I was having a tough time deciding who to vote for. I eventually narrowed it down to Cerberus, you and Katsuki. I ultimately decided on Cerb, because he is the most Reasonably Rational player here.

2. This game is comprised of an 18 player Aspiring Hero Faction and a 5 player Aspiring Villain faction.

I actually think there were always a bunch of towns who were voting me here because of my return to ms and because of friendship (for example I can't see Toranaga voting anyone else but me)

If a really high number - about 8/9 were voting me I would assume it was scum trying to pile up on me + some town but if I was nommed by 4/5 votes that means scums didn't have pregame chat and just couldn't pile on the votes on anyone.

Okay yeah, I see your point about coordination. I guess I was confused between the connection you made between scum having a pre-game chat and a coordinated vote. A coordinated scum vote would of course, clearly indicate a pre-game chat but I’m not sure if it necessarily follows that an non-coordinated vote necessarily negates one.

I can tell you that I'm like 95% sure that I had 2 more votes from the remaining playlist and that they would vote me regardless of alignment.

I can even see myself have upto 4 votes between the remaining playerlist.

Looking at this and the votes that are already claimed, it feels like that the scums were uncoordinated pregame or if they were coordinated they were not coordinated enough to bypass the votes on me (or they thought it's unnecessary)

one other theory is that they did pile up on me because they saw sign up thread and felt like I might have some votes so they just halped it happen to put me in spotlight but that feels kind of suboptimal. and they must be lieing about their votes if that's the case. or the people who would vote me regardless of alignment can be those scums.

In every game I’m in, I always go with Occams Razor. The simplest explanation always makes the most sense. I don’t think it makes a lot of sense for scum to lie about their votes. Why make things harder for themselves? I think we can WIFOM ourselves to oblivion about if scum are lying about their votes or not. What we ought to be doing instead, is what any good villa does: focusing on the

mindset

By “too much”, do you mean clogging up the thread or being a high poster? Also, content obviously matters. If you’re clogging up the thread with spam or blatantly attempting to derail then yes, that is definitely anti-town but posting a lot and being solvey isn’t. I think think post count is one of the weaker manifestations of alignment. High posters and near-lukers can be of either alignment. One thing I’ve witnessed scum do a lot is to push on the lhf in a game, since they are generally the easiest mislynch targets.

Do we let FA do it as long as it's announced (pre/post overnight)
Do we let FA do it and not announce it
Should the heroes themselves announce their choice (assuming we decide to out who they are)
Should we tell the heroes what to choose
Should we get FA to tell the heroes what to choose (is this allowed? It would require out of game comms I think? So probably not?)

from my understanding of it FA should choose and announce it before night is called, and I think if the heroes can choose their abilities they should actually not instantly claim cause then wolves know what people they should PR hunt first.

Not seeing the advantage of FA telling us before nightfall? FA is immune from NKs overnight correct? She can tell us tomorrow unquestioningly I believe and give the scum no info on the heroes she chose. Am I missing something?

Maybe but I was recently in a game where a villa got scumread for pretty much the exact same thing. What you ought to be asking yourself is, is either/both the vote/reasoning stem from a town or scum mindset. I of course may be biased, since I also voted for Cerb. 1) Random but secret the PRs or 2) Announce them.

Random neutralizes the threat to PRs and reduces buddying for power but makes blocking harder.

Announcing means buddying up the yin yang and harder to mske reads but easier to block with.

Well if you pick and keep secret, the odds of picking one scum by chance are pretty high. If you're town, you could get blamed for it given scum think you are buddiable. If you're scum secret plus pick allows you to place buddies as PRs.

It's obvious why the existance of a scum leader is good for the scum team, they would be able to know which players have superpowers.
As a town leader you're uninformed and may end up inadvertedly giving scum a superpower.

Suffice to say, I think im not gonna rely on PRs to find scum, that mechanic is swing af, and it also puts a lot of pressure on whoever the current leader is.

That is when I get a full grasp of the game state and have enough free time and discussions in the game to understand stuff. for example, in that game, I linked starting day 2 I caught 7/9 mafia team and hard cased the deepest ones and 2 3ps in a game that was very obviously scum sided and we won as the town. I got nommed for the best town for next award set on the mafia universe because of that.

But I guess no one but ufo or Titus in this game thinks I can do a game like that here though.

Any way I can see a decent percentage of players in this game not giving a fuck to give me the leader position assuming that I will ruin it.

so the two games I know you from are the games you pushed people early on. you're not doing the same here, so I'm finding it uncharacteristic. I also have a very good idea of how you think based off team mafia discord chat and I'm yet to see any sign of similar behaviour here.

are you holding onto your scumreads so you don't mistakenly push people when you're wrong? I'd advise against it. I'd rather see some real villagery thought processes from you that aren't right but move the game forward rather than the cautious approach of mechanical talk and easy meta reads.

This generally results in them getting pushed more about the part they ignored by myself, and anyone else who was interested in the point(s) I raised.

I see deliberately calling out the fact that she ignored the rest of the post as an attempt to preempt said pushing. I was debating whether to ask if that bit of flavor in Sakuras post was characteristic of her posting style, or if it had a good chance of being preemptive scum deflection, but this last post seems to support my position . Here Sakura is again, preempting questioning about her reason for playing the way she is, by posting a link and a joke. She already said it was because of a game in the past, nobody asked for a link to the game or anything, but here she is ready to justify what she's doing before the conversation gets too deep into whether her behavior is anti-town or not.

I love that sakura is being pushed for this and find your reasoning extremely villagery from you, and I was villa reading your posting before anyway so this is cool. I don't know if I agree with this, though. Based on Minuet game, I can relate to where she’s coming from. I experienced a very similar thing in a recent game (offsite). If you make reasonable assumptions based on logic that other people disagree with, you can get mistakenly scumread for that. I know what happened to me is still messing with my head. But why is their push scummy rather than probably wrong? I’ve observed plenty of games (primarily on MU) where town gets stuck in tunnel vision? Could that not be the case here?

If you make reasonable assumptions based on logic that other people disagree with, you can get mistakenly scumread for that. I know what happened to me is still messing with my head. Okay. So this, along with the "deliberately ignoring thing", ping me pretty hard. Normally, when someone looks at a post I made and chooses to ignore all of it except one part, they just do so without the snarky comment included. This generally results in them getting pushed more about the part they ignored by myself, and anyone else who was interested in the point(s) I raised.

I see deliberately calling out the fact that she ignored the rest of the post as an attempt to preempt said pushing. I was debating whether to ask if that bit of flavor in Sakuras post was characteristic of her posting style, or if it had a good chance of being preemptive scum deflection, but this last post seems to support my position . Here Sakura is again, preempting questioning about her reason for playing the way she is, by posting a link and a joke. She already said it was because of a game in the past, nobody asked for a link to the game or anything, but here she is ready to justify what she's doing before the conversation gets too deep into whether her behavior is anti-town or not.

I love that sakura is being pushed for this and find your reasoning extremely villagery from you, and I was villa reading your posting before anyway so this is cool. I don't actually care about not giving reads. I don't give reads early game. I care about not expressing the reasoning behind the reads when given.

When I give my reasoning for my earliest reads - before I’ve formed much conviction behind it - people inevitably accuse me of making surfacey reads but they don’t stay that way for long. I guess I process things more slowly but then I’m also likely to be more accurate.

I normally build a "Town list", a "not to be lynched today list", a "yeah ok you can lynch them list" and a "scum list". That said, are we coordinating the next leader openly? Okay, I briefly looked at the videos Katsuki posted. Most I think are from Deemo rhythm game and are just music but the two here might mean something. I dunno. So my current TRs are FA, duckling and Sakura (who doesn't pick a mechanical fight with me as scum imo). I normally build a "Town list", a "not to be lynched today list", a "yeah ok you can lynch them list" and a "scum list". That said, are we coordinating the next leader openly? Cause while I think we should obviously go for as townie as possible in our leader list, there's some townies that I don't feel completely comfortable picking as leader (although still better choices than anyone not in townie list).

How exactly is it scum-motivated? Or rather, why are you jumping the gun here?

toranaga i'm going to say is probably town despite some misgivings i have about some stances (shiro read and reasoning was pretty meh, for example). but overall play seems town, tone seems town, and there was that dumb alisae stuff that probably didn't come from scum. less confident than the above reads, still probably town enough that i don't want to lynch him any time soon

Drixx is null because they haven't done much. Same thing for NicoRobin and Randomidget really. (Nico has a reputation for posting in bursts and lurking at other times. Drixx doesn't post often either, but they do post semi-regularly. I am not sure about Randomidget, so I lean scum there because lurking is slightly more likely to come from scum than town, especially since it likes they are kinda actively lurking.)

Frozen Angel is town based on early game interactions and all. I also highly doubt that scum piled up their votes on Frozen Angel, so I think Frozen was chosen by town-motivated voters.

Muffin I keep going back and forth on, but as I mentioned earlier, Muffin's meta check on me registers as something town would do. In particular, scum would be more inclined just to keep on pushing the lynch without conducting research or employing the argument that "meta is useless because it is easily manipulated" which really isn't true if you know what you are looking for with meta.
Cerberus is scum for a couple of reasons. For instance, I don't really like 1062 because it is basically Cerb shutting down any other potential wagons... It's not like we were *that* close to deadline at the time. 1045 is bad because it seems most (if not all) of Cerb's reads come down to policy-related reasons versus actual content. Eh, let's most (if not all) of Cerb's scumreads. Another issue with the post is that it suggests that Cerb isn't really paying attention to the game as they should if they were town. (This is given their level of activity throughout the game; based on that, they should have quite a few solid reads, but the post gives the impression that they do not.) 942 is another example of this kind of theme in Cerb's posts: pushing reads for mostly policy or "OMGUS" reasons versus based on scum motivations. There was some other, early-game stuff as well.

Nancy is scum primarily based on gut-related reasons. Still, some things that stick out include 256 (not really a good suggestion) and 501 (being contrary just for the sake of it). 552 also feels off as well, but this is not easily explained. 558 is basically Nancy running with something Titus says. (Which to be clear, I don't get that impression from Nancy's posts.) 728 is more information than analysis. Simply stating "odd" isn't really much in terms of analysis; it looks more like scum trying to look like they're doing constructive stuff when they aren't.

@muffin: When i was going through your reads list I saw you had a question about Titus. Now my last experience with scum Titus was a game a long time ago called Street Fighter Mafia (played as Luna Fox on that one from the middle of D2), up until THAT game most people were very confident that Titus never buses, however in that game Titus bused a partner on D2, she ended up going down that game and the player she bused (Varsoon), didnt get lynched until later and I was almost certain he was town just coz of Titus flipping scum.

I was recently on a game on MU and I was stupidly fooled to stop a wagon on scum due to a horrendous terribad wolfsided push and their wagon evaporated in minutes and a villa got mislynched in their place. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to redeem myself because scum NKed me that night.

I feel a lot more confident about Ank being scum. Your lack of self-pres is making me question this and I think Titus is probably a mislynch.

Pretty much what you said. We have to base our decision on one of the wagons being V/LA. Even worse is the fact the my current most confident scumread isn’t even on the table rn. I still think Titus is probably town but now I’m a lot less confident about my Numbers’ vote due to Ank’s sudden sus switch immediately following Sakura’s post.

I have no knowledge of her scum meta. I do know that she was the defacto GOAT in the team hydra game I played with her, eventhough we still lost.

She does seem definitely less charismatic today then on D1 but I’m kind of smug whenever I’ve been IC in a game, which I know is obviously not the same thing here.

I guess, the only theory that I absolutely don’t buy was that Titus’ election was mostly an alltown effort like she seems to think, mainly because of her being the counterwagon. However, in Necromancer I went from almost being mislynched in the first couple of hours to being viewed as locktown D2, so I wouldn’t have been shocked to have been elected leader in that game - had the mechanics allowed for it - despite that.

It's kinda hard to explain, it feels like it's lacking cockiness, basically I remember he'd done the opposite of things I'd expect scum to be doing. Meanwhile there's a game solving kind of tone in his posting in this game, that's similar to Minuet's.

I’m not shocked that he voted Katsuki. He did that in Minuet as well but I don’t remember him hardcore defending him to this extent. Also, he seems different here than it that game. He was quite vocal and outspoken. I don’t know if that’s necessarily AI but his tone seems off somewhat.

People are suspecting Drixx for being low activity right? From what I recall he generally posts more when there's someone who's relying on him (hydra mate or scumteam, e.g.). So lower activity is probably more towntelling for him.

I'm not 100% it's a 1v1, but, muffin mentioned 3 ppl (including titus and drixx, forgot the 3rd) that should be looked at today regardless of what Numbers flipped, Drixx later today comes and says that muffin is scum, and muffin says that he remembered that drixx is scum and drixx proceeds to call it OMGUS, even tho muffin had already said previously he had suspicions of drixx.

Then slow down and provide posts please. It would help me greatly to read you and Katsuki and I am leaning towards one or both of you being scum based on the first setup post with blank role PMs.

I could easily see Katsuki claiming a guilty on a buddy assuming Titus was already scumread for cred. She had pulled that scenario with RC before if memory serves.

FA is obvtown to me mostly based on how she handled the leader mechanic

I'll go into it more later on

1. She argued for keeping teammates hidden D1 and claiming them D2 before I entered the game and argued the same thing
2. Despite the amount of fire I was under towards the end of D1, she decided to give me a power anyways
3. Her teammate choices in general are very town (myself, Toranaga, Cerberus v666, Nancy Drew 39, Shiro)

Plus I think that if Titus does end up flipping scum this game, that by itself is enough to conftown her via associations. It makes no sense for Titus to push really suboptimal setup stuff if her teammate, who was pushed into the leader spot, was just going to talk it down and do the correct option instead.

If Titus flips scum don’t assume anything doesn’t make sense. It’s Titus. In the game where she and I were scum together she intentionally had me argue with her because we were known to spat. She knows what is expected of her. That imho is the entirely wrong way to read Titus. If she is scum as I think she is it’s best to ask why she did certain things.
