Pre-game

- If the /confirm number is reached, start without me. I will catch up.

Day Phase

- The first rule of ongoing mafia is you do not talk about ongoing mafia.
-- This rule includes my games as well as any other you may be playing in.
- Brash behavior inside the confines of site rules is acceptable.
- Please attempt to be courteous to others in regards to how many times in a row you're posting. We have multi-quote buttons, the ability to link to posts, etc, all at our fingertips.
- Encrypted or colored text is unacceptable. All other

From deep underneath the creepy old manor outside the town walls came a thunderous sound. Ritual complete, reality itself seemed to be ripping open down there. The heavy armor and heavier scales of the male performing the ceremonial rite was still thrown across the room; however, he was no longer alone once the rift closed. Through the veil came a darker, heavier, ancient evil. It surveyed the room (which had now gone from shambles to f-5 tornado in .00000001 seconds) before exhaling a blume of thick black smoke that nearly enveloped him entirely.

"Hail Orcus,"

it muttered before clanking up the old steps.

It didn't see the man blown behind the desk. The man saw it, smiled, and lost consciousness.

Her inquiry, as friendly as her demeanor, unsettled the fidgety man.

"We haven't had a decent event -- not a gauntlet, a joust, hell I'd settle for a

The savvy man quipped his words at her with an obvious sarcasm. He knew her importance, but his pockets didn't care for pleasantries anymore.

The plan was easy. The hooks were set. Now, they just needed to each do their part and it'd go off without a hitch.

She, like most days, remained dirty and ignored. Several tens of feet up, a guard lowered his binoculars in a sweat atop the Northernmost tower. He couldn't believe it even after looking again. Then... he just wrote it down. No sense in getting himself into trouble by leaving his post. But wait, what's this? Back on the ground a olive-eyed Elf girl slowly stumbled forward with the arms stretched and mouth wide. The guards below warned her several times to stop, state her business, or do anything but be like this. They felt they had no choice. The guard up top watched them execute her.

The level of bright pink in her dress and parasol was equal amounts enchanting and mortifying. She clearly wasn't from around the salt-of-the-planet city of Cobble. Maybe not even the continent of Ronia. Maybe not even... well, nevermind.

The gorgeous, heavily armored woman stood up with a swiftness when she heard the boom. Another woman looked around, her brown curls flowing around her, before turning back to head wherever she was going when -- from out of nowhere! -- a small ball of flame appears and explodes in front of her. Her items flew about aflame and she fell to the ground hard. The explosion didn't take her life... but another wasn't so lucky.

The election will work just like any other day; the difference being the winner gets the 1-shot Governor instead of being lynched.

What is a Governor?

The Governor ability allows for someone to be spared at twilight. This will disengage the majority-voted lynch and end the day as if the majority voted no lynch.

Either in thread or via PM, the winner of said ability would alert me in some way that it's being used. I would then wash the vote count and end the phase in a no lynch.

It's like trying to catch scum in a lie by asking them about information they don't have. Again, in general, it's not the way the game should be played. I'll disregard stuff like the above but asking anything more specific like "what's the fifth word in your win condition?" to "catch scum" is a really cheap way to play. It must've been in an older set of rules, but anyway.

The Cult Q&A!

@MOD: What does Cult mean to you?

Cult is an anti-town faction that grows nearer to its win condition simply by expanding night after night. Sometimes even after the original cult leader dies. ((See Mainstream Mafia I))

@MOD: What if I X, will Cult Y?

With regards to night actions, the act of being culted lies within the same rank as being night killed. So it is, in fact, possible to see someone get culted and flip cult on the same night.

@MOD: How do you balance Cult in a game of SRS BSNS Mafia?

This will mostly have to wait until post game; however, I can say that everything you have at your fingertips is there for a reason. Yes, even your role.

@MOD: Worst case scenario: how do we know when LyLo is with a Cult?

I can't answer that question without slipping info about the setup; however, I can say that it'd take a long trip of the wrong dominoes for this to even be possible.

Cobble was in disarray after the two deaths. Something didn't smell right and it had little to do with the crispy fried townsperson the town guard were moving to the graveyard. They finally began to come together on a lead and were shouting for a head. Not just any head, either, as they circled nearer and nearer to this one.

Reasons like these were why she'd write in the first place. Nobody ever takes a woman as gorgeous as her seriously unless she can quip just as well with her quill as she can with her tongue. A smirk crossed her cheeks as she finished; unfortunately, she wasn't alone.

The great deathbringer thought it heard the target speaking to someone, or something, but it was just the red-haired doe-eyed girl in the field of flowers picking away at the daisies. The dark sword plunged into his chest. She shrieked and stumbled further backward at the sight of such a thing before finally fleeing. The heavily-armored brute pulled the frogman into his blade even more, the expressionless face draining of color as the black knight wiped the mud from its helmet.

A giant snake looked on from the shadows as the lifeless body thudded onto the dirt. Meanwhile, a man in the tower etched a second hash mark after what he'd seen. The ivory-skinned girl ran and ran and ran almost all the way home before colliding face first into another guard. He tried and failed to calm her before rushing to investigate whatever had her so worked up.

The two would do battle then and there with neither seeming to get the upper hand on the other until the scream of an Orc broke their concentration. Off in the distance, the battle-hardy Orc would take a flaming black sword through the back from a pretty, if off-kilter, Aasimar woman surrounded by floating, furless... dogs? This would immediately grab the attention of the town guard all too late. This stopped the fight between the man and the half-blood as both tucked away in different directions immediately afterward.

It was another cold night in Cobble, only this time the great and gorgeous woman would make a stand against all the evils in the city. She'd go right out in the middle of the square -- call them out! -- and tell them that Cobble will not rest until they were all exterminated so that the people, her people, could sleep well. She left her office room with a certain tenacity and suddenly met a girl with an otter at her door as she set foot from the front door of her keep. The little thing didn't look so good, but she had just finished a gift for the magnificent woman and it absolutely needed to be delivered.

Oh... why, thank you, little one. Are you well? Surely you should go see someone about that. Please, walk into my keep. I've a great person on staff who could look at you. But if you'll excuse me, I've business to attend to in the square.

"

The little one meakly nodded; unfortunately, she wouldn't make it to the specialist in time. She dropped to the wood flooring three steps in. The well-dressed woman kept on her way -- unknowing of the little one's fate until returning later -- when she met another at the gate of her keep.

M'Lady... you mustn't go. There is

afoot this evening. You're safer right where you are.

The well-armored Human cut her off at the proverbial pass.

Angered to the point of rage, she almost spoke again when she saw his hand on the hilt of his sword at the ready. The massive shield on his arm brought her to a calm. She was outmatched. She obliged him. Before the portly man in the shadows could really gather his bearings and process what he'd seen, something huge slithered in behind him. He'd turn and look up.

The man sauntered through the night, like any other night, completely unaware of where his feet were taking him. The flaming black sword would've woken him up if it hadn't taken his life with it. He'd die in his sleep... but was that really the most peaceful way to go? The Snake-woman smirked as she watched the man slump to the ground with a pool of blood growing around him. Something caught the corner of her eye. Was that bush... moving? She glided through the dirt toward impending doom without even realizing it. Out of the bush came a very ragged man with garb as equally disheveled as his nearly toothless grin.

"POCKET SAND!"

She was blinded! Who the hell did this stranger think they were? It mattered not, for as wildly as he threw a handful of beach sand into her eyes came a mostly-broken sword swinging from his off-hand. Critical hit! The sword shattered in the center but it met its mark with a fatal blow. She clutched her throat, choking for air, and wretched around for what felt to her like forever before falling to the ground.

The girl would go about her business as usual, hoping to question the strange lead she'd gotten as a tip from her associates. She walked through the busy Rusty Dragon common room when she realized she didn't have her quill. Or her ink. Her pad was gone, too! But where? Where could it have gone. The calm drinker at the table nearest to her chimed in.

she thought. It was there all along! But how did he know? She procured her things from her pockets and turned to him.

Confused, she shook her head with a smile. The ordeal would make her completely forget about the first lead as another who interested her walked nearly through her. She'd stop him from his task if only for a moment. The brute with the axe didn't know this girl, but he could tell her intent was good. He'd answer her questions as best he could before going on his way.

On the other side of town, a beefy Bugbear was using the original pad and quill to take notes on a target of his own. The Dwarf at The Rotten Crop knew none the wiser.

The sweet far-sighted Elven girl walked out of her home to meet the red-haired Elf for a much-needed night out. The spectacled Elf waved to the one she loved so much, but the redhead seemed blank. Their eyes met... yet something was strange. Something about the Elves' eyes was different. A look of confusion swiftly turned into dread when -- from out of both nowhere and everywhere simultaneously -- a being appeared behind the red-headed Elf. The soft-hearted Elf nearly lost her glasses when she rushed forward, screaming, flailing, and doing everything she could to break whatever aloofness had befallen her dear friend. She watched as the black blade thrusted through her friend and the spectacled Elf froze, trembled, then fell to the ground in a sob heard throughout every breaking heart in the city. Night 3 - Stay Down...

The events on the previous day happened so swiftly. Sure, the number of townsfolk had been dwindling, but the forces that reckoned against them dwindled as well. For every member of the town that the massive being turned seemed a fool's errand as someone would come up from behind and end them with the same swiftness and vigor. Could the looming threat even grow? She wouldn't stop -- she couldn't, the monster knows only that it must rise above this wretched place -- so even though it lost another this night? It would slither on.

The group seemed just as troubled. They'd make noise, sure, but they couldn't continue on like this the same way the beast could. They knew that without the spider the town would have to find strength within itself to foster the fight ahead. Though they knew it'd take more potions and more footwork... they prepared for this.

She looked forward from her last vial. She'd strike again. Surely the things he'd said about himself implied enough. Certainly this wasn't a fool's errand? She'd hope, but sometimes hope leads one down rabbit holes they can't find themselves out of.

Striking another balance, the old man knew that fact too well. How helpful could this task be when there are so many doing more... focused work? Every head counts.

Though not every head can be trusted. Nor every eye. Sometimes, "seeing is believing" can be a falsehood. Sometimes people see what they want to see. Or what

they

want you to see. Be wary. An armored fellow who'd spend his nights trying to do the right thing -- stopping those who need stopping -- would come to learn this all too well.

If only they'd just let him work... maybe fewer casualties would meet the day's sun.

The disheveled maw of the gum-mouthed fella gleaned a bit of happiness, though, as he found what he was looking for. Again. Funny how luck works.

Two men approached. One from the front, the other from the rear. You could tell by the looks on their faces that they hadn't orchestrated this; however, it was a good thing they were both there. The target proved stronger than either of these men alone. They would fight him there, in the courtyard, making sure he didn't get away. A third man -- this one much older -- knew what he saw. He had all the information he'd need.

Meanwhile, the large reptilian creature found a suitable target after they were done with their rounds. Finally a mark would be etched without another being scratched off.

The little kobold was loaded and ready to go, his target sauntering around aimlessly.

Night 7 - The Turning Point

The old Dwarf, bless his heart, went out to do what he could without realizing he'd left his warhammer behind. It wasn't until he realized it was gone that it clicked in his head.

The Bugbear

. One from several nights ago that he'd spotted writing in a notebook that clearly wasn't his. He'd later find the weapon (which had been passed down from generation to generation, so it was tantamount he get it back) but by that time the sun was peaking from the mountains that protected Cobble's Eastern border. He would have to try again tomorrow night if he could.

A bright young girl, perhaps a little naive or foolhardy, walked the town with eyes glazed over. Little did she know this would be the last traipse of her life. The flaming weapon had found new hands... and the man thrust the blade into her torso.

'It must be done,'

the wielder thought to himself.

'My survival depends on it.'

A slimeball of a Human gleamed in the moonlight as he walked out of the shady dealer with a book in his hand. He couldn't help but open it. He needed to know everything... or at least anything that could help him. A blinding flash blasted through the area when the book opened, a thunderous boom that sent him to his backside. A look of frazzled enlightenment crossed his face.

Or maybe just confusion.

A guard approached him and, after helping him up, handed him a letter. He'd give an appreciative nod before heading off.

Lord Tsoth, standing in the town center one last time, clenched his black blade with unmatched readiness as someone jumped right onto his well-armored back. Ace Brocolla writhed and wiggled upon the death knight to no great success. Such an act was the most brave and foolish of perhaps any of his acts to date. This is, of course, including the time he shot a rune lord in broad daylight and lived to tell the tale. Lord Tsoth dispatched him with one hand. The slimy wretch let out a pained groan as he met the hard dirt beneath him. Even still, looking up to certain death by the baleful black sword, he put up a clenched fist with his thumb extended out.

"I'm good..."

he lied behind gritted teeth.

The death knights sword came down -- but no! -- Cayden Calien stopped the connection with a flick of the wrist. Tsoth seemed frozen in place if only momentarily as the God of bravery and freedom approached.

"It isn't often the deities intervene in mortal matters,

Calien curtsied sarcastically, mere inches from the black-plume breathing behemoth.

"And I'll leave you to whatever may happen here this day... with a warning. Never again should you -- nay, should ANYONE -- underestimate the great fortitude the people of Cobble have proven to have over these past few weeks. Their bravery is unmatched. Their strength, though dwindled by paranoia and powers beyond you and me, is unstoppable. Lord Tsoth... welcome to Cobble. I hope you enjoyed your stay."

Angered, the black-armored demon swung upon a God that was no longer there while the grimy colosseum owner took this time to catch his breath and slink away on the ground. Tsoth's footfalls boomed in Ace's mind harder than an Orc's drums of war.

Small pebbles, an annoyance at best, bounced off the dooming armor. Tsoth turned to see the young girl -- no older than eight or nine years -- in Orphan Alex throwing the biggest pebbles she could muster. A deep, dark chuckle filled the air as more blackened steam plumed from the slits of the helmet like an old Harley exhaust pipe. And just then... the final great warriors of Cobble surrounded the monster.

EP, without players like you I don't think I would've enjoyed this as much. Thank you so much. True town mvp if I were to award such a thing. Not to say that anyone who survived through even most of the game didn't contribute or anything like that; however, had Easy Bake made different decisions early game this would've certainly gone another way easily.

I don't plan on running the Mainstream Finale for a little while (which is where this type of night-based flavor may stay), but I do plan on running a Skyrim warring factions large theme and perhaps a DnD II spin off with the survivors from this game taking different roles (not all 8, but at least five or so) before year's end. No more than probably 21 players each.

As fun as this was... it was also a Goddamn nightmare at first haha.

TSE, honestly, I could see you using this as a town win for your own personal stats. But I wouldn't point to this game from a meta standpoint unless you're using it to show how you're changing it (If that's what you're trying to do, you said as much in a sign up thread recently).

It is with this information that he knows what he must do. Burn the place down with those that he once aligned himself with. But even though they're all familiar with one another (some more intimately than others), there was a bit of a falling out with the boss that puts any sort of current allegiance to the wayside. So now he waits for his time to strike.

Although he is a hate-filled evil entity, he fights with honor. His sword falls not onto his opponent's back, nor by surprise, nor by way of an opponent unarmed. This is an evil of order. One that must look you in the eye before it ends you. If it so happens that Lord Soth is faced with an opponent that does not meet his requirements, however, he will do what is necessary to move forward with his plan. That plan?

Complete annihilation.

Azarr Kul, the Half-Dragon Hobgoblin Cleric of Tiamat, is the leader of the Kulkor Zhul tribe, a fanatic and unrelenting tribe of hobgoblins who pledge allegiance to two entities only: the blue dragon Tyrgarun, and the Queen of Evil Dragons, Tiamat. Azarr Kul braved the seas North and ended up in new, unknown lands to him and his people.

Upon discovering an abandoned church on the outskirts of a big city known by locals as Cobble, Azarr found it a perfect place to consecrate and -- combined with all previous sacrifices he'd made to his deity -- summon She Who Bore Them All. Tiamat, however, has other plans for Azarr Kul. Plans that include the annihilation of the city before him. It wouldn't be until what comes ahead that he would come to this realization with equaled honor and glee. Kul stands strong even without the help of the Red Horde (his most elite band of warriors). Her legacy spreads across the land in the form of nightmarish legends and folklore involving a large serpentine beast with the face of a human hissing you into a trance with it's magical emerald-colored eyes. These stories, however, are at least a hundred years old if you asked even the most astute historian. The fearsome creature -- unbeknownst to all -- traveled too far north into the mountains and fell to an icy doom, remaining frozen for centuries. That is, until she was recently discovered by a none-too-curious sorcerer out on a stroll. Poor girl had no idea they were in over their head until it was too late and she was tranced by the foul beast. And so they travel down the mountain to the well-fortified city of Cobble. There hasn't been a moment where she was in distress that he wasn't right there by her side protecting her with a powerful spell, his staff, and his naturally sticky tongue. Though he does not appear particularly stout, strong, or swift, Gek is by and large the best bodyguard she's got due to his tenacity and ability to compromise with what he's got in any given situation. Born an abandoned tadpole, Gek was taken in when Lady Estelle was still a young little girl full of hopes and dreams. Now? There's no bond stronger than that of these two. But it isn't exactly the Lady, now, that heeds his call or needs his protection. What will he do? Who can he trust?

He has actually been spotted on a time or two (likely from catching the wrong eye with all those platinum pieces) running for his life. But hey! At least he'll go down swinging. That's gotta count for something... right?

She is but an adventurer with a penchant for coming in at clutch points and taking down the enemy. It started many moons ago against a particularly nasty vargouille. The creature's fierce shriek tore through the hearts and minds of all of her allies.

. And the kicker? If you're kissed by a vargouille, in as long as 24 hours you BECOME a vargouille. So, with everyone she knows petrified in shock and fear, she took down the wretched scum single handedly. This then moved on to a battle against a massive group of Bugbear. He has dabbled in so many different things that it's safe to say there isn't anything that GD hasn't at least tried to do. But with many attempts comes many more failures, many stresses, and many tales to tell. All perfect for a barkeeper. People love a good story after all. This led to the giant spider crawling into a cave... that led to a crevasse... that lead to an abandoned Dwarf ruin of a mineshaft... that led to the refuse system underneath a booming city. Spiders don't know right from wrong, no, but what they do know is that angry (and loud) two-legged vermin will come prying into their home if the spider isn't careful. Since then -- as a wee lad of 12 -- he's been the go-to for the town in finding out if someone died naturally or though nefarious means. Though his lists haven't always been able to find the culprit, his success rate is greater than those of the town guard's typical means of investigation and in all things keeping his great town safe.

Why was I silenced pre-game exactly?

Faintly to keep the governor shot away from the mafia. It wasn't some big game changer in regards to taking away one voice from the group, but we'd agreed that if that was the avenue taken that it should be the Godfather role.

I just wrote it up flavorfully so that it made your role seem like someone caught in the crossfire of the opening kill flavor. In retrospect it probably made you look worse? Idk.

Happy little accident. I manually switched which mafia role Korina got to mitigate that after the fact. I had removed him from the game when the ban happened, then re-added them after a while when I was scrolling back through the thread having forgotten about the ban. Didn't realize until after the game filled that there was an issue.

Easier to ask for forgiveness than permission at that point. (That's probably not true but I was antsy about getting started and just kept going at that point. I would fully accept any judgment from moderators for said wrongdoing.)
