RCE, aside from Shiki, you're the only player I didn't get a gut townie feel from your opening. My only experience with you is hard-boiled eggs, but I recall you being apparently townie almost immediately (despite your attempt to play somewhat scummily). Additionally, is positioning yourself to be uninvolved. I recently played a game where scum did something similar (~~~). Again, I'm not too familiar with your playstyle, but I do know based on HBE that you adjust it strategically. For example, in that game you took a back seat Day 1 because you were a power role. Seeing as there are no PRs this game, this strategy cannot be compatible with a town role. Therefore, there's a good chance that your positioning is scum motivated.
Overconfident

Something_Smart, you are playing in a way as if waiting for something to latch onto rather than immediately getting into things. Yes, you're a man of few words in general, but that doesn't preclude you from being involved, even if it's just fluffy stuff. You are likely scum.
On the money

Mr. Pink, you asking me to go into my reads, even while in the middle of your role play, is a townie thing to do. You are likely town.
tmi territory wrongness

Iconeum, it's strange that you considered yourself as potentially being a part of the scum team. While you were joking, this doesn't seem like a thought that would occur to a townie. Additionally, you accidentally referring to Isis as scum is indicative of a partner slip. You are possibly scum.
wrong in a NAI way in the latter part, I don't remember the former part

shiki, your play so far has been focused on establishing rapport (, , , , ). This indicates that your alignment / role is such that public relations are a priority. Furthermore, you had a reactionary response to my scum read in , as indicated by the mimicking of my use of "hm." Doing so was likely the result of a subconscious impulse to exhibit bravado: such is the natural instinct of a person who is attempting to uphold a certain image of themselves (in this case that image being that you are a townsperson). Additionally, inquiring about my read further indicates that you are concerned with how you are being perceived. It is highly likely that you are scum.
rings true in a town indicative way

Conspire (anonymous hydra), you have been responding quickly and fluidly, which indicates a lack of guilt or associations. Your is indicative of the mind of a detective. It is highly likely you are town.
sure maybe

Isis, The post you quoted of shikis in does not appear sufficient enough for a town lean. It is likely that this is fabricated and that you are scum. However, since I tunneled incorrectly in Chiptune, I will give you the benefit of the doubt until D2.
valid reasoning although that's not my alignment, sry for playing to memepost wincon, garners townpoints

Jake The Wolfie, your RVS and RP appear natural. The RP itself is NAI, but there is a certain maliciousness that can be identified among nefarious RPers, and you do not appear to have it. You are likely town.
It sounds like this is a toneread? And who can ever refute or agree with those tbh

ooc: flavor is randomized (look at a role pm) i don't really see how this is relevant. i misremembered a detail of a movie i havent watched in years. this overration to my nai roleplaying mistake is definitely alignment indicative
It's not an overreaction. Shiki hasn't claimed her flavor yet, and if it it's Freddy, it could indicate you knew she was Freddie from your role PM or N0 scum PT and forgot that wasn't public info when you used it to enhance your roleplaying. It is likely you just picked a random character, which we would find out when she claims her flavor.
It's not really necessary for everyone to flavor claim, just the real Freddy would be enough.

There's also about a 1/9th chance she's Freddy and you totally didn't know that at all as town but I'll take that risk on.

I interpreted 171 as just forcing a counterfactual as truth for humor rather than a correction on a name misspelling. Which I guess it is if this movie has a character called Nice Guy Eddie.

I didn't realize nice boy meant the same thing as someone's flavor which made it public info. So it looked like private info from like "the scumteam is shiki(freddy) mr. pink(mr. pink) and Enter(Mr. Big) here's a link to the pt"

Mr. Pink hasn't been content-rich no but my personality read for him makes me think he'd feel so stressed to be scum in this game he wouldn't even be able to roleplay in a way that isn't stilted.

This game doesn't even have daytalk

Azelf doesn't have legs.
Legs are defined as limbs that prop the rest of one's body up, against gravity.
Azelf cannot possibly ever need such an appendage, its ability is Levitate, it floats naturally.

that's an odd conclusion

don't you think that if Mr. Pink rolled scum, it's *easier* for him to roleplay instead of doing actual AI things that he can get caught in?

what makes the roleplay so town?
I want to double down and never ever admit defeat but you're making me question myself.

My characterization is based on a marathon dance game where bugs made lots of little comments in the dance pt but was very passive and quiet in the game thread.

I was thinking of trying to assess based on comparing the absolute volume of what's available in the game thread, but reframing it as "look at how what you are getting is distributed" reaches the opposite conclusion with the same data.

Does that make sense?

He considered this for a second.

"I don't have any at this time. I would have to consider what has been said first."
VOTE: Jake the Wolfie
The first time this was "scummy unless he means he's gonna follow up with something in an hour or two" and I came across it again re-skimming and the hour or two thing didn't happen

This is pretty objectively scummy if you pick it apart. It implies AI material exists in the thread and he's sensed as much but isn't naturally arriving at reads, which is more likely to happen as scum if you have to manufacture reads. The cognizance that AI material exists makes it less likely he's genuinely town genuinely experiencing that problem. Contrast with S_S not believing this thread has anything AI in it because well don't get me started again but you see what I mean here.

The mitigatory would be the WIFOM of how Jake is walking straight into that here but given context and phrasing it doesn't actually come off like he's contemplated he might get scumread for this post.

I'm guessing that's a metaphor for that he's multitabling, but that doesn't undermine the point. I'm not even sure it's a dampener rather than an amplifier given how some people naturally distribute their energy for their scumgames and towngames

I mean it's one of those funny, mafia-is-kind-of-dumb-sometimes partner clears, so that's not nothing. But I don't view it as otherwise alignment indicative

Information someone shouldn't have.

I didn't realize nice boy meant the same thing as someone's flavor which made it public info. So it looked like private info from like "the scumteam is shiki(freddy) mr. pink(mr. pink) and Enter(Mr. Big) here's a link to the pt"
I don't know who pops is or why she smells like french mist but I want to draw everyone's attention to how I made this mistake earlier because I only started playing mafia here on april 6
I thought it was possible that maybe Enter could be one of the scums if he decided it would make it more balanced, give some really good advice on kills based on what people are putting in their notes PTs and stuff
I started modding Less Pressure two weeks ago and I override one of the mafia goon's kills to swap to shooting one of the Vanilla Townies because it was smarter to reduce the townie's stealthier characters, but the next thing I knew the the PT got locked and Micc started PMing me explaining me that I can't pick and say I'm on it and please pretend like I want both teams to win. Like the person who does the votecounts isn't even really a player? It's super weird.

anyway I posted that in this game before he explained it to me but Micc also said I was supposed to pick the side randomly instead of which ones I thought made the cutest couple so if I was in the scum PT this game I would be able to see that Enter use a dice 9 instead of a dice 10 and know some of that. So basically making this mistake confirms me town and I really would want for you guys not to be voting me and maybe copy my votes too I will find all the cops you guys

more seriously I think scum!RCE ends up doing a more careful reread or -knows- i wouldn't be trying to fake a townslip as town so it's probably town equity, but the biggest question mark I would hang on that is why was it slowplayed this extent? like that interpretation, if adopted, is pretty scumlocky. Can you walk me through how this is merely "ugh, vote Isis" level voting?

He seems like scum who's gotten distracted about being technically right in a way that makes him wrong with respect to the implications on his sorting.

There's a sustainable alternative view where you could view the legality of the members of a scumteam separately from the legality of the size of the scumteam, sure. The illegal member was placed at the ordinal position to coincide with reaching illegal size. But even with that you could still view them as separate.

But scum!Isis constructing an townslip post is generally not going to want to include inaccuracy humor in general, even if it's fully unrelated. It would muffle the impact. For example, I don't think a scum!Isis would let Enter be the funny character "Mr. Big" either even though that's more clearly unrelated, although it's kind of hard to imagine scum!Isis going for townslips in general because it's not really a thing I'd do anyway to the point where I'm tempted to drop it all and just BoP him to know my tendencies that well.

If he is confident I am scum at the time of Ame defending me and attacking him, with Ame using bases that as far as I can tell are not resonating with RCE very much, it is not a town thought process for RCE to interpret Ame's actions as misguided town defending scum, and certainly not town defending town.

That's why it's a shitpost.

I'm in a bad mood right now, but I can't talk about why due to ongoing games that aren't ongoing anymore they are now abandoned and named The Flying Scumsman

unfortunately I think it's exactly how Something_Smart would engage with the game after realizing he hasn't been doing so, which sucks because I want to give him a carrot and not a stick for roleplaying. It is kind of what I wanted and as someone with a soft negative view of him it seems like I'm the most strategic audience to play to

it's not that they would be less desirable for him as town but rather that they'd be more desirable for him as scum. trying to engage rcenigma when he is being pushed has little benefit to scum in that position whereas engaging with iconeum in real time or asking you a directional question and following up on it both solves the problem of his unengagement and also shows him to be scumhunting within a very limited subset, allowing him to then later only need to present reads on those involved and have a built in reason for doing so.
yknow maybe it's possible shiki is just playing this game about four levels higher than I am

I kind of need to see green text in Jake's role PM to want to grant any points for that Jake towncase

the roleplay thing is just more about being compliant in general and not roleplay specifically. It's a pretty correct assessment that town_S_S kind of has a more serious attitude to the game fmpov so loosening up isn't going to be how to get me (I suspect I'm correctly read the opposite way but that's a digression)

i'm not nearly as concerned about S_S donut consumption compared to Jake and RCE and it's nice we agree about dragon

the lack of defenders makes it likely he is scum, and redflips are more valuable

Nifty, Enter's guideline is "a nickname works if I understand it"

Obviously if I didn't want to take ownership of possibly lynching I'd have checked if he had the common "abbreviations only grumble grumble"

This post shall unambiguously reflect that I regard much of RCEnigma's as being similar to an Uxie and thinking of the two concepts as one and the same, to such a point that enter should understand a nicknaming.

@Enter

You might want to PM OkaPoka to release that marathon PT since it's a minor game integrity kerfuffle for me to know he tried to quote something and no one else to get to know
pretty sure Oka wouldn't mind releasing it

Maybe I would feel worse about it if I had read off of that or anything Mr. Pink is doing this game I'm pretty confused.

Selfvotes are scum indicative by default.

People get hung up on why any one particular scum indicative psyche or school of thought renders it scum indicative, then point out that view is less then 50% likely, but when you add all the explanations together they outweigh town motivations, generally

The character in my avatar uses a pseudo-apple (different logo for trademark concern) computer so sometimes I call her iSis.

Since that game had a special lynching mechanic with no hammers, it's hard for me to count that.

I'm surprised I won a mafia game I don't remember playing, though

When I think of behavior that is similar, I think the closest thing was when in Monty Hall Mafia there was a democratic doc protect for tentative scumkills and I tried to convince everyone to lolhammer the doc protect as a group while "scum" was potentially afk and voted with my partner to doc protect someone (my partner)

But I think that is distinct in that the benefits of the theater were very clear.

The standard format is "If Spain border India, some triangles have three right angles", but Jingle PMed me once about embassies between countries with normalized diplomatic relationships ruins some of the vacuous truth fun so I have to use planets these days.

Ame-jake

RCE-Shiki

The conspire is a wildcard that can show up on either one.

It didn't, I didn't say it did

I would say my cognizance of the idea that a vote like mine would be honored was like 10%. If Something_Smart perceived that I had tried to hammer him, but failed to do so, he could react in a sortable way. I was very pleased with myself when I thought he had a scum-indicative reaction and then rather embarrassed when he flipped green

@Ame; thanks for the high praise! i'll try and be a Knight to e5 for this game. does your confidence in us come from your confidence in RCEnigma!scum, and us helping you push him? or is it an independent read?

~Esper ♤
I rarely do preflip associations heavily based on the bonds between players. But a paradigm for understanding the game can impact my view of multiple slots. When Ame is town, I think his view of RCE and shiki as making disingenuous insufficient efforts to rake the leaves of a game that has been relatively quite has good validity, and I think Ame has good reads even though I have no idea why I believe she does since he didn't really find any scum in Chiptune as far as I remember.

When Ame's arguments are ad-hommed I think my Jake scumcase was the strongest case made this game.

The fact I was willing to put Conspire on either team and thus know bond between any two players would be guaranteed to be on any one team kind of shows how it's a paradigm thought and not an associative thought. Does that make sense?

If Ame's arguments are good and should be resonating with me, resonance is town and also he's likely to hit scum. If they are bad Ame's scum, I burden her with more proficiency with that. Even her TvT mislynches drip reasoning.

Ame might try to counterexample her Looker towncase, but I don't think that was ever resonant or refutes my approach to this type of thought. He townbinned Looker with me in a game for similar reasoning but I moreso townread the politics of doing so on the eve of a partner lynch, for a slot with gamelong mislynch equity, etc, rather than the reasons.

I don't know if Enter would moderate in the same manner if I were to PM him a question about voting mechanics. Although I am a rules nerd more likely to go to the OP rather than ask the mod unless I wanted to abuse it to get communication which would be outside my character. Playing devil's advocate is so hard.

If she's polarizing the town, it'd be the way he's QED'ing in eir dialogue with RCE. I don't think vote canvasing factionalizes games, if anything it paints votes as being idea driven and not personality driven and preserves cohesion.

i think i failed to communicate what i was asking. i agree that the vote canvasing is designed to mend the fractures. i was asking if you thought she (sorry for defaulting to this pronoun if it is incorrect, ame.) had created those fractures before noting them and making an effort to reverse them.

I can't remember the latin mumble jumble it stands for, but QED means "and so, in stating this, I have therefore proven this thing". It is written at the end of a mathematical proof that is complete and does not contain skipped steps or exercises left to the reader.

Writing "QED" itself does not prove anything. It's a projection of confidence. When you project high confidence anyone who doesn't believe RCE is scum can't play mafia with you.

I'm not really taking it as a valid assumption that polarizing a town is necessarily bad.

I feel bad that it's been a long time since I found scum caught it and lynched it and so it's making me feel bad I'm pretty lost in this game.
But I should cut myself a break because I have rolled an eff-ton of scum lately that was supposed to stop when the calendars started saying 2020 on them

When I become interested enough in a character based on public domain mythology and use it enough times I tend to research on Wikipedia.

At this point Indian mythology feels like a blind spot because that region's mechanical theme aside from multiplayer bonus is "make multiple matches of the same color" which is a fundamentally weak strategy so I never use those cards and never look them up

In post 661, Ame wrote:Isis, the dream I had of you during Purgatory was of us discussing her wiki article.

I also found out during that game that the kanji used to indicate goddess names, Ame, is the kanji for 'heaven,' which I thought was fun detail during my ascension.

Shiki, that makes a lot of sense (except for the nonsense about the propensity to make a mess of the game). I didn't intend to disrupt your play, but I can totally see your perspective.

This looks like scumposting. The questioning about the town reaction to the push is a fitting type of inquiry in different contexts, but didn't resonate with me very much, it felt so much like the wrong question to ask that seemed like the right one. Interacting with shiki would bear more fruit.

The prompt to Jake takes no stance and leaves the slot uber flexible to do whatever it needs to. This is particularly meaningful for a hydra.

Last, but not least, he keeps trying to learn a new move that will cause him to experience less pain. The only move I can think of that Umbreon can learn that can do that is Detect, which would make him a filthy Detective. He is trying to corrupt you too and teach it to you too. Please do not allow his dark pulse to spread.

No one ever townreads Hectic. Hectic just systematically destroys and obliterates any desire you could have or imagine to participate in activities with the remotest possibility of resulting in his death. He bragged to me once about having no mislynches in his first 12 games on site or something like that once. Even scum do not want to lynch him. There was a game with some confusion about role PM distribution that shook out in a way that should make him more likely to be scum for failing to notice townies were all CC'ed for receiving a VT role, and in that same game my scumpartner was threatening to kill everyone in the room to protect Hectic whilst ignoring me. I have only ever even attempted to mislynch him when it was badly necessitated AND he was half V/LA AND a mechanic paired his lynch with another one that was more compelling. In spite of those things, my human capacity to play scum that way confirms I'm not human. A human's will to send any and all physical, metaphorical, or theoretical objects that are not medical care, food, or Christmas cards in his general direction is rapidly undermined and eroded until it has been totally disintigrated.

I have never played a full forum-paced game with Kanna, but from a marathon and reading parts of some games, I have a fear that as unimaginable as it seems she is made of some of the same stuff. It's like at the end of the Incredibles, when you think JakJak will be a normal baby, and then suddenly he starts showing signs of his own poorly harnessed superpowers. And your entire body courses with fear.

that's kind of a change of topic though. Charisma and townspew are different. People can meta and adjust when they know you are good at projecting townish things in general. There's a je ne sais qua that LLD can scream her head off at me that I am scum, mimic precise patterns from the last time she was scum, and make me feel like I want to find a different person to rope

I think Hectic rolled scum this game. I asked him if he was and he didn't answer, that means he is.

The only question is in which order will he nightkill us?

That seems like a good impression of Esper, maybe she directly participated in these compositions.
I like that cosmic acknowledged thereisahectic

I am creeped out by ame's perceptiveseses as always. Figured out when I'm drunk and she even dreams about things I am likely to do, all sorts of wild things. Kind of has me convinced her townread of me isn't tmi which might let me throw this game.

I really want a VOTE: Jake flip at this juncture.

I think we have to lynch Jake for this type of play over the course of the game

and then he flips town because people play bad/not at all X% of the time

and there's just no way it's not Ame

Ame was pretty clinical as scum in purg
being aware of the tendency removes its townspew effect though.

no, her play is different, clinical is very emotionless. Here she is soulful

being aware of the difference waters down how much I can count it, but it is town indicative.

I got excited I thought ame did a towntell prism taught me about myself when we were hydrating but when I meta'ed Ame's scumgame it doesn't seem to apply for her. Too bad.

posting some kind of follow up a few minutes later without intervening events. Prism says I do it a lot as town, but don't really do it as scum, until I started doing it more intentionally cause he told me that
Ame!scum seems to ask lots of people question right after posting something often enough though, looking through purgatory
I think the tell is fundamentally based on how scum!me brings every single post to the thread as required writing so once my obligation seems fulfilled it's like why would I post more?

In post 751, Conspire wrote:It's not TMI, Ame. I don't think it fits your character from what I've played with you.

Also, it kind of reminded me of eyestott trying to appeal to me as a person and use emotion over logic to get me to side with him in chiptune. I think in general town do it a lot more often than scum, probably due to a combination of scum feeling worse/dirtier about it, and town feeling no shame.

you misspelled "non-LLD scum"

is Celestial = Kanna?

LLD is a legendary scum player that is very emotionally manipulative

Jake could you ever do some sort of thing remotely resembling townspew this mafia game?
