But there have been other things she’s said that I don’t vibe with, and I feel like she’s been consistently trying to get sus on me from the very beginning of the game. Now, when this insanity breaks out, she seems to be defending one person and ignoring everything else. It feels like it’s either because she’s scum with Jupiter or scum and knows Jupiter is town and trying to get ahead of a possible mislim by being so defensive of him. It gives her the ability to point back to all the times she defended someone who turns out to be town as a reason to the townread her.

Quite literally there was no shading whatsoever of Jupiter in this post. Jupiter asked is Jake's vote looked scum-motivated and I responded that I think Jake's comment before his vote (in post 84) looked like an excuse to jump on a bus. My comment was literally answering Jupiter's question and was fully a read on Jake, not Jupiter.

at the first opportunity she finds a reason to vote for jupiter. this is where i first scumread her since i thought she was just joining in with ming.

As I explained in subsequent posts 142, 166, and finally 208 where I retracted my vote and apologized, I felt I reacted emotionally to something and then took it back.

So yes, I disagree with the accusation that I was tunneling on Jupiter after my initial unvote and apology for said vote. I did find his actions hypocritical after what he said to and about Jake self-voting. Yet at any point before Black unvoted, I could have hammered him if I was so tunneled on him as you seem to think I was. However, I didn't because I didn't know if all the insanity that was happening was just a townperson having an emotional response or scum trying to put on an emotional response. If I were scum, I feel like I'd have more than enough to defend a hammer during that heated situation especially with some of the things said to me by Jupiter. The fact that I didn't hammer should show that: 1. I meant it when I apologized for my earlier vote on him (because of the reasoning behind it), and 2. I didn't have a foregone scumread on Jupiter while everything was going down.

I think that Black has tried to engage with some players in this game, and those players haven't really reciprocated the engagement. While she has made one-offs that I could best describe as shading, I do think some of her lack of deal is that no one seems interested in holding down a convo with her.

Still, I find her pot-shots scummy and want to push her for them.

i'll be more clear: it's a team game. you can still win if you die. in my mind appearing more concerned with self-defense is likely to be a scumtell or possibly a PR slip. i would really hope you're not doing the latter

If I thought “we can still win if town dies” was a good strategy, why wouldn’t I have just hammered Jupiter? I clearly stated that it was a team game during that conversation and that I felt if he was town he was screwing over his team by giving up.

do you really see no difference in tone? the post you're linking isn't nearly as bad as it got but it is the start of you treating it like a personal injustice that i was questioning your gameplay. i haven't had that from jackson in this past conversation, if you insist on drawing the comparison, thus it's easier for me to discuss the point with them without it turning into pulling teeth.

it's also easier to accept emotion as an explanation for one post in isolation than for one post cited as part of a pattern of behaviour, so that's a big difference for me.

this post isn't pointing at anyone in particular and yet is throwing some random paranoia on big posters being scum that I'm not sure I buy it. your top scumreads are two replace out slots and halfasleep. I'm almost 100% on it being 0/3 scum, even though I don't really know jupiter enough to know if he has such a large range to play like he did as scum. I don't really see him trying to solve the game at all.
None of his posts really seem like he is trying to figure out who the scum are, and only seems to start giving reads when pressured to, then only ellaborates when asked as well (which I do concede I could see as being a new player/overwhelmed player thing), but I feel like even then, there doesn't seem to be any urgency in trying to figure out who the scum are.

jackson, kjq and jake: i believe you all scumread thomith's slot at various points when it was jupiter in the driver's seat. how has thomith's posting affected your pereception of the slot so far?

I want to be clear that this isn’t meant to insult the previous slot owner.

I feel much better about the slot due to the level-headed approach to the game Thom seems to have. It feels like a more mature perspective and I’m getting more information than I did from the slot previously.

Now I run into a problem here because that’s the best way to fool me. I want to tentatively pull him out of my scum reads but I worry I’m falling into a trap of my own making by trusting it too much.

I have one finished game as scum, my very first game. I’d been accused of doing a lot of AtE in that game about being new but the posts where I was upset about being accused/blamed for things for being new or that I was being performative, etc. were all real from me. I wasn’t doing those things as scum, just from frustration of how I was being treated for my newness. You can find the same kinds of posts in my other games. But you can make up your own mind if you think I’m acting the same in this game, I don’t think I am. But I also wasn’t having to constantly defend myself in my scum game either so I don’t know how helpful that will be if you’re trying to get a baseline.

To give more ammo to use against me that I’d need to defend against but then also be told I’m being too defensive? Like, if you’re scum, good job. But at what point is enough enough? Is it because I’m the only one engaging? You couldn’t get legs for Jake, purple, ming, Jupiter burnt out on his own, and now that Jackson isn’t gaining traction, will it just be right back to me? It doesn’t matter how much effort I put into my analysis because the players that aren’t really participating aren’t reading it anyway and the ones that are, are lying in wait to tear everything I say apart. Except for the one person who agrees with me but even that’s not allowed, because you have to attack the fact that we are townreading each other too. Give me one good reason to give you more of my time and effort. If the reason is so that I’m not mislimmed, at this point, it would be incredibly satisfying to get to watch those wanting me out on Day 2 when they have to humble themselves when they see I’m town. @halfasleep, for further context, 983 came right after gimli did a dive on purplemango and towncased him which i think was an incredibly unproductive move for scum!gimli to pull there, which is why i had that reaction to it

that was basically the point that pushed me over the edge into thinking he was very likely town, prior to that i was still slightly wary

983 also came after my posts defending purple and possible reasons for his iso vs ming when they were said to be similar. Something I notice Gimli does is take other people’s ideas and rework them into his own posts to appear to be solving but it’s usually nothing overly original when you take into account the flow of the game whenever he makes posts you read as town (and I believe he does that for that exact reason, to be town read)

He was originally townreading me when he replaced in but shifted when he realized my scumread didn’t disappear. It felt like he was trying to get townread, realized it wouldn’t work and changed to scumreading me to try to get who he could on his side. If Gimli is wrong about you being town, and there is only 1 scum in their POE, then town lose if we follow it, because if we mislim twice more if we lim town today, then we lose.

He also could be scum, trying to steer us towards multiple mislims while keeping himself alive.

Weird how when I say I’m going to flip town if limmed and ask what people would do next, no one gives me an answer and I’m accused of throwing a fit. Yet, you are claiming you want to self hammer and expect us to follow your every whim.

If he’s actually town and hammers himself because he thinks he’s solved the game, that’s not only annoying but dangerous in a 9 player game. I know for a fact 1/3 of his “solve” is town because it’s me. So I definitely don’t trust his reads to be correct even if he actually is somehow town since he’s so off on me.

I do think there are things that don't go well with it, for example the fact that I didn't vote for Gimli even though I had a good option for it And in a game where I was scum, most of my votes were hammering town because it's funny

Although there's a chance that I just planned everything for the moment you'd think I'm scum, but then I'd probably try to find better ways

There were two wagons on D1 so being on either would’ve been fine for scum, imo. I don’t think not voting Gimli makes you more town because both were at e-1 and either could’ve been eliminated. And in the solve where both were torn, it hardly matters which one scum were voting for as long as a town gets mislimmed.
