Question! Considering the results-orientation of Toogeloo and your apparent critique of it:

Is it fair or unfair for someone to take past results and use them to judge future performance? Is it more fair to take the sum of all results, functionally assuming inability to adjust, or to take an average over the most recent results, allowing recent bad runs to overshadow a longer good run? Are results less important than reads that simply follow the confident, or are they less important?

Do you think our moderators/reviewers would purposefully select flavor that was exactly divided on scum-town lines, allowing a massclaim to break the game open, or would they select flavor that would purposefully hamper attempts to divine alignment through flavor?

All of these are honest questions I'm very curious to hear your answers to, and almost more importantly, /how/ you answer them.

Past results can be used to judge performance, and obviously more recent weightings are more crucial than years gone by, but no one game is a good indication of someone's ability to play mafia on the whole, just an example of it. Even my best played scum and town games aren't a single point that can indicate how I am at the game, it's my record of evidence as scum that really sells me as one of the best scum players on the site, and some of the records we've done.

As town, I have strengths and weaknesses, same as my scum, but the real goal for town and scum is to look at not just an aggregate of results but of how you play. I think a recent bad run is indicative that something has changed for a player either personally or in their opponents, and they may need to change, just like how killing townies day 1 means yuo are on a wrong path and need to change.

I think Cabd would refuse to allow a massclaim to break the game, or at least would prevent the named townie syndrome from happening. Given my role, I'm pretty confident that either there are some flavours in the game that you expect to be there that won't (see: Code Red) or that some of the Mtn Dew flavours won't be town.

I have always thought that this game was a normal game with mt dew flavor, and that claiming flavor provides no info. I remember that Code Red was a flavor that the Towelie hydra would be excited about and that's why I brought it up in an exaggerated way. There is a virtual edition on steam with online turn-based multiplayer. It was fun but people don't really play any more, and the format with super long turns would have really benefited from being in a browser instead of in a steam game you had to launch, plus it needed to alert you of your turn when the game wasn't open.

(Yeah I play that version when I want to just zone out and do some math sometimes against the hard AIs. Sadly those AIs suck so I dunk on them but it's more about making my own score go super high.)

With a fresh head today trying to take a more holistic approach toward the game, well, I don't have a very good feeling about it. I still don't know about dunn.

I think gamma is probably town, I'm starting to come around on critter town i think but that's mostly gut around how they handled the mush inquiries earlier.

Other than that this game is full of people who don't emit intentions very much early, are being deliberately close to chest, or have been mostly nonentities. If it comes down to it I am probably keen to sheep LLD d1.

Their stance on MM and Emmi is not good, their reads list reads like it was manufactured, not generated, their interactions with towlie make them look WAY worse and I think Towlie looks pretty town and finally their Signal to Noise ratio is way too high for my liking, especially for a slot that called others out on it. I can't find a solid stance in their ISO about most anything, mostly it's fights they're picking with the intent to stop others from progressing suspicions, not progressing their own.

Their reads (and their vote) haven't shifted this game near at all despite pages of content.

Assume for the moment that Skitter is scum. She could have easily went for “easier” elims or brought some to claim. The fact she hasn’t means one or more of the pushes done today has been on scum. There’s no reason for her to just suddenly swap her read on me like she did.

The way in which they are approaching the game, hunting for town over scum, means they will never ever ever ever be able to have any control over the game, and moreover, is a lot harder to fake as the days go on.

It reads genuine to me, and given their minimal postnig, if they were scum I would have expected more hesitance on all of Dunn, Gamma AND Kyouko at this point.

I think Mocha is townier than EMMI and Strange. I don’t see scum bears intentionally doing a jester bit and intentionally poking a fight with Gamma. In contrast, EMMI is a null read at best. These past few pages have had almost nothing posted and I get she’s VLA for 2 days now but if I am being generous the last time she posted anything close to content was Wednesday, and even then it wasn’t some shiny beacon of content. It’s something very clear.
Dunn on the other hand I do waffle on. There’s reasons I TR him and reasons I SR him.

Right now my top suspect is definitely Wisdom right now. His logic makes initially sense, lurking is generally scummy, that makes sense. Then he pushes an EMMI elim (Someone who hasn't posted right now, gunning for me is a little more understandable from what I've seen from him) which is very odd to me. Normally gunning eliminating lurker slots makes sense to me only if there isn't a better elimination that I would normally want. It really doesn't make sense to me why Wisdom thinks EMMI is scum at this point though.

Without context that's a very easy misreading to make.

The context is... in the post that you took that from though. Like, the context is clearly (once I am dead, people will kill EMMI/Strange, Strange first if VFT is town please).

Wisdom is one of the most frustrating, egomaniacal players I have ever played with multiple times, mostly because he's a very good player and I respect him even when our styles differ so greatly.

Like we had a conversation last night that is about how things go. We talk past each other because we'd rather just do our own thing until the own thing plan doesn't work and we have to try and convince each other.

Wisdom's not 100% town here, but he's better than random to be and if he is I trust him to have good read development as the game goes on. Besides, I'm ALSO capable of being frustrating and egomaniacal so there's a bit of kinship there basically.

tl;dr Wisdom's good at this game and I'm willing to listen to him. If that means anything to you coming from me, that should answer most things. Beyond that, he's probably town here but it's nowhere near my top read.
