. First contact with intelligent life was 2 months ago, and ever since then the Humans have been at war with these "Outsiders". You are part of the crew aboard the "

Flying Stallion

," a human scouting vessel searching for possible Outsider outposts. It's been a quiet voyage... until now. The captain is dead, and Outsiders are the most likely culprits.

“Captain Briggs is dead. I found him this morning, just lying there, shot. I quickly gathered everyone around and we just stood there for a while in shock. Who would kill the captain? I examined the wound, and from what I could tell, it was caused by an Outsider weapon. Outsiders on the ship? That’s a bad sign. We did a headcount and found everyone here. Because of this, I believe the Outsiders have mastered the disguise technology that they’ve been working on, managing to perfectly replicate other species. We must get word back to the Earth Alliance as soon as possible. Unfortunately, all our equipment has been sabotaged. We have no communication with anyone, and our ship is flying out of control through space. We can only hope that we don’t crash into anything. We are going to try to fix it, but I have a feeling we won’t make any progress until the Outsiders are off our ship. At the moment the only thing we can do is pick someone each day to shoot. Barbaric, I know, but it’s the only method we haven’t tried yet so it’s our only chance. I just hope they realize that I am who I’ve always been...”

General Rules

1. The site-wide rules apply. Read them, know them, love them, do not break them.
   
2. Play to win.
   
3. Do not edit or delete your posts in this thread. If there is a problem with a post, such as incorrect formatting, ask me to fix it for you.
   
4. Do not quote communications outside the game thread, including role PMs, quicktopics, etc., in the game thread. This specifically includes PM timestamps. Paraphrasing is allowed. If in doubt, ask.
   
5. Do not use cryptography, invisible text, tiny text, or the like.
   
6. Do not use any form of provable randomness. Claiming you rolled dice and acting on that is fine. Using dice tags is not.
   
7. Do not impersonate or pretend to be the moderator. I will be using
   Blue Text
   for modly things, so do not use that color

Activity Rules

2. If a player does not respond to their prod within 24 real life hours, is prodded twice in the same game-day, or three times in total within the game, they may be force-replaced at my discretion.
   
3. If you will be V/LA, please alert me in the thread or via PM.
   
4. Each game day will have a deadline of fourteen real life days.
   
5. In the event deadline is reached before a lynch has occurred, a no lynch will occur.
   
6. Each night will have a deadline of three real life days.
   
7. If a player has a night action, but does not submit a choice before deadline, they will perform no action.
   
8. I may extend deadlines in the event replacements must be found, at my discretion. This will be announced in thread.

Voting Rules

1. Votes must be at the beginning of a new line and bolded, and in the format of VOTE: Player name or

   . Abbreviations, missing punctuation, and misspellings will be accepted as long as it is obvious to me who is being voted for. If I perceive it as a vote, it counts as a vote.

I'll admit, I'm not experience with playing Mafia on the forums yet. In another game, we had a player use appeal to emotion to try to possibly wiggle his way out of getting lynched and he was a new player as well. Then he proceeded to say "Lynch me then. You'll be sorry for doing that." We are still debating if it's a scum tell or a town tell.

"Harry "Hiraki" Stiraki was called up today. He didn't put up much of a fight, and simply looked defeated as he knelt before the crew. He look up and simply said 'This isn't over.' I realized what this meant and took a shot. Hiraki's disguise disassembled, and he gasped and shouted as his blood began trickling out of him. A few more shots finally did it. We began to head to bed when a bright light appeared before them. Three grey creatures appeared before the crew, and quickly I attempted to shoot them, but alas, he was out of bullets. One of them held up their hand. 'We come in peace. Our sensors indicate there are no more Outsiders upon your ship. We are here to help you fix your ship.' The 'Greys' explained how they had been taking the minds of the dead crewmembers and placed them in our computer, allowing them to have a say from beyond the grave. This is the first contact we've had with peaceful life out there, and hopefully this will lead to a big, great alliance that can finally put a stop to the aliens for good. This setup originally came to be when I was at Scummer of Love. Everyone else was at some bar thing, leaving only me, Nachomamma and Katsuki. I asked if they wanted to help me design my upcoming mini theme and they agreed. We discussed a few things, I said I wanted it to be fairly normal but with an interesting mechanic. At some point I suggested a Vengeful setup, with stuff like vengedoc and vengecop, but they made no sense in any setup. Then I had the idea for a dead QT with a vote, and the vengecop fit perfectly with it. In the original setup, both sides had more power, with Mafia having an enabler which enabled the dead QT vote. I was fairly satisfied with the setup and put it away until I came up in the queue.

A few days before sign ups for my game began I contacted Chamber, who I owe a lot to for many things in this setup. He helped balance it out, as well as suggested that the dead QT should lose its vote after two scum die instead of because of an enabler.(Which you didn't get to see really.) Anywho he helped me out a lot throughout the process and I owe him a huge thanks. Also, thanks to Quadz and MoS for taking a look at the setup as well and thanks to Quadz for modding for a day early in.

Overall I thought everyone played fairly well. It wasn't even that scum played bad, it was just that town played better. Even had there been no modkill, I think most likely shos would have been lynched. I don't think anyone should come out of this game disappointed.

One thing I regret is not having a backup mod. The dead QT's vote was HUGELY hindered due to my time constraints, disallowing me to be on to change their vote. If I were to do this again or go back in time or whatever I'd have gotten a backup mod to help me out.

In regards to James Potts, my original plan was to have him actually be the last Outsider. But it didn't make sense with what I was saying so I decided to make him the last town to die or the town who hammers the last scum. Obviously Hiraki hammered, so rofl got to be Mr. Potts. Pretty irrelevent, just a fun little thing.

In regards to the modkill, it was a very tough spot to be in. I had to get about five opinions before I decided to go with the majority and modkill. Had I not modkilled I'd have to explain that Outsiders had a fake claim mechanic, basically hurting the Outsiders in the process, which shouldn't be a result of someone breaking the rules.

This was absolutely enjoyable to mod, I wanted to give a big thanks to all the players! Everyone pm me your MVP votes, and I'll get a post declaring the winner in a day or two once the majority have voted. Feel free to ask me any questions you have.

BB, why did you modkill me?

Posting the image in your role PM, even if it was fake, is still quoting your role PM. You are still taking something directly from your role PM and posting it. That image's url is directly out of the role pm, you didn't paraphrase by, say, describing the picture, which would have been totally legal.

Your rationale was that you discussed it in the QT and I never said anything. You have to be aware that I don't really read the QTs all that much in games I mod, maybe skim but the plan regarding you actually posting the picture was something I overlooked. It should be apparent that it's not okay considering people claiming without posting their picture in my opinion, but I suppose not. Had you asked, in bold, "@Mod: Can we post the picture from our fake pm?" I would have answered "No." There really was no plausible course of action here, due to town not knowing that Outsiders had fake pm technology at their disposal, they would assume this made you confirmed town and you would ride to end game. I could tell town that Outsiders had an ability to have fake claims made, but this would gimp the Outsiders and reward the town, which shouldn't be how it works for someone posting their picture.

It wasn't an easy decision, like I said I had to ask like five others about what I should do here and a few said they are unsure while a few said modkill. So modkill it was.

Flavor stuff. Basically all of your claim except the picture. If you had to fabricate your own role PM without knowing the other roles, chances are your flavor wouldn't have fit with theirs and would have gotten you lynched just because of the flavor, which shouldn't happen.

I did this in teedy bits when I claimed - I mean, other than what you provided me - and I think I could do it anyway even without it completely. if we're dealing with a "flying stallion'' then we gotta have a pilot, right?
