The Rules

ONE: FUNDAMENTALS
- All site-wide rules apply. Read and respect them.
- There is no personal communication outside the forum postings (regarding this game) unless your role specifically allows it.
- Do not quote your Role PM or any private communication (either real or fabricated) with the moderator, co-moderator, backup-moderator, or fellow players. Paraphrasing your Role PM is acceptable.
- Be courteous and respectful to all your fellow players and the moderating team.
- Play to your Win Condition.
TWO: DAY PHASE
- All groups with Private Topics (PTs) will be able to converse during any Day Phases.
- Votes must be in the format of VOTE: PlayerName or
  Vote: PlayerName
  , or they shall not be counted. Abbreviating someone's name is acceptable, so long as I can discern who you were voting for without trouble. If I think it should count as a vote, it will.
- Unvoting is not required, but is much appreciated.
- Once you have reached a simple majority (half of all living players plus one) that person's fate is sealed and they shall be eliminated. Unvoting cannot change their fate.
- Once a player is eliminated the game enters twilight until I arrive and post a death scene. All players may continue to post during Twilight.
- Please post at least once every 48 hours. If you fail to do so, you will be prodded. If you fail to respond to said prod within 24 hours, you will be replaced.
- If you get three or more prods, or fail to respond to a prod by posting in thread within 24 hours (or by PM if at Night), I will begin seeking for a replacement (this means the third prod functions like a notice that you are racing the search for your replacement.)
- A deadline extension may or may not be granted; just ask.
- If no player reaches a simple majority by deadline - no elimination is the result
- Votes and Unvotes shall not count in Twilight.
THREE: NIGHT PHASE
- There is no night.
- FOUR: CAPITAL OFFENSES
  - Do not quote your Role PM or any private communication (either real or fabricated) with the moderator, co-moderator, or backup-moderator. Paraphrasing your Role PM is acceptable.
  - Do not quote or screenshot from a PT into another PT or Main Thread unless
    all
    participants have access to the PT being quoted.
  - There is to be no personal communication outside the forum postings (regarding this game) unless your role specifically allows it.
  - The following is a list of outlawed shenanigans:
    - Using invisible text, codes, cryptography, etc.
    - Editing your posts (if you have the power to do so)
    - Insulting other players
    - Quoting any PTs you may have access to
  - If any of these offences are committed, I have the right to force-replace you from the game, or, with Listmod permission, modkill you.
- FIVE: MISCELLANEOUS

The Law of the Jungle: The Strong Survive, the Weak Perish

You must find safety in numbers, but trusting the wrong people can have disastrous results.

Form teams of

five

by voting for Captains among yourselves.

Game Rules:

A player is designated as a

Captain

if they receive five votes. (Players may self-vote)

A captain must pick a team of five from the people voting for them(this always includes themselves as one of five)

Captains have

24 hours to finalize their team picks after selection

- during this time additional players may vote for that Captain.

Players that are already part of a team may no longer vote.

If you are unable to form four teams of five within the deadline allotted, I will ask the Mafia to group the remaining un-teamed players.

Sitting on the cold metallic floor, you eye each other warily as you fly over the Pacific.

Or at least what you think is the Pacific, you were never very good at geography and it's not like there's windows on this plane.

The guards distribute cold ham and cheese sandwiches and a cheap knockoff version of Coca Cola; so much for the in-flight service being good.

After what seems like an eternity you are awaken by a voice over the intercom.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking, we are approaching our destination but unfortunately due to local building codes there is no runway large enough for us to land.

We will have to make a parachute jump to our final destination. Unfortunately due to budget cuts, there are not enough parachutes for everyone, we apologize for this incovenience.

We will be using the age-old distribution method of "Finders Keepers, Losers Weepers"

Game Rules:

Over the next 48 hours the moderator will at random drop "parachutes" into the thread.

The first player to quote the moderator parachute post will take the parachute for themselves with the command

If you already have a parachute, you may take the parachute for a teammate with the command

Take Parachute For ___

If your team has five parachutes, you may not grab another parachute.

Players who end the game without parachutes will get a free lesson in "falling with style".

Your jump instructor explains that if you do not land on the building, there is a very real risk you will be eaten by the tigers that live in the jungle.

On the bright side your jumpsuits will make it easy for them to find you in case you don't become tiger food.

It's a miracle all of you managed to land on the building and avoid becoming tiger food.

So much of a miracle that the game organizers apparently didn't plan for it and now need to remove somebody.

Since they don't quite have the supplies to set up a new game due to budget cuts,

They've decided to let you have some good old fashioned mob justice in the dark.

Game Rules:

This game will last for 36 hours.

You may chat in your Team/Mafia PTs, the main thread will remain locked for this event.

You may send me a PM to "attack" a player.

The player who has been attacked the most over the night will die. (In the event of a tie, the Mafia will decide the Tiebreaker)

It will

not

be revealed who attacked whom at night.

Rules Clarifications:

The only information that will be revealed upon resolution is the identity of the dead player.

You may change your "attack" target up until the deadline resolution.

Actions sent after the deadline expired will not count.

Once two captains trust each other, their teams will merge, the two other teams will also merge and we will move on to Event Four...

You have 48 hours for this phase. If you do not decide by then the Mafia will be given the opportunity to decide which teams merge.

No one will die immediately as a result of this choice.

The guards sheepishly take away the rope set, apparently some people do not want to play tug of war.

It's a real shame because Pooky was really looking forward to a Spamathon too...

Classical Music begins to play over the loudspeakers.

Looks like it's time to dance

Event Rules:

This phase will last for six days.[for pairing, there is a new timer for elimination]

Players on Team Clown Queens will be able to propose a dance to Players on Team Tryhard Avengers.

Players may accept dance proposals to them.

Paired players may no longer propose or accept proposals, they will be set up with a PT after all pairs are made.

The Player left out of the dance will perish.

If there are multiple unpaired players at the end of the timer - the Mafia will be asked to pair them in any legal fashion(one from each team).

After all pairings are done, we will begin a traditional dance - (players may vote to eliminate a pair and players may also leave their dance partner).

This dance may or may not end the game depending on if the Mafia achieve Parity.

Be honest, when designing this did you think there was any chance at all of this happening?

I wanted to do it, but I knew when I suggested it that it was never going to work.

I didn't expect the town to be able to control any of the eliminations in the first three games.

But they could have if they had the will to do so.

It's hard to design for balance because you don't know which players are going to occupy which spots.

You just kind of hope that the game is close enough that both sides have a chance of winning at the end.

I mean you did know the town would be able to enforce policy elims because one of the tenets of Mafia Games on this Website is that the town must be able to win easily if the player cards are all revealed otherwise it would not be defined as Mafia.

the red light green light game that i originally came up with

was even more absurd

so when jingle was like

why dont we make them play musical chairs

it seemed tame by comparison :<

the easiest protown way to play that was:

agree on a set of people who were poe

those people dont grab chutes

nobody grabs chutes for them

then discuss elims after everyone is chuted up

instead it turned into a clown vs tryhard competition

which was really masterful imo for the scum to pull off

firebringer uniting team clown to go head to head with team tryhard was probly one of the best scumplays ever

it totally changed the dynamic of the game state from one where an all town team caught the scum flat footed to one where the scum had a fighting chance
