Cool, I leveled priest up to 10 and got to rank 20 at the same time. I'm cool with this. So what card do I get monday? Do I have to be Above 20 or at 20?

Played arena all day yesterday because I went 1 day infinite. Got enough gold to go back in today, hopefully I can do it again. Someone tell me how to not make a druid deck that gets overrun by mid sized creatures before i drop trees.

Nah I only care about trying to go infinite in arena, that's it. I've been playing like 3 days and I can consistently get 4-5 wins. I can probably get to mid levels with my *mostly* free priest deck.

I had a straight up 0 win arena as a druid and it ruined my almost infiniteness yesterday.

When I was googling around to see if gvg only gave gvg, I found I lot of threads crying about wanting arena to have a pick a pack function, but they've been wanting that for like 7 months so I doubt it's coming. Makes being a new player not easy because constructed without cards is no fun and arena which is super fun only gives shitty cards.

I have 3600+ dust and no direction of what to do. Which purples and oranges should I be looking for. I already have Boom and a BGM. I feel like I'm at the point where I need to pick a class/deck arch type and focus on that but i'm not sure how long it's gonna take me to expand into another class if I go ham and fill out one class with their major cards.

So if i'm commiting to rogue by build fel reavers, would it be better just to grab force and ancient of lore?

Right, it's a deck building game, but it kind of defeats the purpose when everyone runs basically the same 5ish decks based on whatever x site says is worth playing.

In post 2709, Venmar wrote:Every deck building trading card game does this. Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic the Gathering aren't exceptions and both have archetypes and specific decks that rotatate as Tier 1 decks most top level players either copy or imitate. Nobody will build a shitter deck with magma ragers or shitty basics and commons, people will build good decks. If that means people copy top level decks from sites then so be it, but people like me will always tweak them to preference if needed. If u can't accept that people will use what is objectively considered good and consistent, or think that is boring, maybe you shouldn't be playing a tcg.

There's a difference between MTG and heartstone in that MTG has interaction between decks, where as hearthstone is literally just about putting a deck together that takes 30 life from the opponent faster. The entire point of HS seems to be curving out and punching face.

As Broseidon said, just the interaction of declaring blockers makes two aggro decks far more interactive in MtG than in HS. It's not incredibly interactive by MtG standards but it's definitely something, to where even if you're just straight running Gobbos you need to take into consideration something other than your opponents life counter+taunt. Even taunt isn't incredibly interactive because they essentially just add life total to the opponent - Sledge Belcher basically says gain 7 health, the opponents take 3 damage to deal 5 damage it, take 1 damage to take the other 2. Even if you go to the MOST extreme side of no interaction in MtG, which would probably be something like Legacy Belcher(which also happens to be a deck I tremendously enjoy playing), you still have the bare minimum interaction of "hey, I'm comboing out, do you have a Force or nah". The other big thing(and MtG was getting away from it as I was getting away from MtG because it's unfun) is resource denial. There's no way to interfere with the opponents resources. Card in hand(deck) or Crystals(there is actually one exception I can think of off the bat, but the point mostly stands). I think there being spells that can target random cards in hand Hymm To Tourach style could be cool.

Also, I definitely think aggro shaman is strong, but right now I feel like I'm having much more success with tempo mage. Maybe because it has a good matchup against shaman. It also has a neutral or better matchups against most of the field. I haven't had trouble beating priest but apparently it's weak there. Also weak against Demon zoo and Freeze mage, but I don't see those ever. I only see handlocks, mech mage, and old style/budget zoo.

Honestly though, I'm not sure I am a big fan of the Ethereal Conjurer.

IDK man, I only played the matchup once and won easily. On tempostorm, that's what they say is supposed to happen, so I just took it as truth.

What is this midrange rogue deck with unearthed raptor and where did it come from?

pEdit: yeah, most of the shaman lists have finley in there now.

Edit: I finally beat Dragon priest with tempo mage. It took a very lucky very fast hand. 2 fireballs, 2 sorc apprentices, 2 arcane missles, 5 mana discover guy and mana wyrm. And I think I had a frostbolt in there. He also missed his 2 drop taunt man and played it on 3 - which seems to be the leading cause of any dragon priest loss, either he doesn't drop on 2 or you don't have another dragon in hand. I kinda wish I could play it, but I basically have none of it. Only the expansion pack stuff and Azure Drake.

I'm rank 13 or so, and yeah I don't NEED doomhammers to win, but anytime I draw one I almost certainly do unless I'm in such a bad spot where it doesn't matter. And I've definitely won more games because of doomhammer than I have lost because I drew 2 of it. I honestly think I've only drawn 2 of them twice. Once I lost but the second doomhammer wasn't all of the problem(I mulliganned into the entire top of my curve), and once I was so far ahead it didn't matter.

No, because if you're going mech, you are probably doing it because of Powermace. I would cut fel reaver though. But I really really hate fel reaver. I feel the drawback is just way too much. Everytime I've played against it, it's never hit me and the guy lost a bunch of cards.

I won a game last night literally from only Doomhammer beats and a couple spells I think. 2 Doomhammers, I think rockbiter weapon at some point. I just never really drew into a my dudes. And the ones I did draw into got exploded.

I had never played it before, and had only really seen it in action once or twice. I lost my first game, won my second game. Neither one had patron get online or even come close(the win was just straight mid range beatdown with death bite into grommash burst but it was against a janky rogue golden monkey deck so didn't feel good). Was just about to post that I wasn't really sure if it was me or if the deck was just really not great anymore and was overrated based on it used to being great. I played 1 more against mid range druid. Ended up with a full board of grim patrons and denied him any board at all. So, uh... everyone get in here, men.

I played Oil for a while, I seriously never got it. I didn't play a version with Van Cleef or Thalnos in it though, so maybe that's why it was bad? IDK. I eventually just gave up on it.

3-1 with patron now(with patron triggering two games in a row). Doesn't really seem that hard, maybe level of difficulty changed(or I'm just doing normal rank 11 things). I just kinda play it like a normal mid range deck.

Yeah, I'm just bad and don't understand Oil. I can leave with that.

In other news, 4-1 with new patron. PILE ON

fuck this faggot fucking bullshit game. I see two leper gnomes every fucking game. my deck can't even spell tunnel trogg. I've had to check if they are even in the deck at this point No hammers, no troggs. Just bullshit leper gnomes and feral spirits every game. both copies. Someone has replaced all the good cards in my shaman deck with bad ones.

I just can't win man, lost all the way back down to 12. Just getting bad draw after bad draw on every deck and getting straight RNG'd by everything. Every lightning storm completely wipes me, my RNG cards always do 1 less damage than I need.

Nah dude, it's just everything. Just got crackled for 6 to put the game away. If it was reversed it would have been a crackle for 4. But seriously where are the scripts on Crackle, implosion, and chosen juggler damage.

I threw something together real fast that you may be able to put together

2 backstab
2 deadly poison
2 clockwork gnome
2 cogmaster
2 blade furry
2 eviscerate
2 annoy o tron
2 goblin auto barber
2 mechwarper
2 spider tank
2 tinkertown tech
2 oil
2 piloted shredder
2 clockwork knight
2 sprint

You might be able to replace a knight or a sprint with your fel reaver. But yeah idk. That seems not totally the worst deck ever. I'd put Dr Boom in it but Boom makes every deck better.

I disagree, man. I think it's really fun. It's a unique deck that supports a pile of different strategies based on what you see. A lot of decks play exactly the same, regardless of what you pull, you're just following the gameplan more or less optimally.

God damn man, unstable portal is so fucking good. Like sometimes it becomes a Bluegill Murloc and whatever at least it replaced it self. But when it becomes a Confessor Paletress, it's ridiculous. Just played a turn 6 Confessor into inspire, spawning Brann Bronzebeard, into a turn 7 Dr Boom for 4 Boombots for the old 11/11 for 7. Happy Feast of Winterveil!

well, everyone loses boom. So what fills that void? Do curves even go to 7 after that?

Also Hunter without mad scientist could be not so good.

Is there a chance WotC sues the pants of Blizzard for calling the new format standard? Is that a possibility?

Used Agar's deck. Took 3 tries. Barely lost a race in the first one. Got blown out by a similar but better priest. Lost to weird tempo mage. Then I went up against another weird priest. Turn 4 lightspawn into turn 5 20/20 lightspawn is a hell of a lot of fun.

Where did the cabal mind priest come from?

Why do people play tavern brawl more than they need to? All of them are kinda stupid.

Just played a Egg Druid for the first time and smoked some weird hunter deck.

IDk i'm seeing a lot of bad decks at my rank today.

It's weird but I almost never see a lotheb against me, but he's in every deck I play.

with reno being so pervasive, I think aggro is fine? Idk I'm not great but It just feels the aggro nerfs are not great. And I think Face is good to have in the meta because they are mega cheap for new players. Midrange and control cost 7k+ dust, but those face decks cost less than 3k. Face cost 1k or less. Idk i just feel they are pricing out new players by nerfing good fast cards like juggler and leper gnome

I've never seen master of disguise in anything so idk why they touched it.

You can make a dope ass token deck with it. some streamer was playing it the other night. He won a couple legend games with it, and he had even forgotten to put in savage roar. So you can tune a token deck.

Dupe echo control mage against some weird rogue deck that created 1/1 dupes and thistle tea and gang up to create many healbots.

____
I played agains a deck very similar to buttons deck on my giant fuck you winning streak from 16 to 9. I'm playing big daddy hunter. Dropping the beast. It's great. I only can win with midrange hunter decks, I can never get past 10 with anything else.
____

Try to draft higher value cards and pick kinda to a curve. There are definitely strategy articles for arena if you google. Also play mage or paladin

In post 3751, Sudo_Nym wrote:Generally, you want to start by crafting useful neutral legendaries, since you can use them in multiple decks, so you'll get the most use out of them. So I'd start by getting Ragnaros,
Sylvanas
,
Leeroy
, Harrison,
Thalnos
, and maybe
Cairne
, since I think those are the best neutral legends right now, assuming you play Standard. If you're in Wild, maybe Alex and
Ysera
are also good? I don't know that much about Wild. After that, starting getting the legends for the specific classes you want to play; these'll increase the power you get in those decks, but there's less likely to be useful in other decks, so they're less of a priority- VanCleef,
Grom
, and Tirion are probably the best class legendaries, since they're played in basically every deck of those classes. Antonidas is good, but you can make good Mage decks without him; it's a lot harder to make a good Paladin deck without Tirion.

I have everything with a strike through it. I also have Justicar and Black Knight i think. And nzoth andtwin emp(what a mistake).

Also Boom for wild. Baron geddon too.

Also have velen, huhuran, and paletress.

So the advice is craft nothing from TGT, Craft Classic neutrals/class cards. Then any big name Old Gods?

Guy just took me down with the most nuts shaman draw. Trogg coin trogg pass. Bolt guy face for 4 pass, totem golem face for 6. I take out troggs. Walrus pops out attack power totem. I get the totems of the board. Doomhammer. He pulled out the 7/7 after that. Just not enough answers to stabilize against every broken card in the deck back to back.

I think there is a pretty big difference between the rng of the shuffler(which is a most card game problem) and the the entire format being based around RNG "wish"-like effects like the discover mechanic, tome/book, and huckster & co. That's before we get to the fact that 3 out of the 5 tier 1 decks are running Yogg Saron. The other 2 have been top tier since they were conceptualized each holding the title of best deck in the game for numerous weeks(and that's if you don't count tuskkar totem as an RNG card). Every deck in tier 2 has barnes or effect + random critter cards

Yeah, that reason is mad scientist no longer exists. And they aren't really that easy to play around, outside of having to test for each scenario. Which requires intimate knowledge of every secret Mage has. And yes, the limited number of spells gives you idea what the guy has, but has you announced already, it's all answers/ways to get answers or like 5 bad spells.

In post 3958, GreyICE wrote:Yeah like Panzer this is basic game knowledge. You play league you play a game that requires 10x as much game knowledge. You walk up to that weird snake girl face first when she's level 6 you're gonna get wrecked. You just watch your lane and ignore where the hell that obnoxious cat man thing might be at 6 you're gonna get wrecked. You decide to trade with that creepy vampire so you both take damage you're gonna get wrecked. And like every friggin champion has a gimmick like that and they're up to what, like 135?

Here you have to remember what, Ice Block, Ice Barrier, Vaporize, Mirror Entity, Counterspell, Spellbinder and Effigy? So in order, here's your amazing things you have to remember: don't play any minion you can't deal with immediately, don't swing face with any minion you can't afford to lose, run out a test spell before you try your big spell, and if all that fails maybe go face instead of trading?

Like this honestly seems like pure salt, because its not very hard. You should know the general possibilities, if you slam down call of the wild into an unknown mage secret why are you angry that it gets counterspelled? That's all you. Honestly do people just play these games so they can get salty? Because it feels like you're working for things to be mad about. It's an anti tempo card in a tempo-based deck. The very best results from it are only as good as cards already in the mage's deck, the worst results are pretty trash (Dragon's Breath? Vaporize?). You lose temp to get cards that are probably anti-tempo. If you keep pressure on them the card is useless, so of course their deck is super fast or super grindy. Since mages can't be super grindy because they have no real ways of recovering life so get chipped to death eventually no matter what, they're super fast. So you know your win conditions, you know their win conditions, you know what you want your lines of play to be and how to put pressure on them. This seems supremely fair.

Now Yogg? That's genuine bullshit. Who the fuck knows what will happen.
I don't run test spells in my decks, or creatures I don't mind losing. What if he has two secrets? I play a guy, it gets copied then I have to debate how many cards I have to use to deal with it? Tome is real fucking tough man.

This is not true. At the point (turn 6 at the absolute earliest) a tome secret comes out you should have an idea of how you're going to win the game. You might have a spare Kindly Grandmother or Mire Keeper or something to throw in. Even the most archaic control warrior builds have armorsmiths and stuff (in fact why would control warrior attack face there? Waste of time). The fact they played the secret usually gives you a lot of information, what was worth blowing their tempo for the turn (after blowing tempo earlier) on a completely dead card that doesn't do anything unless you flick the switch?

Like... if your deck is so sensitive to removal that every single minion is utterly crucial and nothing spawns random tokens, every spell is utterly necessary and you don't have a random Living Roots or Lightning Bolt to toss to see what happens, and you can't afford to lose anything... maybe your deck just isn't very good man. Maybe your deck just isn't very good.

I'm not saying Tempo Mage is a bad deck at all. It's a midrange deck, that is to say a deck that focuses on running the most efficient cards at every slot with extremely strong tools. All midrangish decks just exist to horribly punish "brews" that aren't optimized, since throwing non-optimized shit into the meatgrinder that is a good midrange deck is utterly painful (see: Secret Paladin, Midrange Shaman, Midrange Hunter, etc.). These decks are very linear, that is to say there's not too many opportunities for outplays, nor are there too many ways to screw up. If you simply play on curve you'll achieve maybe 70-80% of what an expert player will, while with a non-linear deck with decision points you have more opportunity to screw up. Thus they tend to get favored by mediocre players, and players who are just ass tired of low level brews (seriously, I won't even play Cthun warrior below level 10, there's so much random ass jank that can screw you hard).

All Tome is is the final nail in the coffin. At some point the midrange deck was going to leverage their superior cards and superior tempo plays into either overwhelming card advantage or just hold the board hard enough they can crush your face. At least tome is interactive and can be played around, unlike the old notification that Midrange was driving the nail into your coffin (Dr. 7)
I'd much rather play against dr 7. Very much actually. I'd rather play against 7 then yogg or tome. Or yogg AND Tome. Also tempo mage isn't really a mid range deck. I get A LOT of early wins with it, but because of Yogg, I can beat basically anything that stabilizes at turns 7 8 9. I don't even run tome. The only thing I am ever like "oh man this is too much" is Cthun warrior.

"While we enjoy seeing players explore combo styles of play and will continue to support it in the future" -> Destroy every combo deck that becomes a tier 1 or 2 deck.

Also can't believe they are making it so Yogg can Overload people, saying it was a "bug". Very weird.

Power level drop is dumb. Standard is dumb. All the fun cards are gone. RIP Shredder. Also "interesting draft choices" are overrated. Give me 3 shredders over "interesting decisions" any day of the fucking week. "Interesting Decisions" don't fill the win column. Shredders do.

And I'm saying that I disagree with you on a fundamental level. Choices are not interesting or fun. Winning is fun. Shredder wins. Choices only make you lose. I'd rather have an optimal almost everytime pick up then a choice, every time. And it also makes the preparing easier, because you know you're gonna need an answer for shredder. I'd rather play good cards then get shoehorned into some shitty mechanic like Jade Statues(which is really a dumb mechanic and why I basically have quit) and get shortchanged.

Absolutely not. Interesting choices create variance. Because the reason it's a choice is because each card would have it's merit in a particular situation. Variance is the enemy.

This is only true if there is a unequivocally right and wrong choice. If the choices are trade offs, which is the goal, then it comes down to variance on which trade off is going to help you over the course of 10 games against moderately but not entirely predictable decks, which is dumb.

I think I went 5-1 and got all my quests done. I won with some trash but also got some crazy shit. Emperor Thrassian, baron geddon, chillmaw, Ragnaros one game. The finja murk eye game. Old Shredder, barnes, prince malchirion or w/e, and the priest guy that makes 1/1s of your dudes. I think the game I lost I had lotheb but the hunter got spider ball off his first creature.

Yeah, i play very very rarely now. Discover would be a good mechanic if the card pools were bigger, but they just aren't. Primordial Glyph is probably just broken regardless.

I want to say both those strategies are clearly in the second tier though. Patches, jade idol, ice block, and mind blast are all just better.

The shaman portal board wipe card is also p good esp if you get a spell damage totem and they don't kill it. Evolve also strongish.

Ice block can beat patches as long as it's not a health gain class.

Idk, this one just feels less fun than the 2 card combo one. 2 card combo one was great

At least last season, half of tier 1 in wild was reno-kazakus. So now if standard also has a kazakus deck, it's possibly a must craft.

Only way I know how to beat warrior requires a deck that's like 10k dust which isn't an issue if you played Control warrior but it also requires kael'thazad. So....

Which also needs cards from the old adventures that can't be bought anymore.
