I think I figured it out and it doesn't take a rocket scientist.

So, House defended BBT when others questioned him not providing reasons for reads or answering questions.

Because of when I was on the ropes at L-1 before and people backed off instantly believing I am a VT (which I am).

It isn't a gambit. Scum trying to get some town credit. From the scum game I played with house previously (I was scum he was town) a long time ago it was one of my few non bus games. Mislynches needed to start and I was the easiest target. This feels like it is borrowing some from that.
