How we respond to our emotions, what we do with what they're telling us is a decision. Some therapy is based in the idea that if more space and time is created between our reactions to our emotions we can come up with better decisions/solutions and have more control over what we do with them.

You should be able to realize when someone is stroking your ego. You especially. Buddying is happening. Is it because they think I'm town? Or are they trying to manipulate me? Or both? I don't get it. But I feel like you should, rather than using a thought ending cliche here to dismiss the thought.

I genuinely don't know what to say about you saying that trying to read in to that is stupid given your own penchant for buddying and the other player being Petapan who has their own history of being extremely competent scum.

I think they're stroking egos and emotionally manipulating people by selectively complimenting and insulting them. I find their response to Ydra's claim and their doom and gloom to be informed as being more confient in a backlash than a town's person might have.
I'm just guessing though. I find their emotional approach to this game somewhat clumsy to be honest. I think it was meant to shore up support maybe? I dunno.
It feels really bad to say that the reason Catboi can't be scum this game is that he'd look cooler if accidentally stepping on a Ydra landmine and his speculation would be better.
I'm still guessing as to whether his sudden dooming and glooming is actually based on Ydra's insinuation claim or if they genuinely thought Sircakez and whoever else would have the ability to pool off an elimination of them.
