Day One

Outside its cold, raining and already getting dark. Winter in New Jersey is miserable, doubly so for a working stiff. As the work day winds to a close, the everyday patrons of the Satin Dolls Gentleman's Club begin to arrive in ones and twos. All sorts of people make themselves at home in the club every night to watch the girls dance and forget about their problems with a drink in hand. But tonight, something has changed.

Behind the stages and the dancing girls a private card game is going on in the manager's office. Everybody in the neighborhood knows about the infamous Moretti crime family, but not many were aware of the small crew that operated out of the back of Satin Dolls. A cell phone rang, and the shuffling stopped.
"Yeah boss?" A pregnant pause. "I got it." Nervous looks pass between subordinates. "The feds are onto us. Somebody out there is talking to them. The don wishes for us to take care of the problem." It takes a moment for everyone to comprehend the gravity of this statement. "We start tonight."

A scream from the dancers' changing room breaks the hypnotic spell the club has cast on its patrons. The girl on stage freezes. For a long second, nobody reacts at all. Then somebody shakes off the stupor and runs into the back to find out what happened. He returns, his face a little whiter, with one of the dancers clinging to his arm sobbing.
"Its Monika," he explains. "She's.. she's dead. It looked like she was strangled." Everyone stares at him blankly.
"Strangled?" someone repeats.
"Yes. And there's more. There was a note." He reaches into his pocket and pulls it out.

Somebody talked. Now people have to die. - The Morettis

Suspicious looks pass between the patrons of the Satin Dolls Gentleman's Club.
"We should go to the police," says a timid voice.
"Absolutely not," someone else counters. "I don't know what this is about, but those animals would certainly kill us for that."
"Be careful what you say!" warns a third person. "They're probably still here. They're probably among us right now." The implications of that statement are quickly realized. The doors to the club are quickly shut and barred.
"No police then. We do this the old fashioned way."

I realize that this kinda sounds like a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway. We got 12 people and at deadline half the majority lynches. So does that mean 12/2 = 7, 7/2 = 3.5 so its 4 votes for a lynch at deadline?

End of Day One

The storm outside Satin Dolls intensifies as the evening wears on, but not as much as the discussion going on inside the club. Accusations are leveled, and the swell of majority opinion rises and falls against more than one of those present. In the end, the group consensus is split, with an equal number desiring retribution for Elmo and hasdgfas. But the Elmo camp acts faster, dragging him onto the stage for a serious reckoning. The whole club is ablaze with bloodlust, the people on the club floor calling out for death just as those upon the stage are about to enact mob justice, when a voice rings out above all the others and stops the proceedings.
"Get a hold of yourselves," says the commanding voice of the Satin Dolls respected (and feared) bouncer. Climbing up onto the stage, he pulls Elmo away from the impromptu lynch mob. "I won't stand for this violence tonight, it is my duty to put an end to this." Cowed and ashamed, the mob backs off. Several people climb back down from the stage. "You'd best take advantage of this reprieve, sir," the bouncer admonishes Elmo. "Your silence almost got you killed tonight. Think about that, and speak up in the future." With that, the bouncer ushers the emotionally and physically drained crowd out the door of the club, agreeing that all will return tomorrow.

Day Two

The weather is still bleak, but not as bleak as whats being broadcast on the five o'clock news. It seems that a local small business owner was reported missing by his wife when he failed to come home from work at his usual time. It didn't take long for the police dive team to find his body, at the bottom of the Passaic River, with a pair of cement boots on.
"There are no clear suspects in this case," says the officer at the press conference, "but we believe this murder is related to local organized crime syndicate the Moretti family." The news plays footage of the divers pulling the body out of the river, eliciting a gasp from all those who were at the Satin Dolls Gentleman's Club the previous night for although the water has already distorted the body, he is easily recognizable.

End of Day Two

Discussion starts quickly this evening, and in no time a contingent of the crowd is calling for Tarhalindur's blood. "You fools!" he cries out, before they win more supporters, "I'm a federal agent, here investigating the Morettis. I'm not the one you're after... but Glork is!" With shocked gasps, the discussion erupts into a shouting match.
"You're lying!" Glork counters. "I'm just an exotic dancer, I don't know anything about the Morettis."
"Oh, exotic dancer, is that what they're calling it now?" someone else says with a smirk. Glork gives a delicate little laugh and won't look the man in the eye.
After a long and loud argument, with many taking both sides, Tarhalindur finally breaks down and admits the truth. "I can't do this anymore," he says pitifully, as the crowd glares at him. "I work for the Morettis." More hands start grabbing him and dragging him towards the stage, as everybody lets go of Glork. With apologies to whatever anonymous gangsters remain in the crowd, he offers his own belt to Glork, who tightens it around Tarhalindur's neck. Everyone watches with revulsion as he gags, his eyes bulging and face turning purple before he collapses to his knees and dies.

Day Three

The top story on the local news today is the ongoing investigation into the death of Patrick, including a poignant interview with his widow, a dowdy woman with prematurely grey hair who's taciturn demeanor leaves little doubt as to what drove him to spend every evening at the Satin Dolls Gentleman's club. The lack of news on the death of Tarhalindur means that the police and the media still hasn't gotten any inkling of what is going on at the Gentleman's Club under their very noses. But this also means that when everyone arrives this evening at the club, they have no forewarning and are aghast to find the body of Glork in her dressing room, where she's been beaten to death with a heavy chain and lock.

End of Day Three

After the very unsettling discovery of the once beautiful Glork's bruised body, the patrons of the Satin Dolls Gentleman's Club quickly begin to circle round poor hasdgfas. "You did this!" comes a cry from the angry mob, though several people simply take hold of him and start pulling him towards the stage without saying anything at all.
"Wait! No! I would never hurt Glork! I loved Glork! I was

in love

with Glork." That unsettles a few people, as they try to come to terms with the gender-bending sexuality involved in the situation, and in the brief respite PokerFace's name is bandied about, while Mizzy and eldarad get into a shouting match.
In the end, though, the people decide hasdgfas must be lying about his love life and his professional life, and take him to the stage to face justice. At least they were kind enough to strangle him with a feather boa from the dressing room so he could smell Glork's sweet perfume one last time before going to the big Gentleman's Club in the sky.

Day Four

The anchorman on the local five o'clock news broadcast seems to be in complete shock to be reporting on his second murder in three days. It seems that Ether, a young woman who lived not far from the other recent murder victim, was stabbed to death outside of her apartment last night. You recognize her from the grainy photograph displayed on the screen.
"Right now we're investigating what appears to be the unfortunate outcome of a lover's quarrel," says the detective who is being interviewed at the scene. "We have reason to believe that alcohol was involved. The victim was stabbed to death with a broken bottle." As you steel yourself for the unfortunate task you have ahead tonight, its not very comforting that the police are so far off the mark.

End of Day Four

Everyone is affected by the death of Ether, the strange young woman who spent all of her free time in a gentleman's club, but scotmany12 gets back to business quickly. He wins the minds of the club's remaining patrons quickly with a stirring soliloquy, at the expense of Erg0.
"Well of course you would think I have ties to organized crime!" Erg0 counters, pointing at his prison tattoos, "I'm Australian!" Everyone looks confused for a moment. "Also, I'm an ex-con!" he adds.
"Somehow, I don't think you changed your ways," comes the reply from one of the crowd, as eldarad, and Incognito help drag him to the stage. As he struggles, PokerFace spots the gun sticking out of Erg0's waistband, and snatches it before the criminal can get too violent. After he is tied to the pole, PokerFace takes careful aim with the man's own gun, cocks it and lets the hammer drop.

Day Five

The evening news is reporting live from the police headquarters, where the widow of Patrick is being held in connection to the murder of Ether. A shocking twist indeed, as the lead detectives from both cases field questions.
"Yes, from what we've come to understand the young lady who was murdered two nights ago was indeed the mistress of the businessman who we pulled from the Passaic River earlier this week," says one.
"So his wife found out and murdered her in a jealous rage?" says one excited young reporter. It was like a soap opera.
"That is one of the possibilities we are investigating. Of course, everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty," the other detective continues.
Walking to the club after watching the news, you can't help but be amused by the turn in the case. But all joy drains from you when you turn a corner near the club. Parked as it has been since before this whole problem began is a white van, with the words "Salerno Brothers' Plumbing Service" emblazoned on both sides. But today you see one side is pockmarked with bullet holes, having been apparently strafed by submachine gun fire. Joining the others standing and staring into the wide open doors, you are greeted by the sight of scotmany12, prostrate on the floor of the van amongst banks of surveillance equipment, bullet wounds in his chest and forehead.

With so few remaining in the Satin Dolls Gentleman's Club, tensions are high and discussion deadly serious. Except for PokerFace, who stumbles in smelling like Mel Gibson did on the night the world found out he was an anti-Semite.
"Good God, man," says an astonished Incognito. "Are you drunk?"
"Ayup." *Hiccup*
"I'll bet its because you're in mourning for your dear friend Erg0!" accuses eldarad, who helps Incognito take the drunken man towards the stage.
"But.. uh.. Erg0 was Australian, not Irish?" says Mizzy. But suddenly things go wrong when PokerFace pulls out the gun he stripped away from Erg0 yesterday. Now why didn't anyone notice he had kept that?
"The next person to accuse me of being a criminal dies with me!" he slurs, waving the pistol wildly. Everyone backs off, then begins to eye each other suspiciously. Seeing that what he thought was a brilliant plan had only made things more confused, PokerFace tries desperately to come up with a way to make things right. So he puts the gun in his own mouth and pulls the trigger.

You sit, glumly, reading the tabloids, killing time until you have to go back to the club and get back to your dark duty. The first page has a full page color picture of Ether and Patrick holding hands on a beautiful, pink sand beach somewhere in the Caribbean. What do you know, they were lovers. In big red letters the headline reads "MURDEROUS LOVE AFFAIR ROCKS NEW JERSEY TOWN," and in smaller print bullet points it outlines all the lurid evidence:
-BILLING STATEMENTS FROM SEEDY SEX SHOP!
-HE PAID FOR MISTRESS' APARTMENT!
-THOUSANDS IN OFFSHORE BANK ACCOUNT!
-MOB TIES!
-WIFE TELLS ALL!
Christ, you think, will it never end? Folding the paper up to take along, you head out for the club. And tonight, you find a grisly scene right inside the front door. Mizzy, in a drying pool of his/her own blood. The brass knuckles gripped in one hand did him/her no good. S/he's had his/her gender-identity confused throat slit.

End of Day Six

Three somber men sit around a table under the harsh florescent lights of the Gentleman's Club, usually only turned on in the wee hours of the morning to usher out the patrons after the last dance is over, but now illuminating the final day of this Satin Doll Showdown. The stench of death is almost overpowering, as the bodies have been stacking up in the establishment for almost a week. They speak in quiet voices, going over the events of the past few days and trying to piece together who among them is the last one working for the Moretti family. Then eldarad comes to a decision, pointing an accusatory finger at Elmo and leaving the gun in the hands of Incognito, figuratively speaking. And also literally, since there are still bullets in the chamber of Erg0's weapon, which Incognito hesitantly picks up. The hesitation is proof enough that the final criminal must be one of Elmo and eldarad. After an agonizing decision, Incognito levels the barrel at Elmo's chest and tentatively squeezes the trigger.
Bad idea.
With catlike dexterity, Elmo lashes out at Incognito, sending him reeling, with blood running from his nose, seeing stars. eldarad jumps back in shock as Elmo flips the table on its side and then, ducking behind it, pulls his own gun from the holster hidden in his boot and starts shooting over the edge of the table. eldarad dives for cover. Incognito, still in shock, just starts yelling at the top of his lungs and shooting wildly.
BANG
The door of the club is battered down, exposing Elmo from behind. He wheels around, but its too late. Several members of the SWAT team already have their rifles trained on him. His survival instincts kick in, so he drops the gun and raises his hands in the air. Everything is over as fast as it began. Agents swarm into the club, putting Elmo in cuffs and taking eldarad outside for questioning. A psychiatric specialist comes to convince Incognito he can stop pulling the trigger of Erg0's gun, the bad man is gone and he's out of bullets anyway, but the only response from Incognito is "Going to my happy place! I'm a genie in a bottle, baby!" Some people just don't handle stress well.
Outside, the lead agent is going over details of the week's events with eldarad, as Elmo is lead to the backseat of an unmarked car. Before the door is shut, he catches eldarad's eye and shouts a warning.
"You testify, you're a dead man, you hear me? Dead!"
And in his heart, eldarad knows its the truth.

Armed with a recording of Tarhalindur's voice which you surreptitiously took during the days proceedings, you leave the club, round a corner and walk up to your white van with the words "Salerno Brothers Plumbing Service" in big, cheerful letters on both sides. Looking over your shoulder to make sure nobody is around, you unlock the rear doors and jump in to the back. Its cramped amid all of your listening and forensic equipment, but there's enough room for a chair which you settle into, plugging the day's recording into one of the larger machines while you put on headphones to listen in on the conversation going on in the back room of the club.

After a few tense hours of processing, the voice recognition software flashes red. You've got a match.

Walking towards your car from the club, you notice the street light you had parked under has gone out. This alley is a lot more sinister without it. You nervously reach for your keys when you hear a sound behind you. Spinning around, your shout is muffled by a damp cloth over your mouth. The face of your assailant is all too familiar as the chloroform sends you into a dreamless sleep you never wake up from.

Dreading the thought of once again spending a long night in the cramped back of your van amidst electronic monitoring equipment, you load your recording of Ether's voice into the system. One of the gangsters has been dealt with, but you know he wasn't alone. As the processing starts on the recording, you drift into a fitful sleep.

Waking with a start, the sun is climbing into the sky and the light on the voice recognition software is flashing green.

After keeping Mizzy in the VIP lounge until the wee hours of the morning (and for the first time fully understanding the meaning of "Oh my god you're sucking me") you retire to your dressing room to relax. Walking into the room and turning on the light, you gasp in shock at the sight of a man you know only too well sitting in the chair with a heavy chain and lock dangling from his hand. You have no time to react before he's swinging it at your head, and as the lock crashes into your temple a beautiful starburst behind your eyelids is the last thing you ever see.

You're beginning to hate everything about your assignment, especially after witnessing the horrible death of another innocent person today, this time at your own hands. But still you trudge to your hideout with a snippet of Erg0's voice in your possession and settle in for the long night. As the computers start to deal with the recording, you slip on the headphones to listen in on the what there is to hear in real time. Your heart flutters when you hear an angry voice that you could swear is Erg0, and confirmation comes quickly from the red light indicating he's as guilty as the day he was born.

Clutching your purse close, you try not to think about the horrible end of hasdgfas' life which you contributed to as you hurry through the seedy neighborhood around the club to your apartment. As you turn the corner and walk up to your building, you see a drunk stumbling down the street towards you, a wine bottle in his hand. He's singing "Amore," but horribly off key, and something about his presence at this late hour makes you very nervous. Standing on the stoop, you fumble for your keys. By the time you notice the singing has stopped, he's already at the foot of the stoop, moving too fast to really be drunk. He smashes the bottle, and as you try to race past and run away to safety you feel the jagged edge of broken glass sink into you. Falling to the ground bleeding, your last sight in this world is the man whistling merrily to himself as he heads back in the direction of Satin Dolls.

Excited by your success today, you hurry around the corner to the van you've spent the last three nights in. You hope that you'll be able to close the case tomorrow with the recording you took today of eldarad's voice. You pop the headset on to listen to the live feed from the back of the club while you turn on the rest of your machinery. But there's no sound come through. But there is something moving outside your van. You reach for the pistol under your jacket, but its too late. You hear the spray of a submachine gun a splitsecond before the whole instrument panel in front of you is ventilated by the bullets. Then there's the white hot pain in your chest, and blood everywhere. Its impossible to breath, and for some strange reason all you can think about is the definition of a suction wound which you memorized for the field agent exam. If only there was some seran wrap in this stupid van. The back doors open, and you see the form of somone standing over you, but can't keep your eyes focused. The figure raises the gun, and then its over.

Once everyone else has left the club, you turn off the lights for the night and start to lock up. It wouldn't be good for the police to stumble on the carnage thats taken place here just yet. As you're reaching for the padlock, there are footsteps behind you. Always cautious, you reach into your pocket for the brass knuckles kept there as you turn around to confront whoever it is.
"Must have dropped my wallet somewhere around here," the man says, kneeling at the bottom of the stairs feeling around in the darkness. You eye him suspiciously. Its one of the Satin Dolls' patrons, but armed as you are, you still feel safe.
That was foolish.
The moment you turn back towards the locks, he springs into action, and you feel the stiletto sink deep into your back. Your cry is silenced by the swiftness with which he follows the first attack up, cutting your throat.
