lynched. It's a fine line, but I think we can make it work.

SirCakez, I'm not sure we've met in a game. I wanted to pick someone who seemed reliable and capable, but with whom I had little or no history. There's going to be a bit of outguess-the-Pine to this game (if Town is smart), so I wanted someone with no easy lines to me. I hear good things about you.

My plan is to buddy up to the people I'm friendly with, to try and throw some WIFOM shade their way. Namely, Mastina, Nacho, Gin, and probably Aeronaut.

Let's use the fuck out of this daytalk, mmkay?

Like. If he flips town POWER lynch me here.

I was informed that role assignment wasn't random this game.
Pine knows me to be a stellar scum player and not quite as strong a town player, yet I wasn't one of his picks for the scumteam.
But unless I massively misunderstood the game's nature: Pine did in fact get a choice in at least ONE scumbuddy, if not all three. (Something about a draft order.)
He didn't select me.

I refuse to believe he allowed both me and Nacho to be town.
So lynch me, lynch Nacho, doesn't matter who you lynch first but Nacho is scum.
Guaranteed.

I looked up the AngryPidgeon games Mastin referred to being in with Nacho. I actually see three; in one she was a Neighbor, another she was scum with him, Godfather and Goon, the other she was some kind of janitor. No clue where she's going with this.

This is what she's like. Just play cautiously around her. Start your own analysis from scratch, rather than building from hers. If you engage with her, just be contemplative, consider her points, try to gamesolve. Imagine it's multiball, and you're trying to find the other scum.

Plus, she's mostly ruled you out as scum, so there's that.

Nah, leave Mastina alone. She'll probably get lynched eventually, and is less likely to draw PRs later on.

I find that planning out later days at this stage is wasted effort. Fog of war and all that.

This is almost exactly the advice I was going to give. Treat her as you would any other experienced player. Fate and Nacho too. Some of the older folks like to encourage their own legend, but few are as blatant about it as Mastina. She's good, but she's just as fallible as anyone else. Right now, for example, she's got it in her head that I would never let all three of them be Town, and she'll likely hold onto that until Fate and Nacho have both flipped. To her credit, she's got Camn nailed. Camn drafted Nacho first and Fate second.

Ehhh, I'd be careful with Fate. He tends to be a bit OMGUSy, and his counterattacks are rough. I'd say let someone else lead the charge, but he's the kind for whom if you back down, he'll pounce. Best to ease off slowly, by finding a better target. This also has the benefit of looking like disingenuous distancing, should you get killed.

I get a sense that Monokuma is similar in that respect.

Maybe pressure BTD6 or Vaxkiller a bit. Just make sure it doesn't come off as bullying the lurkers.

EBWOP: I'm laying a version of the above post into the main thread as a mine. I'm trying to make it look like a mistaken post meant for here. I'm replacing Vaxkiller with Cakez, as he's kind of lurky right now, so I'd actually put pressure on Vax or Prism.

It will probably look like a genuine slip. It forfeits BTD6 as Town until Cakez flips, but if it works, it could make Cakez obvTown. That's way more valuable than confirming someone we can easily NK.

If I'm perfectly honest, Jin? I didn't. I picked Gin, and Camn misunderstood. She was really apologetic, but I was like "Yeah I can do this. Jin's quality too."

You're right, your scumgame could use refinement, but so can mine. My scumgame shines in late game too. If I get lynched as scum, it's usually early on. Once things have solidified, things are a lot easier to work with. The earlier the game is, and the more players there are, the more variables you have to deal with. People are less predictable. There's less confirmation bias. Look at Hunger Games...I was able to pocket Camn because she was set in her reads, and the ones that weren't, I could influence to where I wanted.

All that said, you did make it to my final cut, so I'm not upset. You've got tons of potential, and I'm happy to work with you to polish things up. Given how hard Gin is getting grilled, I'm calling it fortunate.

Pine literally stole the "oh shit that was meant for the scum PT, nothing to see here, I can bury this and people will ignore it" from me. This post more specifically, 2188, and the followthrough, 2190.

(Like, the concept of being confscum? This is how I handled it. Incidentally, that was the game which got me to switch from my Zorbak avvy to my trolol avvy.)
I've written three different versions of how to respond to this, as it's a little infuriating to hear Mastina assume I'm copying her when I've never read that game. As if I can't have an original idea of my own. Alas, I admit that it is beyond my ability to write an answer that contests her assertion without tacitly conceding her point that it was a fake slip. That may have been her goal. So I'll just bitch to you guys.

And yeah, I considered posting a version of this very post in the guise of a slip itself, as a possible response. Complete with this final tag, even. Frustrating.

Green light on Gin lynch. The longer we can use the WIFOM of Nacho-Fate-Mastina and the draft order, the better. It has then totally off track.

You look fine. I really wish I'd mocked Mastina's analysis of why I'd draft you a little more. I need to spread it out evenly, and an "Oh no, Aero! They figured out our secret plan!" would have been appropriate. I probably didn't due to subconsciously not wanting to call attention to accurate analysis, which is the opposite of what I need to do. They're buying most of what I'm mocking.

Yeah, she'll get herself lynched eventually. We'll just restrict our NKs to people who don't SR her.

Drop Fate to scum, and propose a theory that I chose a team consisting of relative newbies anchored by a single strong player and copious use of daytalk. Reference Hunger Games II as proof-of-concept. If someone questions how you'd know since you weren't in it, say you read the scum thread from it (you should anyway.) It's been referred to enough to make it enlightening reading, and the scum thread, while longer than practically any I've ever heard of, it short enough to be reasonable for research. Also, the specificity of the claim will allay concerns that it's fabricated. More specific lies are better.

I think we could get a Fate lynch today.

Also, Fate flipping Town with that theory would give you cause to question your read on Nacho or Mastina tomorrow, your choice.

Shrug. I asked after your health when you announced you were in the ER. I'm an EMT, so it was a professional inquiry. The fact that we've played together recently is hardly uncommon knowledge. Mastina and Nacho are the only people in this game I'd be comfortable saying with confidence that I've played more games with.

It has all the benefit of actually being true.

PEdit: Maybe? I have no idea. I could swear we played several back in the day, but recently all you'd have with me was your recently-modded game. I wouldn't use that as an example of my scumgame, that was a really rough game. Unforced errors.
PEdit2: It's...kind of a whole different world. The exceptional becomes routine. My average day at work is one of the worst days in my patients' lives. It changes you a bit the first time you legit save a life, and it definitely changes you when you lose one that someone faster, better, or smarter than you might have saved. Every time, not just the first.

I mean, seriously. Just typing the above got me emotional. I'm great in a crisis, I can compartmentalize my insecurities and fears and worries and focus on the task at hand, but after the fact, it can hit me really hard. Like...right now.

I love my job, though. I remember the first time I got that feeling of having true positive impact on someone's life. I was still in training, and we responded to a car accident. A mom with two young kids in car seats got rear-ended at a busy intersection. She needed to be immobilized for suspected spinal injuries, but was freaking out about the kids. She was very cooperative with me while my partner checked on the kids, but she couldn't turn her head to look at them, and couldn't hear them because it was so loud. We got her into our ambulance, and I had her just hold my hand while I talked to her. The kids were fine, and we told her pretty quickly, but she was still panicking about what would happen to them while she was in the hospital, what if she was really hurt, who would they be with, was someone looking after them, etc etc. All the time I just kept holding her hand with one hand, while doing basic vitals assessment with the other (I was still a trainee after all). A firefighter finally stuck his head into our rig as we were about to leave to tell us the mom's neighbor had arrived to take the kids home and look after them. Mom burst into tears, all the tension flooded out of her, and she finally kind of collapsed in on herself. She squeezed my hand really hard, moved her eyes to me (her head was still restrained) and said, with tears in her eye, "Thank you. I don't know what I would have done without you."

That moment rocked me to my core. It didn't matter that I was only one man among the thirty or more dedicated professionals reacting to the problem, even before she got to the hospital. I was part of it, and I had the privilege to look her in the eye and BE THERE for her.

I had decided to be an EMT for a while to pay the bills and fulfill a bucket list thing, but after that I decided to stick with it. Not as a career, EMS is really rough on a family man, but I'll likely maintain my credentials throughout my life and continue to volunteer until I'm old and grey. We deal with so many ungrateful pieces of shit, so many sad cases, and we can't save everyone, least of all from themselves. But every once in a while, we're in the right place at the right time for the right person, and we are able to be the cavalry coming over the hill. There's absolutely nothing like it in my experience, though many of my coworkers who are veterans say their experiences there are comparable, and I imagine there are uncounted police and firefighters who have similar stories.

So yeah. I have more than a passing interest when someone says they're in the ER.

Aero, stop feeding the
troll
Mastina. Don't ignore her entirely, but don't focus on her. Do your own thing.

Pretty much no one else is giving a shit about you, so your interactions with her are bringing up the question "Is Aero scum" a lot more than it naturally would.

Same could go for Jin, but he's "Sir Not Appearing in this Game."

Usually I don't find lurking to be an effective scum strategy, but it's going well so far.

So Jin, belay that attack on Fate entirely. Just go after someone else. Monobear should be a good target if you can handle throwing down with them. Aristophanes would be a softer target, but possibly too soft.

Aero, keep your vote where it is. Moving off right away is not the attention we want, but taper down overt effort against Fate. Choose one of your secondary reads and get super interested in them. When/if the Fate wagon crumbles, you can either begrudgingly move it or be stubborn on him, whatever the mood of the room is.

Cakez, you do you.

I feel like killing Mastina, even strongman, is unwise. She's got good reads, but is ineffective at leading Town. She's not truly a threat yet, and is an efficient distraction.

I'm pretty sure the Masonizer claim is bullshit, but it might actually be more effective to use the Jailkeep on her. It's a risk, but it could produce at least one free mislynch if it's real. We roleblock her and ensure her survival, her Masonizer fails, she assumes it's because she targeted scum, that's treated as a guilty, free mislynch. Then Mastina is heavily suspected when they flip Town. If she claims to have targeted one of you, claim odd-night Commuter to explain the fail.

I intend to see this game nommed for GOTY and best scum performance.

See, some games you get a fantastic scumteam performance based on their total domination of a divided and fractured Town, where they skillfully play one faction off against another. That was Hunger Games II, which inspired this game. Other times, when arrayed against a highly experienced, intelligent, and organized Town, mere survival is the mark of a good scumgame. This is arguably the most stacked Town I have ever seen in any game.

This was serious. Fate's reads could hand us some easy lynches. It was announced publicly partly for WIFOM, mostly for trolling.
We've been in the process of working on Fate for a while, but some established reads needed to be walked back. Then there was that 20-page jam session they knocked out in a few hours which seriously threatened to best elements of Town.

I'd like to kill Nacho tonight. Mastin we can jail, in case the Masonizer claim is not fake.

It really was. There was a fumble in setup, where Gin was supposed to get your slot instead of Jin. Gin is a strong new player whom I've worked well with before. Jin is good too, but his scum game uses a little work. You've redeemed the slot

I'm thinking there might be redirector shenanigans at play. Monobear is claiming to be blocked, and Mastina/Gin are claiming to not be, that suggests redirection. Someone redirected actions from Mastina to Monobear, maybe? That sounds like Fate, though I could think of some other people who might have.

Tracking won't give you Towncred. They know it was an invention, which doesn't prove anything.

Kill Prism, track Fate tonight. They've got a reason to want NL, might be to use another PR.

If we play this right, we can get Fate MLed. Portray Gin as being kept alive because he wants to mislynch you.

So he legit is a Bomb. Rats.

Torn on whom to kill. I feel like Gin has to go, but he's established to be a VT now. Ari also wants you dead, so he'd be a good kill too.

Prism seems like the only viable alternative to you, though I have no idea how we're going to pull it off.

OTOH, I am toying with the notion of going for a WIFOM nuke and leaving both Gin and Ari alive. Can't kill Fate. What if we DO kill Prism, and try to represent the notion that everyone who wants you dead was kept alive because they want you dead. Scum choose people who want to mislynch Cakez to bring to endgame for the win.

It's a gamble, but I'm not sure we have a better option.

OKAY

There are two votes on Fate

Game now hinges on whether Fate was fakeclaiming, whether he truly fell for my trolling, and what his role actually is.

His post at the end of the day implies that he is a Bomb, not Supersaint or Vengeful Townie. If he is either of those, he'll kill you and we lose. If he is simply a Bomb, we can win with a single vote, right now.

I'm not sure. There are merits to both hammering and letting them tear at each other a bit more.

I'm not clear on how serious Fate's sudden suspicion of Gin is. I don't think a Gin lynch is plausible today, though. Ari has him as lock Town.

Let's lurk a little more.

I'm thinking Fate is a Bomb, not SS or Vengeful

Okay, but I would hesitate to give them anything. Maybe declare intent to hammer, but say you need some time to catch up or something.

Or hell, maybe just do it. If Fate is serious about suspecting Gin, then the only one of the three possibilities that would be a problem is Super Saint. I'm ready to end this charade

Plus Gin's eavesdropper. Honestly that's not a ton of Town power. Camn just designed the scum PRs to be useless. GF is a Goon if there's no Cop. Jail keeper is pointless when there are no Town killing roles and almost no Town night actions. Ditto for strongman and only one role that would be affected - Hider would have to be strongmaned on exactly the right night and themselves not target Town for it to matter

Bomb, Vengeful, SS all make sense to me

I concur. It is simply a risk we have to take. Ari doubling down on his TR of Gin obviates that possibility.

Wait for Fate to post, then hammer. Ordinarily I'd say quickhammer, but the possibility that he's Vengeful who might change his mind means you don't want to cut him off.

If he insists that he's a Supersaint, and asks you not to hammer because it would result in a Town loss, grant him a reprieve and insist that Gin unvote so Gin can hammer. This would make everyone happy.

I think...hammer might be the best play.

I think there are good odds that Fate is a Bomb, not SS or Vengeful. There are odds that he is, but it's worth gambling on. Game state won't change with the passage of night, and I don't see votes changing except against us.

Do it.

Well, the thread title is specifically indicating that it's Twilight, so I'm guessing Vengeful Townie.

It's down to who Fate chooses, both the figurative figure and the player.

<3 I picked you because I knew you'd be a great sleeper agent. You did not disappoint.
