TLich, I have a question. Is this deck supposed to be more or less balanced or is it supoosed to be completely crazy, like Grand Idea Mafia?
Like should I post vanilla townies / mafia goons etc. here, or only crazy roles?
And are bastard roles allowed? Encouraged? Etc.

At the beginning of the game, you will be assigned a player to protect. You exit the game in a win if that player survives past the end of Day 4 (is not the Day 4 lim).

Once per game at night, you may choose to sacrifice yourself to protect a player. This ability and your death are unblockable. Following your sacrifice, targeted player will become deathproof for that Night phase and until the end of the following Day phase (for example, if used on N2, they will be deathproof for N2 and D3).

Mod note: You may decide to change the target survival Day to Day 3 (for smaller games) or Day 5-6 (for games with a bigger number of players)




I swear I thought of this before Korina submitted a Guardian Angel role in GIM.

Also, do you think the player should be allowed to pick their target instead of it being randomly assigned?

Mod Note: This role is supposed to have 3 different neighborhoods, with at least 2 of them having different people in them. I don't wanna over-complicate the role description, so just figure it out.

During Pregame (NOT when you initially choose this role card), pick one of the following three options. That will become your role:

2-Shot Avenger


Twice during the game, you may target a player at night. That player will be killed and any actions they attempt to take that night will be prevented.

2-Shot Stalker


Twice during the game, you may target a player at night. You will learn what types of actions they took that night and which players they targeted with them.

2-Shot Guardian


Twice during the game, you may target a player at night. That player will be protected from two (2) kills that night. If they would still die (such as due to Strongman, Roleblock, or multiple kills), they don't die anyway and you die instead.

Oh cool, you played Epicmafia? I thought the site went down a while ago.

Also I think we should try to post quite a bit of Vanilla Townies, both as a way to balance the power level and also to quickly fill up the town slots, which there are a TON of and are currently behind on being filled up comoared to other slots.

Based on my flawless math skills, if we make 15 "Surprise!" cards, then each individual player will have roughly 4.4% chance of drawing at least one.
And if we make 30 of them, then each individual player will have about 8.7% chance to draw at least one. Which personally sounds pretty good to me but would like to hear y'all's opinions.

You have the following innate abilities.

Possession

Each night, you may target a player to give them one of the following inventions:
  • A bunny invention - may be used to mod-confirm the player as cute. May also be used to detect if another player is scary.
    (Werewolves, Demons, Unholy Beings and Serial Killers are scary, as well as any role that has "scary" in its name)

  • A gold star invention - may be used to mod-confirm the player as the best student in class. May also be thrown at another player with a 20% chance to kill, 20% chance to roleblock, and 60% chance to miss.
  • A fruit invention - may be used to either give another person a fruit, or just eaten for lunch.
  • A virus invention - oooooh, mysetrious.
  • A toy gun invention - may be used to force another player to claim (not necessarily a trueclaim) in their next post.
The mod will decide what the virus invention does

If there are no players with Pokemon-related avatars or usernames in the game, you should reroll this role.


You have one Pokeball at game start. You may use it to capture Pokemon, by throwing it at a player who is a Pokemon during the day. If you are not eliminated by the end of that day phase, the player will be captured.

Captured Pokemon may not use their night actions. Instead, they share a PT with you where you are able to command them to perform certain moves (chosen by the moderator. Determined by Pokemon type, NOT by in-game role).

The mod will give you game related challenges (such as killing a mafia or preventing a nightkill), and when you complete them you will level up. At each new level, you gain a new Pokeball.

All captured Pokemon may win with you regardless of their initial alignment, if you have reached level 5 before the game ends (this does not impact your own win condition, which is determined by your alignment). Captured Pokemon can still win with their old alignment, regardless of your level.

If you die, your Pokemon are released.



BTW i think you should not place any more groupscum alignments into the deck, because the groupscum slots have been depleted, so any more groupscum would just eat into the free spaces (which personally I would love to have filled with reroll cards, weird alignments, etc.)

You are cursed, which results in you being Silent, Macho, and Hated.
(Silent is explained below. Macho players may not be protected from kills in any way. Hated players take one less vote to eliminate.)


Once during the Day, you may honor kill another player, causing both of you to unavoidably die. This kill works even on players who are deathproof or who have extra lives, etc.

During the night you may perform one of the following actions:
Protect: Guard another player. If they would be killed, you die instead, and cause the killer to bleed.
Meidtate: Attempt to gain insight. The moderator will let you know of one night action that occurred this night and who it targeted, but not who performed it (Ex: DragonEater70 was investigated).

Silent:
You should not write in any chats, with the following exceptions and clarifications:You should NOT quote others. You may cast naked votes. You may post "Yes" and "No"(as a replacement for easily recognizable gestures of approval). You may freely post in the "Silent" chat. You have access to the "Silent" chat, with all other Silent people and maybe others.
If you break this post restriction you will be notified at the start of next night (by the moderator). After that happens you can only vote once each day unless there are 3 or fewer people alive. The penalty will not be lifted otherwise(e.g. not during 5 player EXLO).
There are no further penalties for breaking your post restriction, and you may choose to break it if you want.

Minions do not know your alignment and do not have a PT with you, but should try to help you win anyway.

If any other player correctly submits a guess of the fact that cheating occurred, who prompted it, and what was the nature of the cheating, you will immediately become a Neutral Survivor and then die. Other players are not informed of you cheating, nor of the possibility of submitting a guess.

You have the following abilities:
  • 2-Shot Nightmare Architect:
    During the day, if there are at least 9 living players, you may select a group of 5 players to participate in a nightmare. Alternatively, if there are at least 11 living players, you may select a group of either 5 or 7 players to participate in a nightmare. You may pick yourself. If you are groupscum of any kind, you may only include up to one groupscum in a 5 player group, and up to 2 groupscum in a 7 player group.
  • The nightmare:
    The nightmare is a PT shared by all players who are part of the nightmare. If you are not part of the nightmare, you will also have access to that PT, but you will be hidden and may not talk there. The nightmare will be only open for the night phase following the usage of the Nightmare Architect ability. During the nightmare, participants may talk with each other and vote on one ability the would like to use, out of the list below. If you are NOT part of the nightmare, you will gain an ability at the end of the night, based on what the participants pick:
    • Kill
      - kills a players. You will gain a
      1-Shot Strongman Kill
      (which may be used in addition to factional or role based kills you may have access to).
    • Normal Invention
      - grants target player a Normal Invention of the participants' choice. This is restricted to roles which are Normal for any alignment. It is further restricted to only active roles, or Activated passive roles, but not both (for example, "Activated Bulletproof" is fine, but not "Bulletproof Cop"). The ability be modified. You will gain a
      1-Shot Normal Inventor Invention
      .
    • Double Voter
      - makes a player a double voter publicly for the next day phase. You will gain a
      Crystal Ball
      , giving you a choice between learning one player's role, and learning any information that one player has received throughout the course of the game that does not come from their role.
    • Treestump
      - makes a dead player into a treestump. Can be used on a living player, and if that player were to die this night phase, they will be treestumped instead. You will gain
      1-Shot Deathproof
      .
    • Roleblock
      - roleblocks a player. You will gain a
      1-Shot Roleblock
      .
The parts in OOC tags are only included in the final role PM if they are relevant.

You are inherently WEIRD, so your powers may not work as expected.

Every night, you may target a player to weirdify. This will make them WEIRD, and any abilities they have may not work in the expected way.

You may shield a player once during the night, preventing them from dying or getting roleblocked that night. However you might accidentally steal their role. This might last only last one night or it might last multiple nights. This may be used on the same night as WEIRDIFY.

You may attack a player once during the night. This will completely roleblock them, even if they are supposed to be immune to roleblocks. However, they might also gain weird powers. Oh and they might also suffer negative modifiers like "hated" or "macho". This may be used on the same night as WEIRDIFY.

Lastly, up to two times, you may give a player weird visions. This will... give them weird visions. This may be used on the same night as WEIRDIFY.

All vagueness in this role's description is to be resolved by the moderator's discretion, with the goal of making things more weird.

All effects resulting from this role and its powers will immediately end upon this role's death.

I dunno.

There are a lot of things I like here but I definitely feel like there are a lot of things the previous iteration did better.

I think the best way to judge this though is to play a game or two with it. I'd be down to mod a round, but not anytime before late January / early February, so if someone else wants the honor of being first, go ahead.

Also I think that there should be a note that any roles that refer to things being Normal, should exclude Complex Normal roles and modifiers (since at the time these role cards were written, inventor/godfather/scum vig just weren't Normal).
