One of the first things that were posted in the neighbor PT was MB explaining how he was going to crumb.

To which I answered, why crumb at all, we're not masons. And curiously MB said that if I'm town,

it's like we're masons

. It took me aback, because no, FMPOV we're totally not masons, not even close.

Then MB was concerned about, er, what's that role that checks if you have a PT? He worried that such a role would get a false positive if we were investigated.

Then a real lot of the thread was MB working me to scum read Nero, starting with Nero highlighting MB's "PR crumb" in the thread. I'm not very good at reading Nero, so I said I wasn't going to do this on Day 1. MB's crumb wasn't exactly subtle for the type of player that looks for crumbs (unlike me, i never see crumbs). It felt like an opportunistic trap a little bit, Nero had fallen into and MB was going for the kill.

At that point I was noticing MB premature-claiming in the thread and that's when I proposed a gambit, since it seemed like the whole neighbor bit was already blowing up in my face through no fault of mine.

In other word I think MB is scum.

If I've got the timeline right, you were already a little bit suspicious of Math when you suggested he do the mason gambit, right?

Why did you choose to out the gambit? Wouldn't it have helped you figure out Math's alignment if one of you were eventually NK'd?

If I'm hard pushing Player A, and Player B thinks that I and Player A are both scum, I'm pivoting my attention to Player B for saying that scum is going to hard push a buddy that isn't otherwise under scrutiny.

I agree that Player B is scummier, but maybe Nero doesn't think that way? I think different players assign different weights as to which actions are "scummier."

I'm mainly town there based on his aggressive pushes and level of engagement.

As I was seeing MB perilously close to claiming on what, page 5??? I suggested that we claim masons instead of neighbors as a gambit. It would seal the fate of at least one of us as the scum NK (neighbor isn't a power role, town wouldn't miss it, so safe gambit) - I had planned to ask that we not be doc-protected just before day's end. Day 2 everyone wakes up, and there is a neighbor flip - then it lends credence that the other neighbor is more likely to be town. Not confirmed by any means, but less suspicious. The scum would know that we're not masons if one of us is scum, you see? Scum would be more likely to kill us if they believe we are masons. And if we lived too long... chances are one of us would be scum.

I have to say - I’m a little astounded as to how bad the first 9 pages read (I didn’t stop to analyze the players but I wanted to get a feel for how the game is progressing).

Nero pushing a player in MathBlade with a PR crumb and subsequent claim aren’t necessarily coming from Scum. And both Mathblade and House just read constantly pissed off to me. I’m not here trying to put my foot down and say that I strongly TR Nero or anything, but he does seems invested and could have just been wrong. The level of animosity is too much. The game just started. No one I’ve seen has fully formed accurate reads this early - calling other players bad is a way too aggressive. I don’t hunt for crumbs for example (not as Town).

Anyway, this is probably one of those games where I’ll voice my opinion, but I’m not going to lead anyone anywhere - there’s clearly stronger personalities than me. I’m not all that interested in getting involved in a pissing contest.

I guess I’ll assume {DGB, Mathblade} are Town for now.

At the time of that post it was a combination of many townreads, 1 scumread, and the other 2 scum were in a poe.

TRs on Nero, House, DGB, Kerset, Mathblade - scumread on Gamma. Felt unlikely that you and Gamma as partners chose to start the game both voting me so I felt you were on the lower end of the poe in terms of likelihood to be scum.

Wake Andres Dragon and A50 hadn't made much of an impression at the time, not sure how much they'd posted yet. Tiers of poe at that time were:

Titus - had posted enough to make an impression but had not garnered a townread
Other 4 - not enough posts/stances for me to take notice
You - not as likely to he scum with Gamma, but also not enough posts/stances to take notice

, I start a conversation about Nero. I say that I'm livid with Nero and I'd dayvig him even if he was a mod-confirmed IC.

In the next post I am asked to find some associatives (something I almost never do) if Nero is town and if Nero is scum. Math then reminds me that he finds Nero to be scum for real reasons and not policy reasons, though he says that being good as scum, he could push this successfully if wanted to. I ignore the request for associatives.

Then it gets a bit weird.

I say that eliminating Nero is in fact good for the town.

At some point, it would start to look suspicious why neither of us have been NK'd, i.e. we would have to explain why we're both alive despite being conf town. I suppose you could argue that House being a confirmed rolecop does not solidify his alignment as town, but I think it's so unlikely that scum would have a 1-shot rolecop in addition to a full rolecop, which is why I proposed that he confirms his role by checking me.

And it's not entirely out of the question that someone else can investigate one of us.

Hmmm...not sure what to make of this claim. I don't feel too great about relying on House to rolecop because I really think he's scum and you could both be scum together making it meaningless. Especially because I think we should be limming House today. If House flips red this ask to be role copped to create conftowns would look kinda bad for CSF.

I'm not super interested in limming a CSF slot I don't feel strongly about that's claiming a vig role. I think the claim should work itself out mechanically

I believe Titus' claim. I think a TA role fits nicely into the setup - a solid investigative role but with a little bit of ambiguity from the neighbors acting as a possible red herring.

On an instinctual level, I think there's already too much claimed power on the table, even if there is no vig in the game. I'm fine with crossing my fingers and hoping they at least partially resolve during the night, and ending the day on a PoE scumread outside the claimed pool of PRs.
