It’s a dig, we played in a game recently where he subbed in as scum. But played like town and almost convinced town in a way to force a town lose. So it’s a joke… which I thought RVS was all about

Quick question what is a deep wolf, I’m guessing it’s something to do with someone playing a good scum game and staying hidden or is that a way of guess. I’ve seen it mentioned in a few games where Dann has been labeled with it, but never really asked. Seems important here though?

First day for me it’s a mess unless something pings and doesn’t work out in my mind. Or doesn’t feel right. Then if I make it to D2, which has been a rarity for me, I look at any associations I might see or look at any solves that might start to appear. I’m fairly new to the game so it’s all still a learning process atm.

I had been doing the same about looking at what was a dead thread. Then of course I come back and there’s a wagon, me. What I will say is having slept on that one question keeps coming to mind. Ari states she sees no scum hunting in my ISO, to be blunt I see none in hers or many people’s ISO. I see a lot of people chatting about other players they have played with in the past, and what they can say about those players and how the play as town or scum.


So when Ari started my wagon I thought ok looks like a push to get things going, but then the reason doesn’t sit right in that she herself has no scum hunting going on in her ISO up to that point.

As for your post at 251 and 252 ok, that’s you and Oppsie discussing how you play from your game experience with each other. I can only take that into consideration going forward. There is only one player in the game I have good game time with and that’s Dann, I have a little with Project and even less with Meuh. Dann is being his usually self in my experience and provides very little to me this far to take him on with. Project was the butt of a reaction test and has said little else. As for Meuh I don’t enough to make any analysis of their play. So for
Me that type of interchange is pretty much not going to happen as I see it. As for

right I am back, thanks for the kind words given. I am about to do what I generally always end up doing because of my TZ, which is read through everything I have missed and then post loads. Sorry but it really is the way I end up playing this game. It sort of makes me divorced from the chat which I hate, but on occasions in the evening when I am bored I get to interact live. Anyway waitout incoming posts, maybe in 20 to 30 minutes as there is a shed load to read, note and possibly comment on.

It's very easy to say behavior A is scum motivated because of ___ if you don't really consider what a person does when they're town.

OK, yes I see that, possibly in newer players. But what about players with some time in? especially those that are very good at staying Town when not, If you don’t know them then how can you tell? For example, how Dann can seem so town and yet be scum playing everyone, that’s from my, limited experience. but based on the comments here about Deepwolf I am guessing most have had similar experiences with him. Plus, all I can do is read posts like the one you highlighted and consider both sides of what may or may not be said. I don’t know any of you to be frank and I am still finding my way in this game so forgive me if I have no idea how scum you or town you would phrase something.

I think if I am scum and I am presented with a dead game state I tend to view that as an opportunity to take control of the game and/or get town cred. Not taking action usually just hands the initiative off to a townie who is willing to do it instead.

i thought that it was curious how it was used to bolster elements for the most part and wanted to see if she had thought about other worlds pr how elements would play and i feel she had given it some thought which makes me thinks the way she’s using it isn’t to like… pocket elements or protect a partner

There's nothing Dann has done I can't see him doing as red team without much effort

I have to agree, but I just don't trust Dann. until I can tell if he is Red or Green. I know I have said it before, but it irks me.

For example in 330 his sentence is a little long from what I can say is normal Dann, he would usually say “Black why am I town?” Basically what he is saying in 364 about Ari.

Like if the expectation is that the small hood gets the focus, and you know that you're a player who is often hovering in danger of mislims Day 1, why would that be a good idea? The only answer I find is the WIFOM angle.

This sort of makes sense, but from whose angle, could the WIFOM be WIFOM? Although the more I read daisy the more I town lean them. So ok makes sense.

Just after the vote on me. Seems a scummy reaction. When you look at the timing. Seems it was a jump on the wagon vote before a read back. That’s what I go the feel of anyway, but I am sure you could argue it was just a push, but you sort of did the same thing on the Meuh wagon.

Then there is 191 192 and then 198 after Danns nudge regarding his thoughts on your scummy posting.

You then ask me to ignore the hood thing, not sure why when you are seemingly an exponent of using it to our advantage.

Then there’s the references to your scummy play style and the fact that Black has been reading you as Red in a lot of games recently.

I really don't know how they play, it is more gut, but then they stood up for me so I am sort of biased. But looking deeper into their ISO, nothing seems overtly scummy (in my limited experience) And they appear to actually be hunting. Unlike Ari for example. who is blowing cold and colder, after accusing me of not scum hunting.

please what is this, so much to learn

LAMIST stands for "Look at me, I'm so town!" and it describes a playstyle that players can see as a bit of a scumtell as it revolves around someone acting townie but in a performative way where their actions seem motivated by a want to look good rather than actually wanting to play a townie game.

Gets thrown at me a lot cause I am a player that wants to look good. My logic is that if I'm townread it puts me in a better position to control the game and therefore puts scum in a worse position to do so, alongside the fact that if I'm townread scum are just more likely to go down. Plus tbf I just play my best mafia in comfortable spots, under pressure sometimes I can just crack as town which is cringe but wcyd. Obvs the difference between LAMIST as a scumtell and LAMIST with me is that I play in a LAMIST way regardless of alignment, whereas for other players being LAMIST about things can be a genuine tell.

Well from what I’ve read so far I would say you’re already looking at how people have been sorted and why that would be. This is a new game play for me so it’s interesting to understand the dynamic of “what happens if this happens etc’. But I do get it now. I really don’t know where to start. And it’s my fault for not being active here. My thoughts on just one aspect of what I have been reading But a lot of what I am reading after Shiki’s catch up seems to be The Shiki and Elements show.

The back and forth between them both began as a good read and provides some information on the statically reasons we should lim from one hood or the other, but 1. Hasn’t this already been discussed and 2. it is distracting when trying to read into what people are thinking. Is it deliberate? Just a thought.

Although I didn’t vibe Black as scum and was liking her input just before she subbed out. Then Shiki came in and it really felt like a breath of fresh air. Her initial thoughts on the split highlight Ari and Ydr as possibly choosing the small neighbourhood composition 787 , but that is her talking to Elements and likening their vote on Jupiter before the slot subbed out. Then goes onto question Fire’s thoughts on Elements and Ydra, so ok seems a balanced approach at that stage. There’s a lot of back and forth between them Shiki/El even at an early stage of her entering the game. But then she gets stuck on Dann for a while, his not taking notice of the slot that Shiki is in for example. I am caught on 800 where she question’s ScumDann putting Ari into the small hood based on Ari being difficult to end game, but surely that would be a possible move by anyone who knows Ari’s play, including Shiki? But during her catch up which she concludes at 830 she does I think engage with almost everyone in the game.

There is then a period of interaction with Dann based off her feeling that Dann was avoiding Black, or do I have that wrong? No, I’m sure that’s the hang up. For me it’s a null thing, Dann blanks a lot of people in games, well that’s my experience of him, he even has blanked me. Then the vote on Dann. Dann is pushing her to do something and asks her to place a vote on him and she does?? On the face of it, Dann’s response is how I would now expect Dann to react, by explaining his thoughts on why he pushed her, but that is not alignment indicative for me, well not yet. Her response with the vote seems towny to be frank, I would probably do the same. But then 863 seems mute and diluted from the feeling of confidence in her earlier interactions.

I don’t get 885 , ok it’s a naked vote from El, but ?And that is when the El and Shiki show begins. But to be fair Dann is also involved along with Ydr. Although they aren’t caught up in the statistics of shooting in which hood. Although the discussion does evolve into if we lim A the B and c are solved, so ok. But even so. Dann said it best 945 because it did but I have to go stale, it seems driven by Shiki, although maybe that’s her style to keep banging a drum until everyone else joins in. But El was complicit in stroking the fires (not Fire - as they were keeping their head down). Even after being asked to move on, it continues.

But seriously a lot of time wasted by the pair of them, and it sort of drives me to consider an El/Shiki scum team.

Dann, So I decided to take a look at Dann next. Why? well I am trying to understand all this association stuff. so bear with me. (note to self -Not sure this will work though.)

Well he is hunting, his questions make sense and its clear he is looking at each and every person in the game. Not only individually but questioning their take on others. What does fall out immediately is his thought’s on Black, which seems contrary to what Shiki is stating about his lack of interest in their slot? 606 . I’d disagree with his self-assessment 614 , but then I am reading what comes after it.
Ari’s question to him 649 seems weird. He asks a question of El about making deliberate scummy votes, I took it as a tongue in cheek statement. Then there’s the whole of Ari’s small push in 680 and onwards, it reads almost as if she is trying to convince herself that it is the right thing to do. Fire’s take on the whole thing at 690 I’d sort of agree with, but possibly not the charitable take.

691 survive, thrive? Deliberate change or a typo? Ok yes its picky. His statements on Black at 846 I have to agree with, I have played with Black in recent games and yes, there is a distinct difference in her play when Scum. Although I wasn’t seeing it here. But then Dann is talking from a personal perspective. Then there is Dann and Skiki. Initiated by Shiki talking about their hang ups on Dann’s thoughts on Black. And I have thoughts in my previous post, which I continue to hold. Not sure though what 872 is about, in particular the last part.

well, uh, i could not have put aristeia into the small neighbourhood because a) i am town but also b) i wasn't here when the neighbourhood's were chosen regardless? (if i were i think scums likely would have put me in the large group nonetheless? and assumed they'd probably have to nightkill me but i think placing me in the small neighbourhood puts different constraints on the scumteam than placing town!aristeia would {town generally more likely to take care of aristeia issue for the scumteam, aristeia more likely to actually solve the game so want built in clock, do not want to have to commit to nightkilling aristeia without knowing how she'll be read by the game})

and how i was thinking about it scum!aristeia would generally only be in the small neighbourhood if partnered with another strong scum player and dannflor's thoughts regarding what scum would do with the split seemed kinda hmm to me like they were distancing from the actual split and not really thinking about what scum would do with the like 'harder to play scum from the small neighbourhood thing' - like sure maybe in some ways but the scum player trying to endgame 80% of the time maybe more is the one in the big neighbourhood i assume so it seemed odd to me

yes, you have that wrong - dannflor felt that black was avoiding the dannflor/aristeia interaction in a scum indicative way and felt that that outweighed all previous thoughts he had regarding the slot

In 1505 Shiki is questioning Ari’s post at 253 . I would question why isn’t that in the scum PT as opposed the main thread, would it be simpler to consider a move by Ari to line me up. In particular if you consider she may well have picked up on the that fact until this game I have mostly played in traditional format micro or mini games. And so as i said the format was causing me some concern. But I will say it takes me a while to actually start getting reads on players.

With regard to Ari and Meuh, yes I noticed that there is not a lot of interaction, and to me that would say there might be some distancing going on.

I’d go as far to say that both Fire and i were consistent with our read on Ari, the one person who was not was Meuh.

i assume it's simply because aristeia and black were only both active during a couple windows and black was townreading aristeia so less reason for her to engage aristeia at length and! no reason for aristeia to really engage black because then more chance for her to see she wasn't town with little benefit as she was already townreading her

not going to go much into the possible scum pov because i know she wasn't (though it'd likely be very simply they did not see a beneficial opportunity to do so in the limited time black was here)
