Psychological info dump break GL:
You can think of emotions as these like, warning signals the same way that you can hear movement of the leaves or a sudden movement out of the corner of your eye.
How we respond to our emotions, what we do with what they're telling us is a decision. Some therapy is based in the idea that if more space and time is created between our reactions to our emotions we can come up with better decisions/solutions and have more control over what we do with them.

Info dump over.

Vote Count 1.7

Image

Normally, within the realm of negligence and tort, the defendant has to be responsible for the plaintiff's harm in order to be liable. There are a few carveouts, though, one of which is the "lost chance of survival" doctrine for medical malpractice. A doctor may not have been the cause of the patient's death, as they had a likely-terminal disease, but if the doctor's treatment is so negligent that it extinguished any chance of survival, it turns out we might want to hold them to account for it.

One plaintiff in Oklahoma decided to test the limits of this doctrine, arguing that it should apply for simple negligence against a telephone company. You see, the plaintiff's wife had a heart attack and died at the family home in Tulsa. He administered CPR, but was unable to dial 911 and call an ambulance: the phone lines were too busy and had jammed. Eventually, he managed to get through to an operator who connected him to emergency services, but it was too late. His wife passed away in the hospital later that day.

What was the cause of the phone jam?

Garth Brooks tickets had just gone on sale, clogging up the phone lines. If tomorrow never comes...

The Supreme Court of Oklahoma declined to extend the doctrine beyond its traditional application to health care professionals, letting the telephone company off the hook.

You should be able to realize when someone is stroking your ego. You especially. Buddying is happening. Is it because they think I'm town? Or are they trying to manipulate me? Or both? I don't get it. But I feel like you should, rather than using a thought ending cliche here to dismiss the thought.

Then again, this is exactly where you'd push back and to be fair, your perspective is fairly limited unless it's about you or certain players you're paying close attention to.
I do think you're paying attention to catboi here though.
I'm just not sure you're paying attention to me.

I can think of at least two places where catboi has tried to buddy up to you. Did you ignore them? Are you going to deny they happened or that it wasn't intentional?
Do you not find their response to the "my cat" line at least, interesting or something opening you up to vulnerability?

lets say I have a friend "catboi"

and I enjoy shooting the shit with him and making him laugh and he makes me laugh.

now hypothetically we're in a mafia game together and he's being kind of friendly.

and i enjoy his company

do I then immediately go to "hmmm he's being a nice dude maybe he's scum who's trying to manipulate me by saying pleasant things"

like sure I could do that

and that introduces a negative impetus to him - so now he thinks in the future he should not be so friendly to me because i'll suspect that.

and then what

then he's not as nice to me in the future? what's the point of that.

It's just banter. It's nai. he's not more or less likely to be scum just because he's being nice to me. Reading into it is stupid

I genuinely don't know what to say about you saying that trying to read in to that is stupid given your own penchant for buddying and the other player being Petapan who has their own history of being extremely competent scum.

I have already expressed the entirety of my thought process regarding whether to read into someone who i consider a friend being friendly to me in a game of mafia. I do not really understand how to explain it more clearly atp.

You're being selectively ignorant. When people criticized your approach you had a defense and you ha it ready to go, you could have just said, "hey bro, I was just vibing with Meuh man don't overthink it"
instead you write 2 paragraphs of "over thought" which is just normal thinking.
But here you're refusing to seriously exam an significantly dumbing down your own perspective and relationship with someone you've been playing on and off with for years.

If you have like an actual reason to scumread Catboi I suggest you use one sentence to express it to me so that it's concise and easily understandable by someone of my limited attention span.

You have opinions about how Petapan approaches players and how they try to win. I don't see why you're dismissing an entire category of manipulation, especially one that you're particularly good at.

I think they're stroking egos and emotionally manipulating people by selectively complimenting and insulting them. I find their response to Ydra's claim and their doom and gloom to be informed as being more confient in a backlash than a town's person might have.
I'm just guessing though. I find their emotional approach to this game somewhat clumsy to be honest. I think it was meant to shore up support maybe? I dunno.

It feels really bad to say that the reason Catboi can't be scum this game is that he'd look cooler if accidentally stepping on a Ydra landmine and his speculation would be better.

I'm still guessing as to whether his sudden dooming and glooming is actually based on Ydra's insinuation claim or if they genuinely thought Sircakez and whoever else would have the ability to pool off an elimination of them.
